To think they've ruined Dr Who by not casting someone young and hot?

I mean, why else would I want to watch it?!

I am saddened by the rivals for the attention of the divine Doctor. I have fancied the pants off him in quite graphic detail for some years now. I am cancelling anything that may take me out of the house on Saturday nights for the foreseeable future.

satsumagirl · 04/08/2013 20:32

Hubba Hubba, I would. Hot, smart and he can time travel. What's not to like?

David Tennant was a hottie too. Fwooooooarrgh.

Basically I am turning into a pervy middle aged housewife who gets the horn from prime time BBC 1

motherinferior · 04/08/2013 20:33

I think he needs a short red-haired 50 year old side kick, really. Am nobly prepared to offer myself. Oh yesGrin

IneedAyoniNickname · 04/08/2013 20:34

Well ds1 (8) thinks he looks like someone who would be the doctor, and I seriously hope he doesn't judge based on how hot they are! Ds2 (6) just wants to know what the new Dr will wear

And while I said up thread that I like the new choice, and that I would, that is not the reason I watch! although its the reason I started when dt became the Dr

curlew · 04/08/2013 20:36

Could he have two short red headed 50 year old assistants do you think.......?

persimmon · 04/08/2013 20:37

I love Peter C but will be expecting him to eff and blind all the time, having watched him so much in The Thick of It. The Compulsive Swearing Doctor - now there's an interesting twist.
'My' doctor will always be Tom Baker.

navada · 04/08/2013 20:40

Grin motherinferior.

WetAugust · 04/08/2013 20:52

Well, well, well, - the new Dr Who is Danny from my favourite film Local Hero (1983) His scenes with Jenny Seagrove were great.

I had no idea that he'd done all this 'In the thick of It' stuff in the interim as I never watched it.

LineRunner · 04/08/2013 21:07

I am 51 and quite prepared to in and take one for the team. Grin

Or indeed give him one.

LineRunner · 04/08/2013 21:07

to go in

PoppyAmex · 04/08/2013 21:11

I've never watched Dr. Who before, but I might start now!

YABU, Peter is smoking hot and a brilliant actor.

Aethelfleda · 04/08/2013 21:11

Sorry seven YABU. We needed someone older for a bit of contrast. Now what would really be the icing on the cake would be a male companion, who's not trying to get in the Doctor's plus-fours.....

How about Johnny Depp?

LineRunner · 04/08/2013 21:15

Or Chris Addison.

sydenhamhiller · 04/08/2013 21:20

Very excited about Peter Capaldi-- although can only imagine him as a very sweary Malcolm Tucker (is that the the right name?).

However, I had not realised that Idris Elba was in the running... Have had a crush on him since 'The Wire', never mind Luther.

Trills · 04/08/2013 21:22

I don't think that any of them have been "young and hot".

mystaplerisevil · 04/08/2013 21:26

oh how sweet (the letter) my ds who is obsessed with dr who is very pleased. i still wonder why the didn't just 'debut' him in the new series rather that this farcical zoe ball show

weebarra · 04/08/2013 21:34

Love Capaldi, great actor and lots of magnetism. Think he'll be good.

LineRunner · 04/08/2013 21:38

DS and I thought Zoe Ball ruined it.

Dfg15 · 04/08/2013 21:40

Hot !!! seriously? I must be missing something.

Madsometimes · 04/08/2013 21:40

Of the recent doctors, I loved Christopher Eccleston and thought he had some excellent stories too. I still remember watching the episode with the shop dummies and thinking wow, this is even better than I remember from being a kid.

I think Peter C will be similar, a little angry hopefully. I liked the hard man doctor. I just hope Moffat steps upto the plate and writes some good episodes, because I sat through a load of rubbish last season. Only one I enjoyed was The Crimson Horror. I think Moffat let Matt Smith down.

Dfg15 · 04/08/2013 21:43

I'll watch the 50th anniversary episode just to get a last glimpse at DT, then I'll probably give up!

cushtie335 · 04/08/2013 21:45

Another vote for YABVVVVU. The Capaldster (TM Cushtie) is one very hot patata. Whooped with joy at the announcement.

pointythings · 04/08/2013 21:46

I agree, Madsometimes - Dr Who needs to go back to being get-behind-the-sofa scary and I think Peter Capaldi can do that. As long as he gets some decent scripts.

Patchouli · 04/08/2013 21:50

Great casting.
I might go back to watching it now.
