I agree that it's not obvious enough when you have taken a photo unless you have the volume up and can hear the 'shutter' click. I hope think I might get used to it.

I wish they had the option to have twofold default alert times. I want to be reminded of events two days before the event and on the day of the event.

Sad I still can't find any info about location based reminders on the IPhone 4S - tis very irritating. They have location based ads without having location based reminders. I am Angry about that.

reggiebean · 23/09/2013 15:38

mirai That's strange, it works properly on mine.

Also, have just discovered that when you're in Safari, instead of tapping the screen, then hitting the "back" button, you can just put your finger right on the edge of the screen and push backwards (left to back, right to go forwards) which is very clever!

TootsFroots · 23/09/2013 15:40

My photos instantly go straight to the photo roll (iPhone 4S, Ipad 2 and ipad mini)

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 23/09/2013 16:07

RustyBear I think it's an iPad 4. It's the non cellular one. Nothing has been slow but the battery is going pretty fast. Although I have just this second discovered that it's downloading everything from cloud even though I didn't asked it to Confused

Has anyone else had their mobile internet bugger up since installing?
I can no longer get onto the internet unless on WiFi - just tells me I do not have a roaming package or something?!

BigBoobiedBertha · 23/09/2013 17:01

Jury's out for me. I hated it but now this thread has shown me how to change the look it isn't so bad. It is a bit too white but my folders show up a bit better and the text isn't so thin as I made it bold via the accessibility thing.

Still not found this torch everybody keeps mentioning although I have the control panel. Don't like the Spotlight. Always found that annoying and useless but it was mostly ignorable and now I find it keeps bloody popping up when I scroll down the page - when you have a long thread like this one and you want to get to the bottom to write a post there is a lot of scrolling.

Don't like the combined address and search box on Safari. It was easier to use with separate ones. The all white banner at the top looks a bit cheap.

Siri hasn't changed.

Have sorted out the iPad, got to do the same for the iPhone now.....and try and find this torch. I want a torch.

TootsFroots · 23/09/2013 17:09

BigBoobiedBertha
You don't get the torch on the IPad 2 but I have it on my iPhone 4S. If you have it,you can find it at the bottom of the control panel. It's pretty obvious if it is there. Grin

I wish they had the option to have twofold default alert times. I want to be reminded of events two days before the event and on the day of the event.

There has always been the option of two alerts - when you add an alert, the option to add a second one appears nderneath.

TootsFroots · 23/09/2013 18:53

SoupDragon.

I know I can manually add the second reminder but I wanted to be able to add two alerts per event/reminder as the DEFAULT. I would have thought a lot of other people would like it too. but I could be wrong

SoupDragon · 23/09/2013 18:59

Confused Nope, not getting what the problem is! :) The alert has to be added manually anyway doesn't it?

TootsFroots · 23/09/2013 18:59

The search ipad/iPhone function just requires a downwards swipe anywhere on the main screens apart from the very top.

TootsFroots · 23/09/2013 19:04

In
settings > mail,contacts,calendars > calenders > default alert times

You can only choose ONE default alert time. I demand want to be able to choose two default alert times.

I recently had to add a whole load of driving lessons for my DS. All at ad hoc times. I had to manually add the second alert time for each lesson. Angry It was a bit tedious. Sad

SoupDragon · 23/09/2013 19:06

Ah. I didn't even know there was a default. My calendar thngs all require different alerts anyway so it's useless for me.

BerylStreep · 23/09/2013 20:04

toots my reminders have location based options. i have just added coconut flour to pop up when i am next at the asian supermarket. hit the 'i' button on the right of the item and it brings up the option.

sorry for rubbish typing - cat on left shoulder a la newborn style.

15thnamechange · 23/09/2013 20:12

The aesthetics I can adjust to, and I quite like some of the new updated functions....
BUT!!! Battery duration following this update update has deteriorated HUGELY - can at times literally see it ticking down, certainly not the 10 hours advertised on Apple website. AND that's with reduced brightness, turning off location, tracking, maps etc. blah blah.

What am I doing wrong? Have read the various links and applied as appropriate, but made minimal difference. Very fed up :(

onestonedown · 23/09/2013 20:14

Love it - enjoying the new iPhone, and siri.. I've never had siri before!

HereIsMee · 23/09/2013 20:19

My DS warned me not to download it :-/ I should have listened. The ugliness of it all has completely switched me off iPhones and iPads.

15thnamechange · 23/09/2013 20:29

No way am I updating iPhone!

TootsFroots · 23/09/2013 21:32

BerylStreep. Is you phone a iPhone 5? Mine is an iPhone 4S - and I can see no way of doing location based reminders on it. It's a shame as I used yo be able to use them with iOS5. I found it really useful (and essential for shopping lists Grin )

I could only get location based reminders on iOS5 by messing with the settings - I think I had to set the language as English (US) or something similar.

BigBoobiedBertha · 23/09/2013 21:42

Toots - I don't have the torch on the iPad 4 (only found out that is what it was today - very educational this threadGrin) but I do have it on the iPhone 4.

I suppose I don't really need it on the iPad but damn it, I want it now.

I didn't know you could have default alerts either. Not that I need a default but I still never knew.

filee777 · 23/09/2013 21:44

YABU the pull up bottom menu is uber useful.

BigBoobiedBertha · 23/09/2013 21:48

I have found something I really don't like - those boxes/folders where you group together apps? Whatever they are called, I don't like them now.

I don't like their lack of colour - they merge into the background too much. I know they change as you change the wallpaper but they don't stand out enough. Mine always seem to end up a shade of pink. Hmm

I don't like the fact that you can't see which apps are in each folder when you are on the flicking through the main menu (or whatever you call it - the bit where you can see all the apps together) because the pics are so tiny now.

I don't like when you click on the folders, that you can't see all the apps in the folder at once. You just 6 massive apps showing at a time and there are pages to scroll through.

It is all a bit cumbersome and time consuming. It was a lot slicker as it was

TootsFroots · 23/09/2013 22:02

BigBoobiedBertha. I suppose you could just stick to only putting 9 apps in any one folder.
It does seem silly that you can't see all a folders contents all at once - there would be plenty of room. Silly Apple Sad
