To have expected a soft play to serve toast to a baby

I have just left a play centre early and really annoyed. I forgot to bring a snack for my ds who has just turned one.
I was going to buy a banana from the soft play cafe but they were black.
I asked for a piece of toast and was told very rudely no as it was not breakfast time . I asked if they had an suitable baby snacks and was offered quavers! I asked again politely for toast as they sold nothing suitable for a baby but was told no ( despite a loaf and toaster in full view)
AIBU to think it is good customer service just to make a piece of flipping toast for a baby?

Why should they? Toast isn't a snack they offer all day!!! If they did and refused then your not ... But given circumstances yes u r

littlemisswise · 10/08/2013 16:22

YABU they don't make toast all day.

PearlyWhites · 10/08/2013 16:23

Customer service is a bit dire in this country though, it wouldn't have killed them. I presume you asked nicely!

SofiaVagueara · 10/08/2013 16:23

YABU, it wasn't available at that time.

picnicbasketcase · 10/08/2013 16:25

Wouldn't bread and butter cut into fingers been basically the same thing and presumably available later in the day?

Whothefuckfarted · 10/08/2013 16:25

Couldn't you have bought a sandwich or anything else at all from the cafe?

I don't understand why you couldn't just buy something from the menu at the time..

WorraLiberty · 10/08/2013 16:25

You've posted this thread twice

When you say you were told 'very rudely', what exactly do you mean?

mumeeee · 10/08/2013 16:25

YABU if someone saw them making toast for you they might ask for some as well, Quavers wouldn't have hurt your one year old.

JerseySpud · 10/08/2013 16:25

YABU and a bit entitled.

Pascha · 10/08/2013 16:26

I don't understand why a one year old couldn't have anything else from the menu?

TidyDancer · 10/08/2013 16:26

I'm pretty sure both of my DCs had some quavers as babies. What's wrong with them as a one off?

Tbh I think since it was you who forgot the snack you should either accept what's on offer or accept that your DS will go without a snack.

heidihole · 10/08/2013 16:28

Personally I don't see why they couldn't do you some toast!

And quavers are not a suitable food for a 1yr old IMO.

neunundneunzigluftballons · 10/08/2013 16:31

Yanbu toast is no hassle to make and so long as you paid for it they had a sale. Why refuse?

Thepowerof3 · 10/08/2013 16:34

This thread shows how we are just a accustomed to poor service, entitled? I love that one! How much does it take to bung a slice of bread in the toaster. This is not a particularly child friendly country IMO

PearlyWhites · 10/08/2013 16:35

My ds was prem and has only been weaned for two months he doesn't eat full meals yet.

If they sold cheap slices of toast all day, the cafe would probably go out of business.

Viviennemary · 10/08/2013 16:37

It is annoying when cafes won't bend the rules as some are very accommodating and others not so much. But on the other hand if they said yes to you then maybe they would have been innundated with requests for toast. But they could have made the toast for hungry baby if they had compassion.

LaGuardia · 10/08/2013 16:37

Another complaint about indoor soft play. Why does anyone bother going? These places are hell on earth/full of germs/run by money-grabbing morons. YANBU.

MummyPig24 · 10/08/2013 16:38

Our soft play serves toast as part of the main menu.

But if I were you I would have just said ok and chosen something else.

livinginwonderland · 10/08/2013 16:38

YABU. If they'd made it for you, they'd have to have made it for everyone else who asked. I don't personally see a big deal with him having quavers as a one off. I think if you forget a snack, you just have to accept the choices or let him go hungry for a bit.

Thepowerof3 · 10/08/2013 16:38

It's not a cafe it's a soft play area, I doubt they'd get hoards of people just desperate for toast lining up

JerseySpud · 10/08/2013 16:38

I say entitled because the OP didn't take their own snack. They then refused what was on offer and asked for something they didnt have/couldnt do.

So yes. Entitled.

Thepowerof3 · 10/08/2013 16:39

Very true LaGuardia
