I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

What would you suggest for me? I'm 42 back and 51 bust (big boobies!).

I currently wear a 44D or 42DD. I find that the cup fits fine but the back is forever riding up and cuts into me (feels too tight).

codswallopandchips · 27/02/2013 21:52

Thanks sorrel Thanks will read more upthread and then hit the shops!

Also, thanks for the kind phrase 'squishy of build' - that I most definitely am Wink

RubberBullets · 27/02/2013 21:52

I'm a Guider that does the 14+ age group. Do you think I could run a bra fitting evening? Talking about, not actually measuring for obvious reasons.

SorrelForbes · 27/02/2013 21:53

codswallopandchips Hey, I'm am squishy everywhere Grin

AnyFucker · 27/02/2013 21:53

mumzy....start with a 30E

you will see a massive difference

will feel tight at first...but persevere

SorrelForbes · 27/02/2013 21:54

RubberBullets I think that's a fabulous idea. You could do two, one for mums and one for daughters or maybe a joint one?

openerofjars · 27/02/2013 21:54

Okay, I am still bfing dd, so am reluctant to go and buy new bras (although my nursing bras are now horrible, grey ancient and saggy) but the one I just took off is a 38C. I can actually tie the back together rather than do the hooks up. It looks awful. I look bad.

I measured tonight after finding this thread and I am 31 round the chest and 37 round the boobs (after feeding).

What actual size am I now?

AnyFucker · 27/02/2013 21:54

RB...I would do a joint one

SorrelForbes · 27/02/2013 21:56

MrsBeep Try a 42G, 40GG and maybe a 40GG, 40H (again, read upthread about why it sometimes works to size down in the back even more than your measurement would suggest). If your 42 is riding up then you definitely should try a 40 and maybe even a 38. Remember to go up in the cup though.

AnyFucker · 27/02/2013 21:56

OOJ... try a 30F or a 32DD

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:57

mumzy 30E
MrsBeep42G but read the bloglink a few posts up about squishy torsos!
openerofjars start with trying a 30F

SorrelForbes · 27/02/2013 21:57

openerofjars Try a 30F, 30E, 32 DD and a 32E. I would expect the 30 to fit better in most brands but some (e.g. Debenhams Gorgeous range) do come up very tight.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 27/02/2013 21:57

Me!
I was still am, but less often - not buying new nursing bras! wearing tatty old 38dd nursing bras

Statistically did me, and I am now a 32G. Although the bras I bought are a 34f (different bras, a 32g does fit, but not in this make of bra Hmm )

openerofjars · 27/02/2013 21:57

Holy shit, I'll have someone's eye out! Shock

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:58

haha, triple cross posting!

AnyFucker · 27/02/2013 21:58

OOJ, no you won't, I promise

you will look great, and your boobs will be in proportion

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:59

Beyond, if only we could get companies to make them consistently huh!

openerofjars · 27/02/2013 21:59

Is there any actual point in wearing the bras I have now? I mean, you could probably fit the DC in there with me...

openerofjars · 27/02/2013 22:00

Thank you all. I am going bra shopping on Saturday now. Goddamit.

SorrelForbes · 27/02/2013 22:00

openerofjars It's not that big, honest Grin. These days I consider 'busty' to be anyone over a HH (eh, *SC?!)

bedlegs · 27/02/2013 22:01

Hi do me please, i was measured at a small local shop today who said i was a 32D, didn't really feel comfortable in bra suggested. Have measured myself at 32" and 39", what should i try?

WheelieBinRebel · 27/02/2013 22:01

Ok so I have never been able to get any bra to be comfortable and fit properly, the straps are my bugbear. No matter how tight/loose/in-between I have them, they always slip off my shoulders. Also my boobs are quite wide-set am I best with a balcony style bra?

Still in shock at being re-assessed at a 34E, I really don't think I'll fill it tbh but I shall go and try.

AnyFucker · 27/02/2013 22:01

OOJ once you have seen the light, you will never go back

I used to have a drawer full of about 15-20 bras (all making me look like shit)

I now have only two...but that is because I am still experimenting in getting the right brand. The two I have fit me perfectly and I will accept nothing less

DH can't believe it (more sock space for him) !

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 22:03

bedlegs that sounds much too small in the cup. Try a 32F, and scoop like a mutha!
wheelibinrebel straps falling down is a PRIME sign of the back being wrong. When the back is too big, the straps are too far out and just fall down. I have narrow, slopey shoulders and used to be plagued with this issue. Doesn't happen since I sussed my size.

AnyFucker · 27/02/2013 22:03

bedlegs, I would go one cup size bigger at 32E

did you pull the band measurement tight enough, btw

might be worth trying a 30FF too Smile
