I don't get it.

Everyone has different tastes. Some would love my house, some would loathe it.

I would be quite upset to know that a large group of women in an internet forum were openly slagging off my house and getting vast enjoyment from it.

Aibu and have no sense of humour?

Anonymous comments are fine. But comments about a family who can be traced and have not chosen to be in the public eye. Not right. If you can't see that then I pity you. It is nasty behaviour.

GemmaTeller · 14/09/2013 19:59

Florence I think you'd better get on and write the mumsnet rule book for property porn threads pretty sharpish

valiumredhead · 14/09/2013 20:00

God grief, some people really do go out of their way to be offended on behalf of others!

valiumredhead · 14/09/2013 20:00

Good

FlorenceMattell · 14/09/2013 20:01

Surely they are personal attacks and against talk guidelines?
And yes you are right I don't have a sense of humour that involves laughing at others.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2013 20:02

A thread on MN isn't exactly in the public eye though is it. In Chat for 90 days then gone. The family isn't in the pics either. Confused

I don't want pity and I am the least nasty person ever.

FlorenceMattell · 14/09/2013 20:03

If these homes were in house and garden, big design, fine have a laugh. But on estate agent websites not fair game.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2013 20:03

You will need to ask MNHQ about that Florence. I don't think insulting someone's downstairs loo/curtains/feature wall is a personal attack is it?

CatAmongThePigeons · 14/09/2013 20:05

Have you read the FAQ Florence? Do you know what a personal attack is?

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2013 20:07

It's 'Your settee is hideous' isn't it Cat?

valiumredhead · 14/09/2013 20:08

It's not a personal attack as you don't know who owns the houseConfused

GemmaTeller · 14/09/2013 20:11

Sparkling

'My addiction to Rightmove and Zoopla ruined my life'

expatinscotland · 14/09/2013 20:12

It doesn't breach the guidelines, Florence.

Chortle away, folks! It's funny.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2013 20:13

Yes Gemma an interview with Holly and Phillip and Denise thingy on This Morning, with a Helpline. Grin

No expat we are all horrible bullies who are to be pitied apparently. Sad

expatinscotland · 14/09/2013 20:14

And it's an attack on . . . a sex bear and an imitation of Johny Depp in a living room.

expatinscotland · 14/09/2013 20:15

I am indeed a pitiful creature, Sparkling, as I spend lonely evenings after the kids go to bed when DH is at work (he works a lot of evenings) looking, and laughing, at fugly homes.

I also go on Amazon and read hilarious reviews where people attack books and products.

It keeps me going :o.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2013 20:16

Did you see the one a few weeks back where there was someone asleep in bed in one of the pics?

ThePuffyShirt · 14/09/2013 20:17

Haha! 'Mumsnet took the piss out of my naff decor'

expatinscotland · 14/09/2013 20:19

Of course I did, Sparkling!

Have you read some of the online reviews of Alexa Chung's biography? You will fall over laughing. They are such funny bullies, they need to join MN! :o

Secretswitch · 14/09/2013 20:20

If you post your house on right move you are aware it will be seen and judged by the masses. If you decorate your bedroom with love kisssex you are inviting pithy remarks on your taste

GemmaTeller · 14/09/2013 20:36

If these homes were in house and garden, big design, fine have a laugh. But on estate agent websites not fair game

So, if its in print we can comment, if its on the web we can't?

What happens if its in a on the website and in a magazine at the same time?

Gosh, property porn politics are hard aren't they?
Is there a degree I can do in it?

Shall we ask MNHQ can Phil Spencer or Kevin McCloud do a live question and answer session?
