I don't get it.

Everyone has different tastes. Some would love my house, some would loathe it.

I would be quite upset to know that a large group of women in an internet forum were openly slagging off my house and getting vast enjoyment from it.

Aibu and have no sense of humour?

Is your house the sex bear house? Grin

Runningchick123 · 14/09/2013 14:42

They must have very boring lives if their daiy highlight is slagging off the homes of strangers.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2013 14:43

The ones on MN do seem to be a bit unusual to say the least Django. And the pics are out there on the internet. MNetters didn't break in and take them.

There is such a thing as preparing your house to sell-that's what I don't get, that people don't. Confused

DjangoTheDisSilent · 14/09/2013 14:43

No. "Hilarious" as that thread was.

Im surprised that someone hasn't critised mine yet. Agree though.

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 14/09/2013 14:43

What's the sex bear houses?

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2013 14:43

Plus the Estate Agents are half to blame, terrible photos and not advising their client.

DjangoTheDisSilent · 14/09/2013 14:45

There is such a thing as preparing your house to sell

True, but a lot of the ones I see posted aren't messy or dirty. They are purely linked to so others can have a laugh at someones taste.

I do prefer the property porn threads with the fantastic houses when everyone gets all Envy.

There was a thread in the last week about a very cluttered and individual house in E17 for £££££s. The house may have been lovely but it was so individual taste that buyers would be put off just from the pics. Sad

elQuintoConyo · 14/09/2013 14:49

And other threads asking:

Are feature walls naff? (Cos I'd like one, but not if you all told me they were naff)
Could I get away with wearing these boots with this dress?
I heard a mother say his to her 3yo!
Why would anyone want to move to Australia/New Zealand?

Etc, etc. They're all asking for opinions from 'lots of women on a forum'.

You can come round my house and slag it off if you like, I wouldn't giver a tinker's todger Grin

Tee2072 · 14/09/2013 14:49

For the record, if you follow Right Move on Facebook? They highlight some of the same houses we make fun of and are not exactly complementary.

If you put your house on the 'net? People are going to express their opinion.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2013 14:51

Exactly Tee. When people are buying houses they need to judge them, and have an opinion. Confused

Ledkr · 14/09/2013 14:54

If you have a big stuffed figure of an Animal in your lounge people will laugh.

Tee2072 · 14/09/2013 14:54

Yes. And if you aren't smart enough to make you house a "show home"? Then don't be surprised it doesn't sell and that people poke fun at you.

MadBusLady · 14/09/2013 14:54

Would you really be upset? Confused

YANBU to not find it funny/not join in if you don't want to, but really there's so much to be potentially offended by when reading other people's opinions on the internet, you're making a rod for your own back if you mind about stuff like this.

MadBusLady · 14/09/2013 14:56

Also I regularly slag off decor and clothes on the internet that I actually have or have had myself and don't like any more/don't know what I was thinking. Fickle, y'see Grin

DjangoTheDisSilent · 14/09/2013 14:58

Would you really be upset?

With 200+ posts saying -

Wtf is that?
The owner needs a slap.
Most hideous house ever.

Yep I probably would find that quite upsetting. That someone had actively posted the photos from a different website to encourage others to mock.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 14/09/2013 14:59

Then you should probably leave the internet immediately.

Or, you know, not put pictures up on the 'net with weird things in them.

MadBusLady · 14/09/2013 14:59

Well, I stand by the rod-for-your-own-back thing then. Seriously, it's a zoo out there. MNers giggling about twiggy shit and footballers' sex bears does not even register on my scale of evil in the world as depicted on the internet.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2013 15:04

I wouldn't. I would make sure the pictures didn't include anything bizarre, or someone in bed.

But half the people with the cluttered individual houses are happy with their taste and don't give a monkey's what anyone thinks.

filee777 · 14/09/2013 15:06

Please someone link to sex bear house.

BackforGood · 14/09/2013 15:06

I'd have thought it would be quite helpful to find out why it wasn't selling / what people really thought of it rather than polite / filtered comments from the Estate Agent.
Bit like baby names threads really - the fact that people don't know the person, means they are more likely to give more honest opinions.

expatinscotland · 14/09/2013 15:08

Cuz it is funny.

I think.itd be pretty upset but when house hunting I dont recall ever commenting out loud about anyones interior choices obviously I thought in my head oh i dont like that but why bother commenting on it when youre buying the structure and not the personal things inside?youre only going to change it all anyway.
