To ask how many of you have had a bra intervention by Sorrel, Statistically and others?

I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

OP posts:
RubberBullets · 27/02/2013 20:27

M&S, Trevails and the independent one all came up with 40E so it can't have been that random Confused

I've never worn wired bras as I found them uncomfortable thanks to M&S being the only place to get measured round here for many years. I've always thought that they measured me incorrectly and therefore decided myself what I was but as they suggested bra sizes that dug in, I went up in the band until I got something that didn't. My 42D bras have been comfortable as they are loose enough not to be able to dig in anywhere. It's taking some getting used to having tight bras. I'm going to Manchester in May so will hopefully be able to try some nursing bras that fit properly. Any suggestions for decent places to go?

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 20:28

SnoTMeReally, based on measurements alone I would say a 40H, BUT, given what you say about the 40 I would suggest you go down a back size and try a 38 (start by trying a HH and work from there) - quite often slightly larger ladies need to go for a smaller back size than their measurement suggests to get adequate support.

PointeShoes, start with a 28FF, 28F and also try a 30F and 30E.

Benby - start with a 36back but you need a lot more cup space. Start by trying a 36KK and work from there following the "how to recognize a good bra" guidance

SheSparkles - based on your measurements a 42H as a starting point, but you may also need to go down further in the back. There is a good blog post here which explains why you may need a smaller back size than you measure. But, if you go down in the back, remember to go up in the cup to compensate

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 20:29

Foosyerdoos, start with a 34H

HazleNutt · 27/02/2013 20:29

Foosy that would make you about 34GG or H
Shesparkles, 42 sounds right, but don't your bras give you 4-boob effect? I'd go up several cup sizes, around 42GG should be better.

Shesparkles · 27/02/2013 20:29

That's brilliant, thanks so much. I'm desperately needing bras anyway, so it'd be lovely to have some that actually fit!

Shesparkles · 27/02/2013 20:30

I have a couple of bras that are comfy and I don't think I have the 4 boobs, but I have a couple that are absolutely horrendous! I try not to wear them though Grin

HerecometheBelgians · 27/02/2013 20:31

Oooh, so need intervention. Had a revelation when shopping for wedding underwear at Rigby & Peller. Walked in a 38c (thanks for nothing, M&S) and walked out a 34E. H was delighted, as was I!

But... that was 11 years, two children and a bit of weight loss since.

I am now 32 under the bust (34 if I breathe in deeply) and 39 measuring loosely round dangling norks.

What's my new size please, oh magic and amazing ladies of bra-whizzery??

PDog · 27/02/2013 20:32

Thank you Thanks Grin

SnotMeReally · 27/02/2013 20:34

wow - so 38HH/40H instead of 40DD - will go shopping and report back

Thank you so much!!!!

You are spending lots of time on all of us, thats' so kind! Thanks

three cheers for statistically!

Benby · 27/02/2013 20:35

Thanks a mill for that not sure where I'll get 36kk bras though I'm in Ireland and we have very few specialist shops but will search high and low cause really not comfortable as is
Thanks again

ClarissaOakes · 27/02/2013 20:35

32
37.5

How are you working out coup size?

Thanks!

HazleNutt · 27/02/2013 20:39

broadly, one inch per cup size. They don't follow a logical order though but have some random double letters. A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G and so on.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 27/02/2013 20:39

StatisticallyChallenged is getting lots of flowers, so I'll get her some Wine instead. Thanks!

CelticPromise · 27/02/2013 20:40

Belgians 32F for starters.

itsblackoveryonderhill · 27/02/2013 20:40

I've not read all the thread, but I really do go Hmm when people say they've been measured at M&S and their ilk. For years I've been to bravissimo and they fitted me lovely.

When M&S last measured me they did me as a 42D, when infact I'm either a 34E or a 32F dependent on style according to bravissimo (although to be certain I've just done the tape thing and I measured 32 band and 41 hanging boobs - I don't know what size that equates to).

I remember the M&S woman asked me (before I had DD) if I'd been pregnant because I had rather sagging boobs. Oh she did blush when I told her that no, I'd lost 4stone in weight the cheeky bitch! She did go on to measure me at 42D even though I wore a size 12 top which doesn't make sense at all.

itsblackoveryonderhill · 27/02/2013 20:44

Oh, but what I haven't added to my previous post is that my boobs are indeed now rather saggy. They are a typical satsumas in socks shape. If I lift my boobs up vertically I get a crinkled shelf from the empty skin, so my bras have to kind of lift and push back as well if that makes sense.

It's never confused a bravissimo lady, but I'm sure it would blow a M&S ladies head.

Foosyerdoos · 27/02/2013 20:45

Thank you very much, will start looking online.

cheesebaby · 27/02/2013 20:46

Was 36C (M&S)

Lurked on one of the bra threads here ...

Now a lovely 32E -transformational!

Thanks ladies GrinThanks

HerecometheBelgians · 27/02/2013 20:46

Thanks Thanks Thanks

You are doing an utterly fantastic job. I've been preaching the 'go to Rigby & Peller/John Lewis/Bravissimo/basically anywhere where they LOOK at you rather than referring to a chart' for years but not been taking my own advice!

Very excited about throwing out aged and ill-fitting bras and getting some that do fit. Would explain why my fabulous (and blimin' expensive) Shock Absorber Run bra hasn't been absorbing the shock so well recently - it's a 34D...

SamraLee · 27/02/2013 20:50

I was measured in Victoria Secret at a 38C, I am breastfeeding now and have lost weight since then, but wear the same bra. I am 36 under my bust and 42 around my boobs, what size is that suppose to be?

stretch · 27/02/2013 20:50

Wow, have just made it through that mammoth thread!

I never realised how many of us are/were wearing the wrong size, and I don't mean an inch here or there; COMPLETELY wrong sizes! I kind of understand now, take away the adding 4/5 inches and you are pretty much on your way to getting a decent fit! So why have we all been adding? Hmm We need to be teaching this in schools.

I have always thought I had A/AA cups, so now to be told they are potentially DD/E, it's a bit of a shock and actually a bit of an ego boost. Of course, they still look the same Wink but hey, details...Grin

Thank you statistically and others, I will go and try a few on at the weekend and report back. Can't wait Grin

RubberBullets · 27/02/2013 20:54

In a properly fitting bra they will look much better too stretch :)

hippoCritt · 27/02/2013 20:56

Sorrel saved me too! Still come to terms with my size but my back fat has gone by having a smaller band bigger cup, I had put off buying bras for the fear of what size I'd be, imagining I'd have to go up in numbers. Awaiting a new order from figleaves, their exchanges seem to take a long time.

I second the nomination for OBdoubleE maybe a name change!

Ilovemyteddy · 27/02/2013 20:56

Was wearing a 42c and, having lost a load of weight and seen the bra threads on here I went to Rigby snd Peller and am now wearing a very comfy 34e. My norks are now where they should be Grin

lindznog · 27/02/2013 20:57

Hi, I usually lurk but can't resist finding out my proper size!!!!

I was last measure at La senza at 38E, but am now wearing a 36 DD as I have lost weight recently.

It still doesn't fit right though so would love to have a better idea of what to buy.

I measure 33" round the band and 43" around bust

Thank you!
