For the people not taking it?

Just been to a 'party' at a house. Big divide between the drug takers and the non drug takers. Drug takers up and down the stairs for a line. No conversation. The rest of us flailing in the non atmosphere.

Grrr. I work in a bar so I put up with this shit at work. Now it's every time I go out for a drink or to a house.

36.5% of adults have taken coke? But a lot of adults are really old...like pensioners, so that makes the % of under 50's even higher, surely.

There's never any coke at any parties I go to.

All this 'alcohol is better than drugs' belief is very wrong in my opinion. I have no understanding why one is legal and the other illegal.

I know huge numbers of people whose lives have been harmed or eneded by alcohol use and abuse. From drowning to falling. Choking on their own vomit. Children suffering lives of extreme poverty because of a heavy drinking culture that was completely legal.

I think that lots of us kid ourselves about our substance of choice..

I have looked after various pensioners who've taken drugs during their lives (likely to include coke).

Don't forget pension age was only 60 until very recently for some lucky women!

I know 60 yr olds I work with who still get drunk regularly so I bet they would try or have tried various drugs in the not too distant past.

Anyone who was a teen / 20something in the 1960s may have tried drugs and would be a pensioner now too.

I can't even drink alcohol right now because of all the meds I have to take; yesterday I was at a festival and desperate for a Pimms or a lager but nooo.

So for me drugs are definitely out of the question except weed (but got MH probs so can't have that either).

But as I said before I wouldn't take coke due to the background of the drug and links to organised crime and the effects on civillians caught up in the South American drug wars.
PMSL at 'Fairtrade' Coke but it's true, I bet lots of people who take coke also care about 'ethically sourced produce' etc etc!!

And I definitely agree alcohol is just as bad for people as illegal drugs can be if taken to excess.

Doesn't stop me wanting a drink though.

Actually quite a lot of them don't.

It's a bit like anything (drugs/alcohol) - some people take it and are relatively fine and some people take it and act like wankers. Bit like drink really.

I gave my DP his first MDMA experience when he was 29, he was also a music lover beforehand but I can still remember the look on his face when it kicked in (while listening to the Stone Roses )

I am very grown up and sensible these days, but I'm glad I spent a good 14 years of my life (intermittently) exploring the chemical side of life. I would be happy with my daughter doing that in a safe and controlled way when she's older. I have however lost three good friends to heroin and would be absolutely distraught if she ever tried that.
