Why do some of the comments posted have to get quite so bitchy?

I must be naive, but have been shocked at some of the bitchy comments posted by others on here, really new to this, and its quite fascinating how there are people who seem to search out others and keep replying to their threads with just bitchy comments? What has happened to good old debate? Happy to learn, to be given more information so I can maybe reform my initial opinion. Now i am wondering How do these people respond when their family say something they disagree on? Do they swear at them? Hope not! So please don't reply to this thread unless you are going to be reasonable about it.

I tend to only go on MN in the evening once everyone is in bed and I've had a glass of wine, I think sometimes I am a bit blunt . Plus some threads are such wind ups! But, I do think if you don't want to really know what people think you probably shouldn't ask. (No excuse for out and out bitchiness tho)
