I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

Another here needing help - have been putting up with badly fitting bras far too long!

Only last weekend I had to cut the sides to pull out the plastic vertical reinforing thingy as it was bending like an arch and sticking into me

I measure 40 under and 51 when all dangling loose when bent over

What the heck size is that please (cos 40DD aint doing it).
Wires lay snuggly against me in the cleavage area, but underwires not cupping all tissue and not sitting snug under my boobs

SecondHandNews · 27/02/2013 19:33

Plunge Bra SecondHandNews can wear This is the type of bra I can wear - the boning doesn't come up the chestbone at all.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:34

SecondHandNews, most people who are between sizes get on best with the smaller back - which would indeed make you a 28F/FF. I wonder if you are a little too big in the cup for the 30DD.

Where does the boning dig in? Is it to your actual breast tissue (i.e. are your breasts very close together in the centre?) - if so I can probably make a few suggestions

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 27/02/2013 19:36

I'm the same. Very bony between boobs. No hope of a cleavage.

I think when I'm next in Cardiff, I'm going to go and look in some proper shops.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:38

Ooh, Ariel if you go to Cardiff I think they have Bravissimo and Leia who should have a very good range between them.

SecondHandNews · 27/02/2013 19:40

Ah thank you very much Statistically ! Not sure re cups on 30DD - haven't tried them on for a while due to pregnancy etc. Might go up now and have a look! No not into breast tissue - into the chestbone. It's hellishly sore after a day and I get red marks and sometimes bruising. Sounds like Ariel has the same.I have actually been asked if i have had a boob job before as they look a little "stuck on" due to the slight gap between them which is bony. It's actually really annoying as it basically rules out a lot of really pretty bras as the boning just hurts. And sometimes I have bought a bra which I think will be okay and is for a few hours but then really starts to hurt. Confused

SecondHandNews · 27/02/2013 19:42

Ps. I am in London so a whole wealth of underwear shops I can't bloody shop in!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 27/02/2013 19:42

Do they do miniscule bras? I have been mulling this over. I have quite a prominent sternum and the wires often dig in.

SecondHand there are two of us! Hurray!

RubberBullets · 27/02/2013 19:45

Whatever size you hear that Jordan is, it will be wrong :)

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:45

In that case SecondHandNews, I suspect you either needs bras like the one you linked to, or ones which are the exact opposite ie are very tall in the middle. If they are very tall the pressure will be more spread out so won't hurt as much, but ones in between will just poke in and hurt.

What about gossard superboost in the 30
panache tango
freya
a tall one
another gossard

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:48

Oh, also try the Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless - it doesn't have wires at all.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:50

Ariel, what about this?

OhThisIsJustGrape · 27/02/2013 19:50

30 under, 33 over. I make that a 30C right? That can't be right though, I do get what you're all saying but I seriously have no boobs. In fact, only by bending over can I make the over measurement 33. It's more like 31 when I'm upright.

Currently wearing a 32AA and it seems to fit Confused

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 27/02/2013 19:51

30 under and 35 loose. Currently using a 34b from m&s found after a TWO HOUR search and try on session. Quite comfy and sits against breast bone but not convinced boobs are filling it. My investigation seemed to find that balconette bras fitted best.
Any opinion?

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:52

That's correct ohthis. How is the back on the 32? Can you pull it away from you at the front?

Iam, 30DD to start with :)

RubberBullets · 27/02/2013 19:53

Ariel if you find a good bra shop down here then let me know. I went to the independent one in Truro next to the Aga shop and they did it wrong, so did Trevails

OhThisIsJustGrape · 27/02/2013 19:55

Well, when I say it fits... Actually looking at it, it gapes at the front and I don't even fill the cups on it so how on earth would I fill a C cup?

My boobs are empty from breast feeding 4dcs, there is nothing left at the top of them Sad

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 27/02/2013 19:56

I've heard good stuff about Travails. Is that not true? Better for larger bosoms though apparently. There's Simpson's in Penzance, but it doesn't look inviting...

RubberBullets · 27/02/2013 19:57

OhThis, an AA cup means that you have no boobs at all as the overboob measurement is the same as the underboob. You may have small boobs but they are there, honest! Step away from the AA.

SecondHandNews · 27/02/2013 19:57

Thank you very much for taking the time to look those up! I think the gossard one still comes up too high - I am pretty sure they would dig in. It's so frustrating. My computer is being unreasonably slow so I am trying in vain to look at the other ones.

Ariel - yipee! Or not so much perhaps Hmm

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 27/02/2013 19:58

help... 39" under and 49" at the lowest bit Blush

RubberBullets · 27/02/2013 19:59

My measurements are 37 and 49, Trevails interpreted this as 40E but thanks to MN I'm wearing 36HH. I can fit my fist inside a 40 back

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 20:00

Ohthis, if it's too big at the back it will gape because it just won't give you any support.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere..try a 38H, 38GG as a start point

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 20:01

RubberBullets I would dearly love to know how they got a 40E, that's quite impressive! Even if they worked from 40, you would still have needed 9 cup sizes which is a G! You poor thing, you must have been in pain!

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 27/02/2013 20:03

Thanks, Stats. I am currently and extremely uncomfortably wearing a fucking 40D. My tits are EVERYWHERE except in my goddam bra.
