To think they've ruined Dr Who by not casting someone young and hot?

I mean, why else would I want to watch it?!

OP posts:
jamdonut · 04/08/2013 20:07

I think he will be fabulous. Quite excited actually!

DameFanny · 04/08/2013 20:07

Ooh Yabu. Tucker in the Tardis will be AWESOME.

curlew · 04/08/2013 20:08

YANBU. Meh, too old and I don't know who he is"

Presumably because the only TV you watch is Big Brother and Come Dine With Me?

jamdonut · 04/08/2013 20:09

Apparently William Hartnell was 55 when he became the Doctor...which is Peter Capaldi's age. (Sorry if anyones already mentioned this)

pointythings · 04/08/2013 20:09

I think he will be great. He's such a good actor, and he will be able to do the ruthless and scary doctor so much better than the younger ones. A Dr Who for grown ups at last, hurray!

Lagoonablue · 04/08/2013 20:10

Great actor. Bet he is brilliant.

treas · 04/08/2013 20:11

YABU - Great choice.

Thank goodness it will mean no romance / flirting with the plucky assistance.

treas · 04/08/2013 20:11

assistants - doh

jamdonut · 04/08/2013 20:12

And don't forget he was in The Fires of Pompeii, as a Roman (not soldier...senator or something) and he and his family got a ride in the Tardis to save them from the volcano. Same episode Karen Gillan was first in Doctor Who.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 04/08/2013 20:12

YABU and sound like a 12 yer old

LineRunner · 04/08/2013 20:12

Absolutely, DameFanny. Tucker in the fucking Tardis.

Normalbutleaking · 04/08/2013 20:14

I see on facebook my brother has written that peter capaldi was Pompeii. I also hate when they do that.

fuzzpig · 04/08/2013 20:14

I had deliberately avoided reading any of the lead up to this so I didn't know who was in the running.

I am pleased with the choice.

I have not told DH why. :o

Normalbutleaking · 04/08/2013 20:14

sorry jamdonut, xpost

timidviper · 04/08/2013 20:15

I think he is far better than other recent Doctors, I thought David Tennant was too tongue-in-cheek and Matt Smith just too young to have any authority in the role.

curlew · 04/08/2013 20:15

"Thank goodness it will mean no romance / flirting with the plucky assistance."

What, because he's so old? Jesus wept!

Saffyz · 04/08/2013 20:17

I find him creepy as I've only seen him play villains! Dr Who is meant to be a bit nicer, someone you can warm to. Will be interesting to see how he plays the role.

Toptack · 04/08/2013 20:17

YANBU. There is nothing even remotely sexy about Peter Capaldi. My vote would have been for Idris Elba (along with the sensible posters upthread).

Figgygal · 04/08/2013 20:18

Totally totally YABU who isn't about totty look at Sylvester McCoy for Christ sake!!!

He will be amazing!!

Just hope they give him better bloody storylines than matt smith had .....and get rid of Clara she is even worse than Amy pond

OneStepCloser · 04/08/2013 20:21

Well I would, him and Christopher Ecclestone. I stopped watching during Matt Smith so I'm looking forward to watching again.

IcedCoffeeQueen · 04/08/2013 20:21

yanbu far too old for my liking and for ds 7, I screamed noooo at the hand shot could tell it was a much older actor from that, david tennant was thee doctor imo.

IslaValargeone · 04/08/2013 20:23

Just adding to the "I would" voters.

DaleyBump · 04/08/2013 20:24

I would. I really would. All night long.

HibernoCaledonian · 04/08/2013 20:25

I don't mind The Doctor's age but I really don't like Peter Capaldi.

I was hoping that since he'd already played a main character in the Whoniverse he wouldn't be picked.

navada · 04/08/2013 20:28

He's 55 not 90! I'd love to see him flirting.....Mmmm - he could flirt with me any day Grin
