To have a section when not medically neccessary

First post, Id like some opinions please. I appreciate it sounds a bit trollish so feel free to ignore it.
Im expecting my 3rd child in December, my husband is only able to be at the birth if it is a planned caesarean during school hours, otherwise he will have to look after our children as there is nobody else to.

My first was born by emergency C-section under general so my husband had to leave the room, my second was a VBAC and my husband was at home with our then 2 year old. He would love to be there.. I watch the fathers snivelling on One Born Every Minute and feel really ripped off

The VBAC was lovely but its hard work (obv) especially without someone to encourage you, and I sort of feel like I cant be arsed again. Also I had to go to theatre for an hour immediately after the baby was born, for manual removal of the placenta and stitches. Poor baby was left alone... still makes me feel sad.

I do know the risks of a section, and the cost to the NHS etc.
Home birth is out, having had a section... Im not really the type anyway.

Thank you in advance

DS1 was an emergency CS after a long labour. He ended up in neo natal for his first 3 hours.

I had a VBAC for DS2. The labour was much shorter, but ended up in theatre with forceps and a 3rd degree tear. I knew it was a gamble. A planned CS would have been a more known bet. The VBAC was more painful for the first two weeks, but I would still chance a second VBAC as the recovery was much quicker. The first few weeks still weren't easy, but I had the strength that I didn't have after the CS.

If childcare really is the main consideration, I would still gamble on VBAC. My chances of caring for my family in the weeks after are better. I have a better chance of coming out of hospital quickly. You aren't guarenteed the CS in convenient hours anyway. When I went into labour, DS1 (2) was picked up by a friend. She'd prepared him with a few nights at her house in the months before so it wasn't unknown for him.

As you have already had a VBAC, concerns of scar rupture are much lower- enquire about homebirth if it appeals more. If I had to labour alone, I'd prefer a doula to help. In both labours, I've retreated into my own zone anyway.

Whatever you decide, I hope you have an easier experience this time.
