to not understand why it's funny to slag off peoples home on rightmove?

I don't get it.

Everyone has different tastes. Some would love my house, some would loathe it.

I would be quite upset to know that a large group of women in an internet forum were openly slagging off my house and getting vast enjoyment from it.

Aibu and have no sense of humour?

Well then has your bear been slagged off via t'internet? Brew

Tee2072 · 14/09/2013 16:28

So when I posted a thread to a house that was on my 'I may actually go look at this one' list in order to laugh at the decorating, that was okay?

Just so I know the rules. Since I was thinking about maybe buying it, I take it it's okay to judge?

kungfupannda · 14/09/2013 16:29

To be fair, I think it is absolutely impossible not to look at that picture and think "Is that a bear having sex?"

I'd missed the sex bear thread, but having looked at the link from this thread, yes, I have to agree that Sex Bear House is an appropriate title.

DjangoTheDisSilent · 14/09/2013 16:30

Well then has your bear been slagged off via t'internet?

Sad

Yes. But I prefer not to talk about it - it's a painful memory.

I only judge houses over a million quid.

I have standards y'see.

Well you are always going to judge.

It's too small, or the layout is wrong, or that carpet needs replacing.

All things you would take into consideration when buying a house.

If you purposely went to view a house just to laugh at it - I'd found that extremely weird and think you had far too much time on your hands.

I'm not sure tbh.

I only tend to get upset about people slagging off things I am not proud of.

I'm proud of our house (though it is a tip - I am proud of the nice tidy bits, and the artwork and the DIY I've done etc) so no, I'd think they just didn't understand and had bad taste in houses.

If they were slagging off my messy floors or my state of mind on a bad day, then yes I'd be upset, because I already know that these suck, and don't want other people to remind me of that.

I'd make sure the photos on rightmove just showed the good bits tbh.

PhallicGiraffe · 14/09/2013 16:32

This is the best thread ever! It's great for laughing at people's houses:

Oh, Django Sad.

It's really not about the house on Rightmove at all then, is it?

Tee2072 · 14/09/2013 16:41

No, I wasn't going to view the house to laugh at.

I did post it on here to laugh at it though. There was this one room where there was a sofa on top of another sofa, I think it was (this was months ago) and I believe my thread was 'Why would you do that?!?!' or similar.

Is that okay with you?

Alohomora · 14/09/2013 16:47

I'm not originally from the UK and can't wrap my head around having to turn a house into a showhome in order for it to sell.

We viewed a house this week that had prettily wrapped gift baskets and toiletries in every corner, a bottle for really expensive champagne on the kitchen counter and was so obviously done up for sale I felt a bit sorry for the owners who were clearly desperate to move.

As I said, I have a completely different perspective - we're going to see one next week where the floors and kitchen have been ripped out and I can't wait to see what I can go and do with it if we buy it!

GemmaTeller · 14/09/2013 16:49

oooh MrsDeVere Envy Envy at pink range cooker !

GemmaTeller · 14/09/2013 16:55

Phallic some great houses on there!

I love the Gaudi house!

Alohomora · 14/09/2013 17:12

God, I have a right yearning for a pink range cooker. We went to a DIY show and DH started drooling over the lilac aga and I couldn't believe it - momentary insanity, I believe.

But then I also like brown leather sofas, feature walls (with LOUD wallpaper) and our wedding dance was 'Rainbow Connection' - how can you argue over the Muppets, if I decided to go totally twee I'd totally smear that on the wall.

Though I'm sure there are a few Gonzo quotes that would be more appropriate for the walls of this madhouse I'm running here!!!!

mercibucket · 14/09/2013 17:15

i dont like it either, so you are not alone. i have just never liked laughing at other people behind their backs, and it feels the same to me

MadBusLady · 14/09/2013 17:16

Wow, that's incredible!

Gaudi house is lovely.

Redlocks · 14/09/2013 17:33

I love the Gaudi house.

Hissy · 14/09/2013 17:34

I work for a company that provides services to estate agents: photos, floorplans etc. I get to design brochures for EA clients all over the UK.

I do actually get paid to look at pics of houses most of the day!

:)

I do like my job! :)

ThePuffyShirt · 14/09/2013 17:41

Wow that's pink! What colour is the rest of the kitchen?

LoopyLoopyLoopy · 14/09/2013 17:44

OMG that bear house is hideous. The garden is so phallic and harsh, never min the horrible 'word art'

Love the Gaudi house.

Great thread, OP, I love looking at peoples' houses and judging, thanks for bringing these to my attention :)

MadBusLady · 14/09/2013 17:48

Oooh Hissy, I didn't know there were companies that did that! Envy Is it the case that some estate agents don't use them and that's where you get all the hopeless spelling and "betwixt" type speak? I've often wondered why some EAs seem so poor at it.
