According to my Mum NOBODY in their right mind would allow their child to wear THIS

I would. I like it and I know DD would! I asked my Mum to make it and she actually laughed out loud! Shock

She said "Who on earth would let their child walk about in THAT!?"

Well actually me! I would! I know it's a bit "dressing up box" but why can't a 5 year old have some fun with her wardrobe? Mum takes ages to knit things as she puts them down a lot....so it would be done for Autumn I expect. She has point blank refused....I told her I'd have to ask MIL then as MIL would knit me a wedding dress if I asked her to though she's not as good as Mum...she will do it whatever she thinks of it.

Anyway...Mum trusts you lot...if I tell her you all say it's ok, then she might do it. Grin So...be honest...DD would like it and she can skip to the shops/park in it with jeans and boots on.

Yes? Or no?

I am so going to make this for my niecelings, though my dd aged 10 would probably love it too.

comelywenchlywoo · 31/05/2013 08:10

I want one in a dusty blue for DS Blush

Nanny0gg · 31/05/2013 08:17

I agree with your mother...

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 31/05/2013 08:47

It's the boots and red cape and messy hair that make it seem so eccentric. Whether your DD would suit that colour I have no idea. And I have no idea what sort of area you live in.

But it looks fine.

LittleDirewolfBitJoffrey · 31/05/2013 09:18

I LOVE that! And nearly 4 year old DD would love it too!

Theas18 · 31/05/2013 10:10

It's lovely

Tinuviel · 31/05/2013 11:52

11 year old DD just said that she would wear it!

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 31/05/2013 12:01

Dd is 8 and would love it.

Tbh, so would the ds's!

CheesyPoofs · 31/05/2013 12:02

I like it. I suspect my 5 year old wouldn't be seen dead in it though.

VivaLeBeaver · 31/05/2013 12:03

If dd wasn't 12yo I'd put an order in!

angelsonhigh · 31/05/2013 12:05

I think your Mum doesn't like it because it's something they used to wear in the "olden days"

EugenesAxe · 31/05/2013 12:09

Oh no it's brilliant! She would look beautiful and girly. I'd much rather see a child wearing that than some hideous velour/chiffon princess tat outfit.

Nanny0gg · 01/06/2013 19:52

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie - we grannies have to stick together sometimes!

And angelsonhigh I wouldn't have been seen dead in it in the olden times either!!

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 01/06/2013 20:54

Nor would my Mum NannyOgg.... She was pleased another granny had been of the same mind as her!

shewhowines · 01/06/2013 21:02

I hate it.

I'm not a nanny either. Good for a dressing up box but not to be seen out in.

Sparklymommy · 01/06/2013 21:09

Its beautiful! My dd1 (who is now ten) had a red hooded poncho when she was 2. She wore it, a lot, until she was about 5. Now it has passed down to dd2 who is now 3 and loves it. It was a designer piece and cost quite a bit but was worth every penny. It keeps them warm, looks cute and washes exceptionally well.

WorkingtoohardMama · 01/06/2013 21:14

I love it!

I've sent the link to my mum and told her that dd needs nana to make it for her, and she's said that she will, I can't wait for her to make it, hope dd loves it as much as I do Smile

tallulah · 01/06/2013 21:17

My 6 yo would love that, and actually so would her 27 yo sister Grin. I wish I could knit. Mmmmmuuuuuummmmm!

DonDrapersAltrEgoBigglesDraper · 01/06/2013 21:21

marriedinwhiteagain · 01/06/2013 21:24

maras2 · 01/06/2013 21:25

If I start now,I'll probably have it ready for DGD at Christmas. It's lovely.

OctopusWrangler · 01/06/2013 21:26

My son would love this in somewhat more wizardy colours:o

TallGiraffe · 01/06/2013 21:28

DS has one Grin

It's massive on him (he's 8mo), but we used it to go over his christening gown. I do occasionally catch DH using it to pretend to be a ghost!

k2togm1 · 01/06/2013 21:35

I would love one for myself!!
