I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

Samra try a 36E.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:01

Iitsblackoveryonderhill those measurements would put you a 32g roughly BUT the cup is by far the harder bit to get by measuring, it can be a size or two out especially on bigger boobs, so it sounds like you are probably fine although I would veer towards the 32s. Espcially if you are slightly empty the F instead of G is fine :)

Samralee try a 36E to start
clarissa 32DD/E

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:02

lindznog start by trying a 32H :) most people who are between back sizes get on better with the lower one, but you could also try a 32GG, 34G and 34GG. Make sure you read the "how to recognize a good bra" post too

CelticPromise · 27/02/2013 21:03

lindznog I'd start with a 32GG. Maybe 34G in some brands but usually smaller will be more supportive if you are between sizes.

You're like me, I went into Rigby & Peller one day a 36DD and came out a 32G. Smile

Champagnecharleyismyname · 27/02/2013 21:05

Gosh haven't read all the thread but just measured and I am 32.5 back and 37.5 over so what would that make me. I've always worn a 34B.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:05

champagne start with a 32DD/32E

CelticPromise · 27/02/2013 21:06

SC is right, 32H.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:07

Evening celtic, welcome to the crazy bra day!

Abcynthia · 27/02/2013 21:09

I am so happy to have found this thread.

I spent my life thinking I was a 36/38B...then I got pregnant with my second child and said I must go and get measured. However after crap advice in an M&S store about how I should just pick my normal size for a nursing bra ,during my first pregnancy,I decided to go to a small independent bra store. It came out that I am actually a 36FF (she said I measured 35 on the back if I remember rightly).

My nursing bras fit great, but I've bought some normal ones and I find the wire digs in at my sides a little bit. I've not got a tape measure to hand, but does this mean I should try a cup size up? I really hate wearing uncomfy bras and I feel like I spend so much time doing it. I can't wear my nursing bras with low cut tops :(

goonyagoodthing · 27/02/2013 21:10

After reading through the whole thread, can't believe how wrong we are getting it. I spend my days adjusting and pulling at my bra and straightening it up and just basically being uncomfortable. I am measuring 35" around my body, but I am not sure how to measure my boobs? (Yes theres always one, and thats me). If I lean forward they are about 25 inches. Should I measure around body and breast together?

I am currently in anything between 36FF - 38F. What am I doing wrong?

lindznog · 27/02/2013 21:11

Thank you so much, sounds a slightly shocking size but def willing to give it a go!!

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:11

It is normally a sign of needing a bigger cup, yes

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:13

goonyagoodthing
measure around the widest part of your breast. Best way is to lean forward so your breasts hang down (at about 90 degrees from your body) and then measure around that way. If your bra is good you can measure with your bra on. But if you are on this thread, it probably isn't ;)

CelticPromise · 27/02/2013 21:14

Evening! Bonkers isn't it? Do think there will be a massive downturn in the sales of 36Bs this week?

You've been doing sterling work today!

RubberBullets · 27/02/2013 21:14

Yes, body and boobs together goony. Lean forward with no bra on and let them dangle. Measure around your back and the part of your boob that is the closest to the floor. It should be bigger than 35", it can't be less or you would have boobs that go in rather than out

Abcynthia · 27/02/2013 21:15

Thank you SC. I have just tried measuring myself with a DIY tape measure :S and my cup size came out at 42 with a 35 back size. So that means I should really be a G? (sorry complete novice) Tallies up with what you just said :)

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:18

abcynthia, on measurements that would be a 34ff ish but the cup is the harder bit to measure (espec with diy measures :) been there done that

it is bonkers celtic, we made discussionsoftheday lol

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 27/02/2013 21:20

Does anyone know where you can get those little holder-togetherers, for want of a better word, which prevent shoulder strap slippage? I have uneven shoulders and am always losing my right strap!

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 21:21

I think you mean these?

MurderOfGoths · 27/02/2013 21:22

I've been struggling with bras since I put on weight, so it's underbust and round boobs (while leaning over) right?

That gives me 35 and 45. I was measured about a year ago and told I was 36D. But I'm finding the underwiring is really digging in under my arms :(

MERLYPUSS · 27/02/2013 21:23

36a m&s
32d

goonyagoodthing · 27/02/2013 21:23

Thanks SC and Rubberbullets.

OK have just done it again (red faced and panting from all the stripping off / putting on). I am 36 under my boobs and 46 around. But the 36s I wear seem to be too loose on me. Any idea what I should be going for.

ooer · 27/02/2013 21:23

Changed a while ago - 36D to 30H - never looked back!

SamraLee · 27/02/2013 21:24

Ordered a 36E to try, I hope it all goes well I'm so excited! :D

RubberBullets · 27/02/2013 21:25

Goony if you do a 36 up with the clasp at the front, how far away from your body can you pull it?
