Just found British English in Settings and answered my own question. Happy now.

RustyBear · 22/09/2013 16:42

Bettys - in settings go to General - International and then Language. It will already be set to English but scroll down the list and you will find British English. It takes a couple of minutes, saying Resetting Language on a black screen but then comes up with the proper spellings. I'm glad you asked and made me think of looking- now I have Favourites and Centre instead of Center, which was beginning to annoy me!

RustyBear · 22/09/2013 16:42

X-post!

bettys · 22/09/2013 16:55

Grin Glad it's not just me!

FunLovinBunster · 22/09/2013 20:40

It has killed my Nemos Reef.
Was on level 23. Had to start again.
My DD (7) is DEVASTATED.
She wants to sue apple.
Am inclined to fund her case.

Glittertwins · 22/09/2013 20:52

Did you back up before upgrading? I didn't and lost a few things

GobbySadcase · 22/09/2013 20:56

Oh FunLovin you sooo need to do a DM sad face with that one.

FunLovinBunster · 22/09/2013 21:13

My reef.
My bloody lovely reef.
(DD has mainly said bugger all day.)

Apple are cunts. (She hasn't said that. Yet.)

RiversideMum · 22/09/2013 21:24

I like it. There is something much more "British" about the way the design looks. Interesting what someone said earlier in the thread about Jobs/Ive. Those pretend "real" pages in calendar were a bit twee.

TootsFroots · 22/09/2013 21:56

I agree that it looks more British. I like the colours and the general feel of it.

ELR · 22/09/2013 22:15

I fucking hate it!! DH updated my ipad after I asked him not to so really not impressed. I was actually crying, which I admit is way over the top but I am very hormonal at the moment!! I had to go to bed early Friday night as the thought of wacking him over the head with my ipad was too tempting!!
I suffer from motion sickness and the way the pages open ect makes me feel sick. I have just about calmed down but I still hate it!

TootsFroots · 22/09/2013 22:20

ELR
You can easily turn off the 'movement'

settings >> general >> accessibility >> reduce motion

Then toggle the button!

ELR · 22/09/2013 22:25

Thanks toots DH has already done this for me which has made it bearable.

Sibble · 23/09/2013 05:09

Hate the poxy thing. It synched all my apple accounts which includes ds1, ds2 and dhs 'gadgets'. I was getting text messages throughout the day (dh was overseas so I'm waiting to see if I get charged some international rate for the 'pleasure' of knowing the content of his texts all day. Fortunately they were all work related and no 'dodgy ones' Wink. It also wiped nearly all my contacts and I can't find/retrieve or work out why the majority went and a random few didn't.

All in all it's shite.

MackerelOfFact · 23/09/2013 06:21

I think it's fine. I'm not in love with it, but it looks clean and I haven't had any trouble finding anything or using the new features. I like how it picks out a colour scheme from your wallpaper.

Most annoying thing so far is accidentally swiping back and page on Safari when scrolling up and down, and the fact hat the favourites are now on the right rather Han the left. But I'll get the hang of it.

MackerelOfFact · 23/09/2013 06:22

And the fact that I apparently can no longer find the T key! Grin

SoupDragon · 23/09/2013 06:42

I'm going to have to stop commenting on this because I can't get past how fugly it is. If I wanted a Fisher Price phone I would have gone with Android.

thistlelicker · 23/09/2013 07:01

My iPad and iPhone are
No longer
Synced with I message!! Any idea howto fix this?

Yoolsi · 23/09/2013 09:01

I'm lovin it:)

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 23/09/2013 09:27

Well, I've had a slight change of direction here.

I still despise it on my iPhone, however I relented with the iPad and downloaded it and must admit it's far better on there.

I still maintain it looks shit like a really crap android you'd buy in Lidl when they have their random technology week.

I love certain functionality. The control centre thingie that you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen. I use Do Not Disturb, change Brightness and use the Timer so often, it's great to have easier access to it. I also love that the timer now shows on the lock screen. Paging for groups of apps is good too, although I wish I could display more on one page by making the icons smaller.

Stuff I don't like but can live with:
-The fact that instead of looking like I'm a professional with a phone, I now look like a teenager due to the new button styles, colours etc
-In the camera app it's not very clear when you've taken a picture. I took 6 pictures of the same thing the other day, thinking I'd only taken 2, because the visual cue to show you that your picture has been taken is not very noticeable.

Stuff I absolutely LOATHE:
-Calendar. You can no longer see a short summary of your day while having the rest of the calendar in view. You have to go to a specific date, then you see the WHOLE day, even times you have no appointments for, so you end up scrolling up and down to find the appointment you have. It completely lacks overview.
-When you press the home button to activate the screen you see the time & date big on the screen as usual. BUT if you're playing music, you don't see the time big (it's small at the top of the screen) and it doesn't display the date at all.

There's probably more but I can't think of it. I've only been an iPhone user for a year (the iPhone 5 was my first smartphone! I am from the stone ages indeed) and I used to love it. But this new iOS has made me think of looking into an Android device.

RustyBear · 23/09/2013 13:09

Malcolm- which ipad do you have - and do you notice any slowing down/lagging etc, esp on photos or keyboard?

I have an iPad 3 (the retina display, but with the original style connector), I have updated my iPhone, but on googling have found reports that the iPad3 may not cope with iOS7 very well, so I'm dithering about it.

MimsyBorogroves · 23/09/2013 13:13

I too am very impressed with the app syncing.

KatoPotato · 23/09/2013 13:20

rreow You get a better summary of your calendar day by swiping down and looking at the 'today' tab.

I now have a BIG reminder that I've to get my ass down to body pump tonight!
