I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

I have been wearing a 'tight' fit bra for many years as I know a really good NCT bra fitter...

First time she fitted me it was because I had been to M&S and was told I was a 38B

I was actually a 32F (breast feeding at the time)

Now (not feeding) I am 32/34 E/F - the fluctuation is really down to companies and styles of bra.

I have been back to M&S and on one occasion, when I needed a strapless bra I had a fitter openly challenge the size I was demand that I was fitted 'as a matter of urgency'... she put me at a 36/38DD - I didn't fit into any of them but I did fit in the 32E i found on the rail

I did a little bit of education then and told her she was probably wearing the wrong size herself Grin

My biggest issue is finding 32 / 34 E/F that fit nicely.

Bloody baby! Thank you Celtic!

ScarletLady02 · 27/02/2013 18:50

I wasn't helped by someone on here as I was properly fitted about a week before I found the threads on here. I thought I'd add my experience anyway.

I was wearing a 38C, and then was properly measured and now I'm a 36DD/E

I couldn't believe it either!

It's great so many other women are now getting their bras sorted....it's made SUCH a difference.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 18:52

I would love to "educate" M&S Doris!

AgathaF · 27/02/2013 18:56

doris - yay to you telling the shit M&S fitter she was in the wrong size Grin

Bunbaker · 27/02/2013 18:59

"Put your right hand round inside the left cup, reaching as far round as you can (I do this infront of a mirror). See all the tissue which creeps over the side of the cup, sticks out under your armpit, or over the backstrap or beside the strap at the back? That's all breast tissue."

I don't have anything to scoop. How can some women have breast tissue on their back?

Can mumsnet start a campaign with stores like M & S to improve their bra measuring service?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 27/02/2013 19:02

I don't have ANY flesh apart from what's in my exceedingly minimal boobs. The thought of it being on my back is odd. Can you really push what's at the back to the front?

WishIdbeenatigermum · 27/02/2013 19:07

Me! Went from supermarket Blush 34aa to Victoria secret 32b. I wouldn't have dared go in there unless I'd read these threads.

lljkk · 27/02/2013 19:08

I thought you were supposed to push the stuff from sides into front.

I can't do it either. There is nothing but hard rib bones under my arms, at all times.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:09

Not everyone has tissue round the sides - generally the bigger your boobs are, the more is round there too! It is also made worse by badly fitting bras which actually force it to migrate backwards.

devoncreamtea · 27/02/2013 19:12

oooh this is good! For the life of me CANNOT find a bra a that fits...doing measuring thing now! (thanks!!)

ok: 31 under boob, 42 round boobs...anyone help?

cantreachmytoes · 27/02/2013 19:12

Thanks, Statistically! Off to do some shopping now!

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:14

DevonCreamTea, start with a 30HH. Most people who are in between suit the smaller back size better, but also try a 30H, 32H, 32GG.

Lovecat · 27/02/2013 19:17

Me!

Thanks to Statistically Challenged, I went from 36DD to a 32G/32GG depending on the style of the bra (M&S Rosie is a 32G, balcony styles seem to be a GG).

The difference it makes is phenomenal! Thank you once again, SC :o

BelaLugosisShed · 27/02/2013 19:17

I didn't fill a 38c so I don't see how I could be a DD Confused, I have no flab/spare flesh around my rib cage at all either. A bra can fit me on the outer side of my boobs but be practically empty and wrinkly where my cleavage should be - I think my boobs are hiding under my arms.
DD worked for La senza for a couple of years and even she can't figure me out!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 27/02/2013 19:22

Maybe you should try a balcony?

I'm wondering what I should try for "rounding".

In the depths of Cornwall we have m&s and that's it! Glad to hear they're getting some smaller back sizes in.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:22

Bela that sounds like you do need the bigger cup but in a different shape of bra which is quite widely spaced. I suspect a plunge would be awful on you. If your breasts are wide set then maybe try Panache (who have quite a wide central gore i.e. they suck on me!) or some Curvy Kates.

I have a friend who has very wide set boobs (she has about a 2" flat gap between them in the middle) and some bras just don't work.

Oh, help me please!

I'm a 34 (just) under bust, heading for 34.5 but a 44 round the boobs. I'm currently wearing a 38 DD but what should I be wearing???

badtasteflump · 27/02/2013 19:29

Just measured myself - am coming up a 30 F - 30 under bust & 37 around. I thought i was a 36 C! Cant believe thats my size - it sounds Jordan-esque and I definitely dont have her boobs! And can you even buy a 30F in your average shop?

Have to admit i love the sound of that size though!

badtasteflump · 27/02/2013 19:30

Ooh was always measured in m&s btw...

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:30

Ladyflip, start at a 34GG.

ExpatWifey, a 28c is a bit of a bugger of a size. Been described as "the unicorn shit of the bra world :) but M&S sell a few. The 28d is quite a bit easier-try brastop to start with. IME Curvy Kate run small in the cup so if you are in between, a 28d in them may be perfect. Ewa Michalak custom make in any size. There is also a bra reducer called the Rixie Clip available on Ebay which you could use in conjunction with a 30 back bra if you found one which fitted you right in the cups.

SecondHandNews · 27/02/2013 19:31

Just found this thread and am intrigued:

I am a 29 under bust - baby 4 months ago though and I suspect ribs haven't quite gone back. 35 (possibly slightly bigger - 35.5) over boobs. Thoughts?

Not BF anymore (obv, otherwise that would make them bigger - I am back to wearing pre-pregnancy bras). I expect I am wearing a too big in the back 32D, but it is comfortable, and done up on the smallest hooks. However, when I try a 30 it digs in by the end of the day... I do have some 30DDs. You'll now probably tell me I am a 28 F or something! Grin.

I also have another problem - I have a bony chestbone it seems. I can only wear bras in which the cups are separated by a piece of material, otherwise the boning digs in and I get dreadful pain and red marks by the end of the day. Unfortunately not many places have bras like this and a lot of my bras therefore come from M&S, and I would rather get them from other lovely ranges but I am not sure what else to do! I can try and find a link to explain the type of bra that is comfortable as I am not sure I am explaining it very well!

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 19:32

badtaste, 30F indeed. Try debenhams on the high street.

(we reckon Miss Price is probably about a 26J in reality, celeb bra sizes stated in the news are always bollocks!)
