It's really really upset me, I've had some great support on this forum but I think I have to be off.

Such a shame.

Where did I call you dense? In what context? And in response to what? I say this because 'dense' isn't something I generally call people so I am genuinely interested.

OP posts:
MrsBW · 14/08/2013 22:20

In the thread that was deleted by MNHQ at 11.54:04.

I remember it specifically as I may be guilty of many things... But being 'dense' really isn't one of them.

It's what led me to report a 'personal attack'.

filee777 · 14/08/2013 22:21

The only things I posted on 'that thread' were two comments to the OP, I didn't engage in a debate on it.

Boreoff · 14/08/2013 22:23

Filee, call it a day as you are looking silly now.

Ilovemyself · 14/08/2013 22:24

Boreoff. Don't call filee silly. If you do you will be part of the problem. There. I said it on the Internet so it must be true lol

MrsBW · 14/08/2013 22:26

Post, sorry... Not thread.

filee777 · 14/08/2013 22:26

I'm looking silly because I didn't call someone dense and am being accused of it? Same as I didn't say the army was full of rapists and murderers,

In fact the end of this thread seems to be a whole bunch of people telling me I have said things I have not actually said and making out I am a bigot or ignorant because I hate war, I don't respect people who kill people whether paid or otherwise and I don't believe we have any right or reason to be causing trouble abroad on either a small or a big level.

OP posts:
Boreoff · 14/08/2013 22:27

I don't think this will be the last we hear from filee, to desperate to have the last word.

Boreoff · 14/08/2013 22:28

*too

Boreoff · 14/08/2013 22:31

Proved right!

filee777 · 14/08/2013 22:32

MrsB if I called you dense and it upset you I am sorry, I was very upset by the things I read yesterday and was equally upset by the people who suggested in a variety of ways that I was being irrational by being upset, both by the things I read and by Mumsnet deciding to engage with such 'humans'

I do think that such atrocities are committed abroad, I have been to war-torn countries and I know the craic, I am not some tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist who has never left the island.

OP posts:
Ilovemyself · 14/08/2013 22:33

filee777. I have to say that all of your puffing and panting about this has simply given that website more publicity. I had never heard of it before and went to look out of curiosity.

I couldn't be arsed trawling through the threads to find something offensive so I gave up.

Your wish for a war free world is very noble, but I am sorry to say that there will always be someone whose religion is better than ours, or who dislikes our politics, or dislikes us for some other reason. If we got rid of the military or changed the way that they worked, it's simple. We would end up being a part of something we are not!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 14/08/2013 22:35

So in one post you say you didnt say something and in the next post you apologise for saying the thing you claimed you didnt say....okaaaay....

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 14/08/2013 22:37

So youve been to war torn countries and felt "the craic" ...okaaay...

MrsBW · 14/08/2013 22:37

The post in question started (the one that was deleted) started off with 'I'm basing it on...' In response to my question 'what was the OP making her assertion that Forces were 'more likely to' commit atrocities.

The post went on to give examples of when that had happened, then said 'if you can't see it you must be dense' or some such like.

While skirting around my question which was essentially 'what evidence do of have that Forces are more likely to commit these heinous acts'

Why on earth would I falsely accuse someone of that?

SinisterSal · 14/08/2013 22:38

'the craic' is just an idiom for 'state of play'

ButThereAgain · 14/08/2013 22:39

Boreoff, three posts in a row accusing someone else of being desperate to have the last word?Hmm

Really distasteful to see one poster being ganged up on and abused for a perfectly reasonable set of opinions. She isn't 'puffing', 'panting', being 'silly', 'bigoted'. She is expressing what many people feel -- a viewpoint which is increasingly crowded out in the UK by an overbearing sentimental orthodoxy which requires us to admire soldiers more uncritically than we do any other sort of employee.

MrsBW · 14/08/2013 22:41

I don't think anyone on this thread has said these things haven't happened abroad. That they have is undeniable.

I think craic is an unfortunate choice of words though...

Nancy66 · 14/08/2013 22:41

The OP does NOT have a 'perfectly reasonable set of opinions' and never has throughout.

She is spouting unsubstantiated nonsense and her grasp of history and politics is laughable.

filee777 · 14/08/2013 22:43

What religion is 'ours'?

MrsB originally said it was the other thread that I had insulted her on, I didn't post much on that thread so I know that to be untrue. I may well have suggested that if you don't see that the military can and do commit atrocities abroad then you are dense and she might have been offended by that, I have no issue apologising for it.

OP posts:
Ilovemyself · 14/08/2013 22:44

butthteagain. So you think it is reasonable to state that the armed forces are full of rapists and murders. Interesting.

That was the comment where the OP lost any credibility. That and the part where she said she was going and didn't...........

MrsBW · 14/08/2013 22:45

I have no idea what your last post means filee'Confused

filee777 · 14/08/2013 22:45

I actually have a very good grasp of politics, history not so much but I study politics and social economics a lot.

OP posts:
Boreoff · 14/08/2013 22:45

And I think some of what filee has said is distasteful and insulting to the many good men and women in the British forces and their families.

filee777 · 14/08/2013 22:46

It means if you were and are offended by me calling you dense, then I apologise for it.
