In a white leather jumpsuit n'all. What with all me googling I had failed to notice that back garden is under 2 feet of sewerage slurry. Neighbour told DH he had been repeatedly knocking all afternoon to let me know - I did hear but was too busy to answer-what with me Tomworthy fridge make over and Youtubing. Had also left iron on since yesterday.

DH is on the phone to the council now - am a stalker of the most irresponsible kind.

coreny · 12/04/2013 00:37

I watched ROA tonight

The lighting was kind to Tom but his swagger is spot on.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 12/04/2013 01:13

I watched Mission Impossible IV, and War of the Worlds. Blush

EldritchCleavage · 12/04/2013 15:04

I made DH sit through ALL THREE Transformers films on the spurious basis that they were 'fun' when actually I only wanted to lust at Tyrese Gibson. And my God, those films are bad. And TG isn't really on screen enough to make it worth it. Fortunately, someone has put the whole of Annapolis on YouTube. Terrible film, but TG has never looked better, and models every one of the seemingly endless US Navy uniforms very fewtchingly.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 12/04/2013 17:29

Okay! We're off to dinner and then to see Oblivion!

freddiefrog · 12/04/2013 20:39

Have fun!

I mentioned to DH today I wanted to see it. His response was 'I thought you hated Tom Cruise'

Let me know whether it's worth confessing to DH that I've been turned

DS 17 and DH went to see Oblivion las night andvsaid it was brilliant.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 12/04/2013 23:33

Well, it's apply named.

I was bored silly.

Not enough codpiece by half.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 12/04/2013 23:33

Aptly.

coreny · 13/04/2013 00:44

staceeeeee

what is this oblivion?

KatyTheCleaningLady · 13/04/2013 09:20

It's his latest movie that just opened this week. It's really boring and he's basically pretty much wasted on it. How he could have read that script and not seen that it's just a rehash of about a dozen other films from WallE to The Matrix, I don't know. He does his usual fine job and looks nice in a couple of scenes with his shirt off, but the plot is just shit.

It's slow, hard to follow, and pretends to be profound. It's very visually stunning with lots of beautiful shots (not only the ones with TC in them) but there's nothing to it.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 13/04/2013 09:28

He's been in a string of losers in which he's clearly the best thing about the movie, but can't save the movie just on the power of his performance.

I don't know why Knight and Day was slated so badly, as I thought he was charming and funny in it.

With Jack Reacher, I think the audiences who would be interested in watching a tough guy kick ass are all Lee Child readers and they could not get past the fact that Tom Cruise is NOT a 6'5" 18 stone blond with pectoral muscles that can stop bullets. I mean, the reaction to the casting was very poor and I don't think people were willing to give it a chance. However, once you get past the fact that Tom Cruise is too short, it's actually very good. He's quite good and the plot is good.

NotTreadingGrapes · 13/04/2013 09:31

I wouldn't want an 18 stone blonde on top of me.

In my dreams Tom Cruise reaches down and kisses the top of my head anyway.

Obviously he must be swinging from the light fittings at the time but hey, that's no bad thing.

I am looking for holy effing communion dresses that will not make dd look like a bride of Christ and this thread is going to keep me sane I feel.

(though I do feel a bit squalid saying holy communion on the same thread as the snake belt thingy)

KatyTheCleaningLady · 13/04/2013 09:46

Oh, Tom Cruise and Catholicism go together just fine. He's married loads of Catholics.

NotTreadingGrapes · 13/04/2013 09:54

(am outsider, me, though I like a good mass Grin) (which is as well seeing as it's always me who has to go with dd as dp, hardened papist that he is, always seems to be inexplicably busy on Sunday)

Gah, she's just told me she fancies the bride of Christ look.
KatyTheCleaningLady · 13/04/2013 11:03

So, I was talking to my husband last night about this thread and how a bunch of us have suddenly, against our wills, become Tom Cruise fanciers.

For me, back when he was doing Top Gun, I really didn't get it. I just thought he wasn't really that handsome. More importantly, I was not into clean cut alpha males. It seemed like all his movies were about some cocky young jock with a skill and he had to out bro a bunch more other cocky young guys to be the very best Top Cocktail-Pouring Race Car Driver, and get the girl.

I rolled my eyes.

And dated guys with long hair and tattoos. Wink

Somehow, he's aged past all that - and aged very well - and has caught my attention.

But when he did long hair and tattoos (which frightened and repulsed me at first), and did it with such conviction, I was totally won over. He really nailed that role. A lot of actors would have giggled and gurned through the role of Jaxx, but he did it with something more like sincerity, and was very convincing as a ludicrous Rock God figure. Ridiculous, but still hot.

So, yeah. I hope he continues to do some of these odd surprising roles. But he still needs to take his shirt off frequently.

EldritchCleavage · 13/04/2013 20:51

Heh heh, I perved all over Tyrese Gibson last night in Death Race while DH slept. Blimey, the shite I watch just to get some eye candy.

TC needs more evil guy roles, and in better films than he's chosen of late.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 15/04/2013 08:02

I had to resurrect this thread because I just found a scene that was cut from the movie/only available on the Blue Ray edition.

Ladies, I give you....

Tom Cruise pole dancing:

NotTreadingGrapes · 15/04/2013 09:07

Shock

That look on his face right at the beginning was creeeeeepy.

But yes. I still would. Even dangling from a pole.

There is a dad at dd's school who does a gymnastic form of pole dancing (it's called flag man here) and he's a teeny as well.

freddiefrog · 15/04/2013 09:48

I still would Blush

Cocktail was on last night, I've recorded it for covert viewing next time DH is out, I need to know if I've been completely turned Grin

OP posts:
KatyTheCleaningLady · 15/04/2013 09:57

I think Cocktail was the reason I couldn't stand him for years. I was mostly bemused on the Risky Business and Top Gun mania, but Cocktail was when I decided he was a ridiculous twit.

And I stayed in that camp for a long, long time.

freddiefrog · 15/04/2013 10:16

I can't really remember it, not seen it for years

He didn't do anything for me way back when so hopefully normal non-fancying service will resume

OP posts:
NotTreadingGrapes · 15/04/2013 12:04

Top Gun theme/Harold Faltermeyer just shuffled itself on my ipod.

T'is a Tomspiracy clearly.

Am now replaying in head Val Kilmer saying he wants Tom as his wingman. Don't we all Val, don't we all. Grin

EldritchCleavage · 17/04/2013 14:23

Ha ha ha!
That's more Polish plumber than handsome Marine commando, though, NTG!

This is more like it. Bonny lad. Hope his folks are proud of him.
