To think they've ruined Dr Who by not casting someone young and hot?

I mean, why else would I want to watch it?!

Just asked my 11 year old if she thought Peter Capaldi was too old to be The Doctor and she looked at me like I was an idiot. She thinks he has the doctor aura about him and ultimately as long as he does a good job it doesn't matter if he's 25 or 85.

SilverOldie · 05/08/2013 14:10

I'm so pleased the new Doctor is Peter Capaldi, I can start watching again. He is a fantastic actor and I think will be a great Doctor Who. At least I can start watching again, I couldn't stand Karen Gillan and Matt Smith was demented - really put me off.

babster · 05/08/2013 14:12

If they would now cast Jo Brand as his assistant, I'd start watching again.

Arnie123 · 05/08/2013 14:13

As the Doctor is supposed to be over 900 years old I think Capaldi looks pretty good.

Lottapianos · 05/08/2013 14:14

No PedantMarina, I still think he's super hot Wink although DP did comment that he looked like he 'didn't mean a word of that'.

'Not that I watch Doctor Who....but I'm imagining Roger "Peter Manyum" Allam as the Dr now.
That'd be ace.
With Joanna Scanlan (Terri in TTOI) as his assistant'

Grin That would be epic!

Eyesunderarock · 05/08/2013 14:15

Hopefully at 11 your DD is still looking at the series for its imaginative plots and dramatic twists. Rather than dreaming of a shagfest, or rating the actor as a hottie or not.
It all gives me the creeps really, in the way that the Twilighters do. Grin

minouminou · 05/08/2013 14:26

It would be epic!
Terri defeating whatever dastardly intergalactic villain with a withering look and a click of her pen,...

Lottapianos · 05/08/2013 14:29

Or doing sweet sod all, sitting back in her chair, faffing about with emails and giving the Doctor some rubbish excuse like 'well I had to go and fetch Glen.....'

God I love The Thick of It Grin It's the funniest program of all time and Malcolm is the greatest character of all time

minouminou · 05/08/2013 14:31

I love it too.
I reck

minouminou · 05/08/2013 14:32

....reckon they'll sneak a TTOI character in.

Someone not too obvious, like Angela that rat-faced hack, or Julius.

PedantMarina · 05/08/2013 14:48

OK, have now read all (seven pages so far) of the thread and has nobody before mentioned the 12th Doctor is meant to be a Dark One? Esp since there are posters who hint at PC maybe being able to do real acting, etc.

I'm not sure I understand the whole concept, but DP told me ages ago about this bit of the Whooniverse (love that word, btw!). But I don't see anybody else mentioning it, so maybe he's wrong?

Me soes confused now.

Lottapianos · 05/08/2013 14:53

Oh the Right Honourable Lord Nicholson of Arnage - he would make a fantastic baddy! Grin

MrsMymble · 05/08/2013 14:54

Peter Capaldi is old enough to be my dad but he makes me come over all unnecessary. He's not conventional heart throb material but he has plenty of charisma. I definitely would! I feel a bit sad seeing comments online about him being 'ugly' and 'old'. How very nasty. I hope his family don't read any of them.

expatinscotland · 05/08/2013 14:57

Matt smith is hot? Boak. Or David Tennant?

minouminou · 05/08/2013 15:02

PC is also quite a gay icon.
I know quite a few young men who'd love a good Tuckering.

motherinferior · 05/08/2013 15:03

I'm quite sure his family will see the accompanying list of people of all ages, genders and sexuality queuing up to get their hands on his body.

curlew · 05/08/2013 16:21

I thought Matt Smith looked like a graceless oaf last night. I wanted to shout "0h, ffs, you're not a teenager, get your act together, look at the camera and give a decent performance!"

curlew · 05/08/2013 16:22

And it was a bit odd seeing Malcolm Tucker smiling and coming over all luvvy and talking about finding the Doctor...........

motherinferior · 05/08/2013 16:28

I would quite like to play Doctor with him

piprabbit · 05/08/2013 16:31

curlew - I agree about Matt Smith looking like a twit last night.

PC is a welcome face, but I am still secretly pining for Tilda Swinton.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 05/08/2013 16:35

I love Capaldi.

Matt Smith is a weird-looking old man/young man hybrid and can't act for toffee. Won't be sorry to see the back of him. I'd have loved a female Doctor though, or maybe Ben Whishaw.

Lottapianos · 05/08/2013 16:36

LadyClarice, you wash your mouth out this instant! Never speak of my favourite Doctor that way Wink

Eyesunderarock · 05/08/2013 16:38

Did Matt Smith not choose to leave?
Why was he such a grump yesterday?

PenguinBear · 05/08/2013 16:40

YANBU, I agree, it won't be the same without Matt Smith and no-one else will suffice.

NoComet · 05/08/2013 16:40

I have a 12y Twilighter and she is seriously unimpressed.

Personally I don't think he's fanciable, but he might be a good Dr. Matt Smith too young and too bouncy, but I don't do physical humour.

Taking all the lovey doveyness away would be good. They ruined Dispicable me 2 with too much of that and too few minion jokes.
