I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

One of the threads on Mumsnet that has changed me the most is a bra thread on S&B.

I am fat and had been wearing a 46E. I have no idea where or how I decided that was my size.

Now wearing a 42DD, perkiest boobs I ever had and the biggest plus is that I can now buy bras in normal shops, not just plus size shops.

And nork holders are all 36D, not surprisingly a M&S fitting. My look of choice is a free hanging one as soon as I'm through the front door. This ought to change I feel.

Was wearing 32C, fitted by M&S. Now wearing 28E!

FrankWippery...I am going to take a rough guess (based on how wonky M&S are known to be) that you probably measure somewhere between around 31/32 underneath, and around 40 over. It may be a bit off cos they sometimes measure over clothes!

Yes. I had bras ranging from 40F to 36DD I'm actually a 36FF. Yes they're harder to come by but feels great. Thanks bra geniuses

Thank you all. This thread has come at a good time for me. I resolved this morning when I caught sight of myself in the mirror that I was going to invest in some new underwear.

Can anyone recommend good websites to buy bras from? Our High Street only has a Next and an M&Co, not exactly loads of choice there. Can I order from anywhere online that is easy and not expensive to return to if necessary?

I was allegedly a 36DD/38D -am actually a 34F, confirmed by Bravissimo. It's amazing, as soon as I put the right bra on it looked like I'd lost a stone! Scooping was the best suggestion I've ever seen.

Plus read recommendations for Brastop, best online bra seller ever. Now have a nice full underwear drawer!

Can someone help me? I measured underneath my bust as 34". Went in to a shop and tried on the size as advised by you guys and I could just about get 2 fingers under the band but it was pretty hard to breathe and frankly made the rest of my fat skin bulge in a very in attractive manner even with my clothes over the top.

But a 36" is too big.

Have I missed something? Or is this just something I have to put up with for being a lardy-bum?

Heffa, measure around the widest part of your breast. Best way is to lean forward so your breasts hang down (at about 90 degrees from your body) and then measure around that way. If your bra is good you can measure with your bra on. But if you are on this thread, it probably isn't ;)

Trazzletoes, did you scoop? vigorously?

Trazzletoes · 27/02/2013 15:53

I thought I had - perhaps I wasn't vigorous enough Sad but it was also digging in at the sides where I definitely don't have boob (am not massively well endowed).

was wearing 36d, am now wearing 32g, or 34f (generally the latter fits better), thanks to the lovely ladies on here with the knowledge! Got fitted by mothercare but that was ages ago while I was pregnant so they might not be entirely to blame.
If anyones interested, I bought a bra from the internet without realising it was padded, tried it on and suddenly realised why padding is suitable for large breasts, it's sooo comfy and makes my breasts look nice without making them look big.

Was - a 32AA as measured by M&S Hmm

After looking here and posting on the "small boobs" thread (in S&B possibly??) and getting great advice there I'm now a 28C or D depending on style/make. There was also great advice there about trying different cup styles, plunge does nothing for me, balcony/balconette are brilliant (I have wider ribs than boobs, so not much to push in at the sides)

It's so hard to find smaller back that aren't teen/unpadded BUT M&S limited collection do some really lovely ones in small back sizes, found lots of new ones on ebay for less than £10. Well worth a look!

I need serious help. I have no idea what size I am any more. I am currently wearing a 42FF but it's not a great fit. I'm going back to work soon after maternity leave and I'm about to buy some new work clothes...strartin with some correctly fitting bras, hopefully.

I've just measured myself as 43.5" x 52.5". what does that translate to in bra sizes, please?
