AIBU?

To think that parents that smoke near their DC should be prosecuted....

If you forced a child to eat/drink a carcenogenic substance you would be arrested. But just because the poison comes from a licenced, taxed product then this seems to be perfectly acceptable.

Lung disease is too common in children of smokers and yet the authorities do fuck all about the cause.

Also parents of obese children should be prosecuted for abuse. It is the parents fault that their offspring are fat. Recently a 10 yr old girl weighed in at 24stone!!!!!! Now the NHS/SS will have to pick up the tab for getting this poor child back to a healthy weight.

I have 3DC all have a healthy relationship with food, exercise and their bodies. Its not fucking rocket science.

I'd like to prosecute all mothers wearing linen trousers and all men wearing 3/4 leg shorts

Can we please expand the prosecutions to people that wear Lynx and other noisome products?

Oh, god yes. Mind you, that would include DS2. Smile

Mn is very pro-smoking this week. No just pro 'sick and fucking tired of bollocks goady threads' I would say.

It's not as though being a non smoker and not giving your dc crisps makes someone an excellent parent by default

Sad That was my only fucking shot at being a good parent. Now destroyed by Pat

I just made my child beans on toast on WHITE bread, a bag of doritos and an apple for her lunch, with a bottle of water to take out with her to play in the street where I am not watching her. I am going to prosecute myself.

OP, what penalties are you proposing for these parenting offences? If it's a jail term, then I have something to confess ...

Oh yes, HoneyDragon. Wine

I'd confess to any old shit to get a few days of uninterrupted sleep, and my DCs are bloody teenagers who crash in at 1am

I've just been to a fun day event and we stood and queued for an hour for a tree climbing activity (that I stupidly promised dd she could do thinking the queue didn't look that long!) Behind 2 mums who, over the hour smoked 5 cigs each (at least - yes I was that bored I counted!) I know or was in the open but it was wafting over my 3dc (and there DC too). Hate it.

People on here will say they have a right to smoke etc, well my 2 grandfathers died of smoking related diseases as did one of dh's so I'm sensitive about it an not going to apologise. I don't think it could be policed but smoking anywhere near kids is unacceptable imo.

Isn't smoking in cars with children illegal in some countries? I know that's a bit different from what the OP is suggesting, but I wouldn't mind seeing something similar implemented here. It's not as if you can't get out of the car to smoke is it?

Agree that the idea of prosecution for a legal activity is taking it a step too far but my stepkids mum obviously smoked whilst they were around in an enclosed space and they would reek of smoke which is extremely unpleasant on a child.

Not only that but the smoke smell from their clothes and hair would then transfer onto our soft furnishings. We did raise this with her but she didn't seem to think it was a problem so perhaps it's education that's key here - she obviously didn't think what she was doing was a problem which frankly I found a problem in itself!

Ahem. No personal attacks or trollhunting, people. Or we may have to prosecute a few of you ourselves.

(The OP's been around on MN for a while, if that helps any).

Helen, who's troll hunting? Confused

Pointing out the opening post is rather goading in its style has been expressed by a few, but no actual troll accusations [bewildered]

No, but you did tell the OP to fuck off.
Report
LuisSuarezTeeth · 07/08/2013 17:22

Actually no, I said that the OP started a goady thread and then fucked off. Ever so slightly different. If I had told op to fuck off then I would quite rightly be deleted and accept graciously. Sorry to split hairs.
