According to my Mum NOBODY in their right mind would allow their child to wear THIS

I would. I like it and I know DD would! I asked my Mum to make it and she actually laughed out loud! Shock

She said "Who on earth would let their child walk about in THAT!?"

Well actually me! I would! I know it's a bit "dressing up box" but why can't a 5 year old have some fun with her wardrobe? Mum takes ages to knit things as she puts them down a lot....so it would be done for Autumn I expect. She has point blank refused....I told her I'd have to ask MIL then as MIL would knit me a wedding dress if I asked her to though she's not as good as Mum...she will do it whatever she thinks of it.

Anyway...Mum trusts you lot...if I tell her you all say it's ok, then she might do it. Grin So...be honest...DD would like it and she can skip to the shops/park in it with jeans and boots on.

Yes? Or no?

Just googled etsy ... Swoon ...cape. Bunny Capelet

youarewinning · 29/05/2013 22:01

I LOVE it Grin

I it wrong I am thinking I'd quite like one in pink? (not the bunny version tho!)

pointythings · 29/05/2013 22:01

I love it, and my DDs would have loved it too at age 5. They love capes in general and in this cold weather wander around in hooded ponchos (in DD2's case looking like a mini Darth Vader because hers is black).

MiniTheMinx · 29/05/2013 22:01

'But, grandmother, what big eyes you have!' she said.

'All the better to see you with, my dear.'

'But, grandmother, what large hands you have!'

'All the better to knit wonderful red capes"
Dawndonna · 29/05/2013 22:02

One of my dds would have loved that!

MacaYoniAndCheese · 29/05/2013 22:02

I love etsy.

Curiositykilledthecrap · 29/05/2013 22:02

It is beautiful but my dd would make out she was superwoman and the illusion would be ruined.

GwenCooper81 · 29/05/2013 22:03

LOVE IT!. Projects like this make me wish for patience and knitting ability. -Would it be rude to demand my mum knits it for DD?-
I think it would look amazing in an emerald green, my 5 year old would adore this Smile

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 29/05/2013 22:03

I thought of sewing one...I am more than capable but it's not going to be as good is it? It needs to be WOOL! I am going to lay guilt trips on for this. Or learn to knit.

I think I will visit the local knitting shop tomorrow and ask them if they'd do it...the women in there knit all the examples...for the patterns they sell. I bet one of them would do it for a fortune small charge. Grin

tempted to post my first "am i being unreasonable" to ask if i am just to have a baby so i can get one for them too? Grin LOVE it. i have 3 full length capes and a shorted one, i love them, but that is fab for a little girl

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 29/05/2013 22:06

Cosmosim gah! That is SO cute! I could make similar for my friends newish baby! For't winter!

She might be of the same mind as my Mum and think it silly but I will make her put it on the baby anyway!

FrozenBrikSchittHaus · 29/05/2013 22:06

aw, I think it's gorgeous.

I'm now going to have to ask my mum to make me one too.

FannyFifer · 29/05/2013 22:07

I totally love it, i want one for DD.
I will pay if someone will knit me one, its the cutest thing. Grin

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 29/05/2013 22:07

Youmeatasix no you would NOT be unreasonable to attempt to conceive a girl for the purposes of dressing her in the cape. Not at all.

Love it!

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 29/05/2013 22:08

Fanny I am asking in my local haberdashery shop if they know of anyone who can do it for payment.

No dd's here, but love it! I want one!

Scruffey · 29/05/2013 22:12

I think it's awful and impractical. My 5yo dd would probably be very pleased with it however.

WafflyVersatile · 29/05/2013 22:12

I'm indifferent to it but I just had to say I like your style in working your mum by threatening to go to your MIL even though she isn't as good. Grin

cocolepew · 29/05/2013 22:13

Love it!

JoInScotland · 29/05/2013 22:15

My son would love that... but would prefer it in purple. Can we put in orders, after she finishes the one for your daughter?

JoInScotland · 29/05/2013 22:16

I made on out of fine red babywale corduroy for a friend's daughter when she was 4. Beautiful, and a real labour of love! The knitted version looks nice too.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/05/2013 22:19

It is great, and I want one too.

RenterNomad · 29/05/2013 22:19

YEAH! I actually have a sewing pattern for a cape. If it's going to be a cold summer...
