When asked in the future 'Where were you when you heard Margaret Thatcher had died' she will have to say 'defending Mumsnet on Radio 2 due to some furore regarding Amanda Holden and a year old thread'.

Sad

iPlayer is only available in the UK because it's us what pays for it through our licence fee. You would have people frothing at the mouth if non-licence fee payers in foreign climes were able to watch or listen to the BBC!

Well I just listened to it, and it goes like this:

Christina Odone: I haven't done my homework, or thought this through, but it's the media and I'll go on anything.

Justine Roberts: MumsNet, i.e. women, have opinions about many things. That is a normal thing.

Caller 1: MNers were amazing when I was hospitalised for MH issues.

Caller 2: They took the piss out of me when I posted a sleep-deprived terse 'Where do I get a GrowClock?'

I don't know how Justine remained so calm. I loved how she didn't talk over anyone, and remained politeness itself.

You forgot the caller that left after the Cherry Menlove thread Line, as everybody was so rude about her.
Though I think the caller may have been Cherry Menlove.

Oh fuck. I can't even get that right. Fancy blanking out Cherry Menlove and all matters relating to her from my entire consciousness. Is it a syndrome?

Don't we love Zoe Williams? You know, as a borg-MN consciousness thing.

everlong, it's clock for toddlers apparently that has dark blue night stars and yellow sunshine, as a polite way of indicating the concepts go to fucking sleep and you can wake up now.

The growcock is surely what Terry Wogan has, in that photo (beloved of MN)?

Bravo, Justine. You were clearly well prepared unlike C.D.

I think Justine came across 9/10 minimum. Odone, about 1/10.

Report
CuntiestMNer · 10/04/2013 19:27

Only 9?

Report
LineRunner · 10/04/2013 19:32

That's a minimum. I would give her a definite 10 for telling Odone to fuck off.

oh god I was totally exaggerating when I said 'loads of threads' slagging me off. You can count them on one hand. And they're not slagging me off, they're slagging off the content of an article which is a very different thing.
But anyway, still point stands that if you do anything even remotely public then avoid reading anything commenting about you/your work online, be it MN, the comments after articles on newspaper websites (oh my god, especially them) and Amazon reviews. And never answer back or criticise the critics. Never ends well (cf Alain de Botton or Grace Dent getting that bloke sacked for being rude about her on Twitter).

I have been thinking that the recent thread about Eddie Mair's interview with Sinaed O' connor was archetypal MN. Sinaed's unladylike anger appalled the OP
