To be a bit confused about Mumsnet Classics?

A lot of threads have gone into Classics, but really that's because people get swept away with it. At the time. The thread may have been funny and those posting had a day or so of laughing, but why does it need to be in Classics?

Does anyone ever look in Classics? Apart from maybe to find the unfunny Pom Bear thread? Confused

I hardly ever "laugh out loud" at threads certainly don't spit coffee on my keyboard or wee myself , but the Angela Hernandez incident and the T-Rex man did make me chuckle.

PoppyAmex · 16/09/2013 08:00

Oh I'm lying - I did laugh like a maniac the other day when reading a thread in the Feminist/Women's Right board;

they were discussing how men can be used as sexual objects too and someone said "It happens with that Channing Potato guy".

I said it out loud and imagined this woman saying this in RL all the time - still makes me laugh.

poorbuthappy · 16/09/2013 08:07

The Olympic horses thread should have gone into classics. Instead it died in chat. Such a shame.
Sad

Sparklingbrook · 16/09/2013 08:42

I laugha lot at threads that aren't meant to be funny. Blush

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 16/09/2013 09:00

"paul is that you?" oh i forgot that one. that had me howling! Grin

StHelenInPerson · 16/09/2013 09:11

I actually did look at the poo thread
I was bored .
Was hilarious at points.

RustyBear · 16/09/2013 11:05

Honey - "all round-up are classics" is not the same as "all classics are round up"

Grin
SpringtimeForHitler · 16/09/2013 11:21

'if I move I'm going to poo'. I can't remember the name of the thread but I was crying at some points.

ZingWantsCake · 16/09/2013 11:40

I'll link my favourites later today.

on Saturday some of us were licking our phones and it escalated to a point when I laughed so much that I actually pissed myself laughing.
I had to change my knickers.
it won't be in Classics because it's in AIBU. same as T-rex and Sharon threads.

but the one about loopy behaviour at mum and toddler groups started in Chat and it had to be saved.
Naked Panpipe Elf and TurtleBoy were just to good.

ZingWantsCake · 16/09/2013 11:42

springtime
that was the "I shat my skirt at work today" (or something very similar)

and was fantastic! Grin

HesterShaw · 16/09/2013 11:49

I only have to think of the Easter bonnet and start sniggering helplessly.

The others...not so much.

HesterShaw · 16/09/2013 11:50

"I am new to bonnetting."

HesterShaw · 16/09/2013 11:51

Sorry - "He is in reception so this is my first brush with bonneting."

Even that bit makes me snort :o

Anyway, back to work. Sigh.

Where has the 6 kids at the wedding one gone? Was it a troll? I loved that one.

The one about the cat is fabulous, and the teenage son lie thread.

LeGavrOrf · 16/09/2013 12:43

Most of the funniest threads I remember ended up getting deleted. Like the woman with the horse brasses, gran gran, and then her daughter came on to shout at us all. She was a troll and the whole thing went poof but it was so hilarious at the time.

I agree that if you are on the thread 'live' it is far funnier than reading it cold. I didn't find the Pom bears funny at all but I am sure it was amusing to those reading it as it unfolded.

LadyBeagleEyes · 16/09/2013 13:17

Pinot's kitten rescue and photos was a classic, I loved that thread.

Hullygully · 16/09/2013 13:24

MN moved one of my threads into classics once (and they devoted the whole talk round up to it). They didn't ask my permission. I found that weird. It was a chat thread for a reason. I left it in classics because other people requested it (and cocolepew told a flipping funny story on it) but it doesn't deserve a place there.

My favourite threads in classics are the random acts of kindness threads. The bounty invasion thread should have been in there too.

HoneyDragon · 16/09/2013 16:25

MNHQ kindly asked if I minded one of my threads going into classics. To save me from my embarrassment being forever on the interwebz.

I said yes, because you buggers have the memories of elephants anyway Grin

SnookyPooky · 16/09/2013 18:02

I love classics, pooed on my skirt at work sucked me in.

ParsingFancy · 16/09/2013 18:07

Actual link to The Least Professional Moments of My Illustrious Career, the Angela Hernandez thread, to put everyone out of their misery after all those tantalising references.Grin

ParsingFancy · 16/09/2013 18:11

I'd been quite ill, housebound and isolated for a long time when I read that thread, and it was the first time for years I'd laughed like that. Proper belly-hurting, can't breathe, tears down my face laughter.

Boy it felt good.

ZingWantsCake · 17/09/2013 09:00

honey

would you link it here please?
is it about dying your kid blue?

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 17/09/2013 09:12

I've had at least one thread in the Round-up that didn't make it into Classics.

I send people there to see the best of MN - threads like Miguel Tuna, the baby who needed milk, the kitchen getting cleaned. The wedding planner baby shower thread is worthy of televising and while Chaos's toaster thread is one of my favourite ever I do think you had to be there.

Mumsnet the Musical definitely deserved to make it into Classics Grin.
