To think they've ruined Dr Who by not casting someone young and hot?

I mean, why else would I want to watch it?!

He's not young and hot. He is 55 and hot. What's not to like?

EvenCowgirlsGetTheBlues · 04/08/2013 21:54

A bit of PETER CAPALDI trivia for you ... did you know that PETER CAPALDI wrote and directed the 1994 OSCAR winning short film FRANZ KAFKA'S IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE ... also stars a certain housekeeper from DOWNTON ABBEY - PHYLISS LOGAN, KEN STOTT and RICHARD E GRANT!

Enjoy!

xx

EvenCowgirlsGetTheBlues · 04/08/2013 22:15

Oh and so YES would I like to have a rumble in the jungle with PETER CAPALDI. He is so hot and naughty! x

mystaplerisevil · 04/08/2013 22:19

i really loved christopher eccleston but will now look forward to peter

lol it's a kids show though isn't is

Ficklefrancis · 04/08/2013 22:19

I'm totally gutted and loved Matt Smith :( I'm sure the new guy will make it his own and be ok but I really was rather looking forward to another hotty seeing as the blokes get the young companions to gawp at.

Scarletohello · 04/08/2013 22:23

Always thought Matt Smith was too young to be the Dr. Isn't it supposed to be someone who is wise and experienced ( or maybe now he's supposed to be some kind of action hero which is why they wanted a younger man?) Always thought Richard E Grant wd be a great Dr, he's so eccentric...!!

Scarletohello · 04/08/2013 22:27

And, as always ( I know it's British but..) wish it was BRADLEY COOPER! I would watch anything with him in ( tho had to switch Hangover 3 off as it was sooo bad!) oh, and he speaks French

< totally derailed thread..>

Bunbaker · 04/08/2013 22:29

Matt Smith ruined it for me with his gabbling. I think PC will be a much better doctor.

AlexReidsLonelyBraincell · 04/08/2013 22:35

David Tennant talks with his bottom teeth, just watch him. I never got the fuss about him.

I love having an older man crush, think I may have just found my new one. :)

ouryve · 04/08/2013 22:50

Yabu. It might actually be worth watching again. So long as the writing improves, too.

WibbleBoy · 04/08/2013 23:13

One word: Gravitas

And yes, I probably would ;)

nennypops · 04/08/2013 23:15

Who says Dr Who has to be young? William Hartnell was 55 when he started, Patrick Troughton was 46.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 04/08/2013 23:16

I'm looking forward to it. It really REALLY does depend on the quality of the scripts that he is given though how well he will take to the role. I mean when Christopher Ecclestone left, a LOT of people were wondering how David Tennant would take to the role but he made it his own, and in fairness to him, I think Matt Smith made his own niche mark as the Doctor too. I think we need to give Peter Capaldi a bit of a break and give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

hellsbells99 · 04/08/2013 23:21

I was hoping for Rupert Penry-Jones - I could watch him 24/7!!!!

Anjou · 04/08/2013 23:25

YABU. What Doctors are hot?! Matt Smith has got a head like a Nik-Nak. Not hot. Or spicy.

justmyview · 04/08/2013 23:28

HeadfirstForHalos · 04/08/2013 23:39

" i still wonder why the didn't just 'debut' him in the new series rather that this farcical zoe ball show"

It's because once filming with Peter Capaldi gets under way the press will leak it, so they might as well get a high ratings show out of the reveal! Filming for the special starts next month, he will be in the ending at least.

gordyslovesheep · 04/08/2013 23:46

not all Dr Who fans are young and hot - I am 43 and perimenopausal - it's ice to have a Dr that is older than me for one so I don't feel so bad for fancying him

Capitola · 05/08/2013 00:00

I know nothing about Dr Who and have never heard of this bloke, but my dcs were watching the show.

He seems like he'd be perfectly suitable, if a little old.

LessMissAbs · 05/08/2013 00:04

I really don't like older men, but even I have to admit that Peter Capaldi as Doctor Who will be hot. A bit like David Tennant would have been had he stayed on, which I wish he had. I didn't like Matt Smith much.

LessMissAbs · 05/08/2013 00:05

Saying that, if it were not for Peter Capaldi, my dream Dr Who would have been Tilda Swinton.

is Peter Capaldi really 55 surely not

AmIthatHot · 05/08/2013 00:21

Did people really think Matt Smith was hot Confused

Peter Capaldi just looks so right for the part. And he was in the fabulous Crow Road last week.

Great actor, will start watching again

He is a sensible age, he has eyebrows, he is reasonably attractive, and more importantly, can act his way out of a wet paper bag, so, after Matt Smith, its a win win situation. YABU!

HatFullofStars · 05/08/2013 00:57

I'm a happy bunny !

Me and the DH actually cheered when it turned out the rumours were true - just wish I'd put money on him.

Hope he's grumpy like Colin Baker was.
