I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

Thanks SC! x-post but defo going to measure later :)

cryhavoc · 27/02/2013 16:32

I'd love some help, please. I lost weight last year and have no idea what size I should be wearing.
Back is 35, lowest point of boobs when bending over is 40.

I'm wearing a 38C which I know isn't right.

Do me! Do me!

I'm currently 34B, measured by independent bra shop lady.

30 and 37.

Thanking you in advance!

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 16:35

cryhavoc, start with a 34E and follow the notes above

cryhavoc · 27/02/2013 16:38

Thank you, I'm leaving the countryside and heading for the bright lights of Norwich on the weekend. Will report back then.

speedyboots · 27/02/2013 16:39

Thank you! Will make a trip to the shops at the weekend for some experimenting.

Lueji · 27/02/2013 16:42

Now, a question.
I am a size 8.
I am wearing a 32 that actually feels tight, although I do have some 30s, and they feel tight too.

How can anyone be a bigger size than me (say 14) and wear the same bra size, or less?
Unless your bra is positioned quite low.
And even realising that part of that size 14 or over is due to bigger boobs.
Because I have virtually no body fat, apart from boobs and bottom.
Maybe I have a huge chest cavity?
Confused
Genuine puzzlement.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 16:45

Lueji I think it depends - if you have bigger breasts then yes, the bra probably sits further towards the waist. It also depends on body shape - I am very hourglass so although I'm a 14, I have a small waist and a narrow ribcage (and shoulders) but big hips and boobs. When I am slimmer I go down to a 28. I think that's more down to the natural variation in body shapes.

KitCat26 · 27/02/2013 16:45

Me too.

Wearing 34B.
M&S
Statistically helped me out with my vitals 30DD

mollymole · 27/02/2013 16:46

was 36C
M& S measurement
now 34D/E - depending on style
so pleased and now so much more comfortable in my clothing - and they are
pointing in the right direction !!

AgathaF · 27/02/2013 16:47

LittleEdie - try a 30F and maybe 28FF or G.

cardamomginger · 27/02/2013 16:48

M&S always said I was a 34b and that was what I always bought, and what I was always uncomfortable in. But that was what the tape measure said, and the tape measure must be right, madam!
I am actually a 30d, and much the happier for it.

HazleNutt · 27/02/2013 16:49

Lueji, when I was wearing 36, it felt tight enough, I didn't think I should go down a back size. I'm actually a 32 (when not pregnant). The cup was simply too small.

TheDoctrineOfSciAndNatureClub · 27/02/2013 16:50

Lueji, if your cup size is wrong, your bra will feel tight even if the back size is right.

Also, my under boob is one of my narrower parts - wear a 14, could prob wear a 12 top if I was a smaller cup size.

LittleEdie · 27/02/2013 16:50

Nooooooooooooooo! 30F?

Rushing into town right now to try one on.

Lueji · 27/02/2013 16:52

I sort of understand what you are saying, Statistically, but I am still puzzled by how an adult woman can be 28.
I think I'd need to compare side by side. :)

I might start asking women I know about their bra size.

And throw around a few tips about fitting too. Wink

Geeklover · 27/02/2013 16:52

Thanks to advice on here I've gone from a 38b to a 36e Shock
I always wore padded bras before but in the right size I don't need to my boobs have never looked so good.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 27/02/2013 16:55

Leuji - I'm an 8 and used to wear a 32 and it felt fine (at the time!). But to make the 32 'fit' I had to have a very small cup size (an a or b) which would mean there is only 1"-2" difference between the size of my chest under bust and at the larger part. Which is not true at all. When I went down to a 28 back, I was then an E cup. And it feels much better, and my boobs look amazing.

Lueji · 27/02/2013 16:55

I meant that the lower part feels tight. Not too much. I mean that I couldn't possibly go down a size.
The bra itself is fine. The boobs are quite comfortable and fitting well.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 27/02/2013 16:57

Think of it as a 28E and a 32B(or whatever) being roughly the same size - the cups look roughly similar, the length around your underbust is about the same, but the arrangement is completely different.

Lueji · 27/02/2013 16:57

Although, for the sake of testing your theory, I might go shopping this weekend for a 28E or F. :)

If I can find one.

Lueji · 27/02/2013 17:00

I realise that, TeWi.
I am already wearing a C cup on this one.
Although I have another one, a strapless bra that fits nicely, in a 32D.
The 30D I have, is a bit too narrow on the cups.

Iammyhair · 27/02/2013 17:00

I have never ever found a bra that's well fitting and comfortable! Every shop tells me a different size, from 34B to 32D. Please help me!

Back is 30.5 and lowest part of boobs is 34

Thank you!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 27/02/2013 17:01

Lately the only bras I've been able to find in mainstream shops that are the right size are really padded - I always want to write "LOL" and this face :| on the label. I mean, who constructs a bra "up to F cup" or whatever and then thinks OOH BETTER PAD IT OUT. I would feel like an utter prat in a padded bra.
