I think DS gave a good reply to a rude woman

In short. Full bus. Heavily pregnant woman got on with push chair. DS was sitting in the adjacent buggy/luggage seat.

He got up and said "would you like my seat?" (she was parking her buggy)

She said "oh just fuck right off"

He said "I'm so sorry, I thought you were pregnant now I realise you are just fat and rude and I apologise for thinking your need might be greater than mine"

disclaimer< he can tell the difference between post natal baby belly and a 9 month distended stomach in a crop top.

disclaimer 2< I do realise he is legally a child himself, but his height, build and hairiness pitches him mid 20's.

Good for him. No need for her to respond like that.

What was her response?

Sparklypinknails · 05/06/2013 23:03

How old is he? This will affect my reply Grin

That sounded weird. I meant the younger he is the more impressed I will be! I'm impressed with the quick thinking! I'd just be growling in the inside.

HollyBerryBush · 05/06/2013 23:07

He's 17.

I have taught him sarcasm well.

And yes, he scuttled behind some other people in case she kicked off.

Again yes he would have stood up for anyone reasonably older than himself, with bags, in a chair, with children

Oh this post made me laugh ! Good for him, no need for such rudeness.

shoofly · 05/06/2013 23:08

Grin very impressed by your ds!

Fluffymonster · 05/06/2013 23:09

I think under the circumstances his reply was both eloquent and appropriate. Grin

housework · 05/06/2013 23:09

What did she say next and was she definitely pregnant?

IneedAsockamnesty · 05/06/2013 23:10

Good answer.

Did she say or do anything after that?

RoomForASmallOne · 05/06/2013 23:10

Your DS is excellent Grin

auntmargaret · 05/06/2013 23:11

You have taught him well, Obi-Wan Grin

I need to know how she reacted!!

pigletmania · 05/06/2013 23:13

That's a great reply Grin, nothing wrong with that!

HollyBerryBush · 05/06/2013 23:15

He hid (LMAO)

I did say "O M G are you sure she wasn't just chubby " >dies a thousand deaths at being thought still pregnant with baby blubber<

"no Mum, her belly button was sticking out and she was about to drop"

But that was no response to someone doing you a kind deed was it? She was parking up a buggy and he was in the adjacent seat and moved for her. amazed as he's usually plugged into his iphone

auntmargaret · 05/06/2013 23:16

Still, he's brave. I'd maybe get another bus for a while, just in case there's a nutter boyfriend around.

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 05/06/2013 23:17

Oh I don't think it was a good response at all! I am shocked at those who are saying good on him!

She may have just had terrible news...she may have been mentally ill...there is never a good reason to be nasty to someone and no...not even if they've said mean things to you first.

Especially not to a pregnant woman. Not at all!

Moominsarehippos · 05/06/2013 23:17

That's definately a comeback that I would have come up with...two days after!

I'm sure she was having a crappy day, but that's no excuse for being awful to a mice young man being polite!

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 05/06/2013 23:20

I know she may have just been nasty person but really, not many people respond that unreasonably to a polite offer..it's probable that she was having a terribly bad day for whatever reason...the response she gave was an unbalanced one... so the sensible thing to do would have been to vacate the seat anyway and ignore her response.

Really. I don't think it was good at all.

auntmargaret · 05/06/2013 23:20

But Neo, she was nasty to him when he was doing something nice. "There is never a good reason to be nasty to someone"? Right back at you. Now tell her.

Boosterseat · 05/06/2013 23:21

Good for him.

Fuck off [agressive] no need for that.

Uncalled for.

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 05/06/2013 23:22

Margaret yes..she was awful....but that's no reason to be awful back. Her response was unbalanced...SO awful that it would be reasonable..even sensible to assume that she had some bad news, was mentally ill or similar.

treaclesoda · 05/06/2013 23:22

I've had many many many bad days in my life, terrible days. So has nearly everyone else I know. I've also struggled with mental illness. I have never ever told someone to fuck off when they have done something nice for me.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 05/06/2013 23:22

Right. So every time anyone has a bad day they can go round growling at other people to 'Fuck right off' can they? Just so I'm sure before I start as I feel quite sure tomorrow is going to be hugely shit and I want to start practicing.
