Why do some of the comments posted have to get quite so bitchy?

Reedybookworm · 06/07/2013 11:40

I must be naive, but have been shocked at some of the bitchy comments posted by others on here, really new to this, and its quite fascinating how there are people who seem to search out others and keep replying to their threads with just bitchy comments? What has happened to good old debate? Happy to learn, to be given more information so I can maybe reform my initial opinion. Now i am wondering How do these people respond when their family say something they disagree on? Do they swear at them? Hope not! So please don't reply to this thread unless you are going to be reasonable about it.

Why start a thread with such a goady title?

Biscuit
ilovesooty · 06/07/2013 11:46

Here we go again...

And if the OP is expecting loads of reasonable responses this should be interesting.

ilovesooty · 06/07/2013 11:48

And you can't expect to start a thread and dictate the responses or tell people whether to post.

Ruprekt · 06/07/2013 11:49

Because we are honest and it gives us an outlet to say what we really feel rather than trying to be diplomatic like we are in real life!

BlameClaimProfit · 06/07/2013 11:49

You obviously don't read many internet forums. The rules are:

a) never admit a mistake
b) if logic is not on your side, unleash the insults
c) if yours is the majority viewpoint, it is unequivocally correct
d) never change your viewpoint
e) never learn anything

YouStayClassySanDiego · 06/07/2013 11:50

*Don't reply to this thread unless you are going to be reasonable about it' Grin As If!.

There are people who seem to search out others and keep replying to their threads with just bitchy comments There are some goady, annoying Posters but I tend to ignore them and their nastiness.

Ragwort · 06/07/2013 11:52

There are so many threads on mumsnet that you don't have to get involved with any bitchy/sweary comments if you don't want to.

You tend to get to know the Posters who enjoy being confrontational so if that is not your style move on to another thread; I've managed to be on Mumsnet over 12 years without swearing or being bitchy (I think Grin).

KobayashiMaru · 06/07/2013 11:55

You didn't ask an AIBU. Maybe you could repost in "whining about how you aren't all sweetness and light" section?

ilovesooty · 06/07/2013 11:57

I'm just wondering when the recommendation to Netmums is going to be posted.

Reedybookworm · 06/07/2013 11:58

Thanks Blameclaimprofit. So, Now fully armed with rules, so the do unto others as you would want others to do to you goes out of the window with mums net. Thank you Ragwort, this was the thread I was recommended to go on, hmmmm think my friends sense if humour has ramped up another notch of evil...... Hahaha. Revenge will be swift. Back to thread then. Not sure that I was dictating responses. But hohum. Don't think mum sent is for me.

Mn is not known as a nest of vipers for nothing Grin

ilovesooty · 06/07/2013 12:03

Tee perhaps I should have said I was surprised it hadn't been posted yet :-)

TheCuntingPigeon · 06/07/2013 12:05

Coo coo

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 06/07/2013 12:10

I agree with ragwort. You come to learn who is goady or who is taking their anger at life out on people on a forum and just avoid. There's a few now that I've learnt to just scroll past as soon as I see their nicknames and avoid threads started by them too. Everyone has bad days and might post nastily now and then but the ones who do it all the time become easy to recognise!

HoneyDragon · 06/07/2013 12:11

Fucking pigeon!!!!!!!!'

I've forgotten what I was going to say now...

Oh yes. Uabu, but you've said we can't tell you that.

I shall report my post forthwith

ScrambledSmegs · 06/07/2013 12:14

This section is called Am I Being Unreasonable? Could you please point me to the part of your OP* where you require feedback on the Unreasonableness or not of your opinion?

And if AIBU is the only section of Mumsnet that you've explored it generally isn't representative of the entire site. You tend to get more robust and forthright opinions here.

*Original Post, if you haven't found the acronyms list yet.

RoooneyMara · 06/07/2013 12:15

Reedy, you're hardly new, you joined in February. And in the last couple of days you've started at least three rather discontented threads...one about women and wimbledon, one about children being breastfed and now this.

Why did it take you so long to start posting properly when you joined 6 months ago?

I enjoy the banter and bitchiness of AIBU. I loved hearing people's viewpoints and my own opinions have been altered by the arguments presented on mumsnet.

If you're the sort of person who is easily offended or upset by criticism, I would avoid AIBU. I have been flamed like a good'un in my time but you can't let it bother you.
