Another one goes poof. The "friend of boyfriend climbed into bed with me". Amongst many others.

Starting to wonder what is the point in posting anything supportive. To anybody.

OP posts:
Salmotrutta · 20/12/2012 23:59

Ah bless you TSC- I was feeling bad about it.

I resolve to engage brain in future.

ClippedPhoenix · 20/12/2012 23:59

No one is diplomatic all the time. I'm never nasty either but like you salmotrutta can be flippant and blunt.

PiccadillyCervix · 21/12/2012 00:00

Clipped no, hairy handedness implies the OP was getting off on the thread. Don't think it was anything to do with you

ClippedPhoenix · 21/12/2012 00:06

i still feel like shit though Sad because i didn't stick up for OP and all the other posters were on the other side and on reflection they all had a point regardless of who the OP was. I was wrong in this instance and learned a lesson regardless of it being a troll.

PiccadillyCervix · 21/12/2012 00:08

It's a good lesson to learn, be happy you learned it from a hairy handed trucker in this instance Grin and don't feel too bad about it

LadyBeagleBaublesandBells · 21/12/2012 00:11

Loads of trolls at the moment.
It's the real posters I worry about.
Sorry, I''m on an anti benefits thread at the moment, and other people's fantasies do not match up to the twats out there in RL.
Give me a troll anytime.

ClippedPhoenix · 21/12/2012 00:11

thanks... great name PC Grin

MaryChristmaZEverybody · 21/12/2012 00:12

I do think they are going to have to allow us to say "ffs, this is a load of bollocks" again. Because if they don't, this will continue Angry.

And yes, it is a waste of time posting on loads of threads atm.

Though I suppose some randomers might gain something from the sensible advice given before the thread goes pooft.

ClippedPhoenix · 21/12/2012 00:17

i think on most of these threads there is wisdom who ever the OP is whether it be a troll or not. I'ts about another hundred or so reading gaining insight so alls good really.

How do we know when it's a troll? I can never tell , although I am a bit Xmas Hmm at some threads.

MaryChristmaZEverybody · 21/12/2012 00:19

Doin, you have been here a while. If you are Hmm, it's probably a troll.

At least, whenever I'm Hmm atm, it gets deleted.

And I'm not a genius. There's just lots of them.

WorraLorraTurkey · 21/12/2012 00:21

I think a lot of these threads are cleverly designed to turn posters against each other while the OP sits back with a smirk.

How many times do you see people saying, "Not that I think the OP is genuine but blah blah blah".

Then another poster says, "I don't think the OP is genuine either but your post is a load of bollocks".

Cue lots of falling out and a happy OP.

ClippedPhoenix · 21/12/2012 00:22

Does it really matter? I think getting too hung up on who's a troll or not does damage. Someone has a problem whether it's made up or not, it can happen i suppose and another reader may identify with it.

I worry a bit when people shout my wisdom was wasted here! that sort of smacks of arrogance, its not is it because other genuine posters read it.

Doinmummy · 21/12/2012 00:24

I have been here a while now Mary I guess if it sounds a bit peculiar then it probably is. It's tricky to call someone on it though without sounding harsh. I did express my doubts on one thread , ages ago, and my post got deleted.

PiccadillyCervix · 21/12/2012 00:27

See the if it is is weird it is probably a troll argument doesn't wash with me.

I wouldn't actually post something that happened to me looking for an opinion unless it was unusual. Also I name change constantly despite having been here for years so people would see a post of mine and assume troll

PiccadillyCervix · 21/12/2012 00:30

What was the silly thread?

PiccadillyCervix · 21/12/2012 00:30

Are you sure you haven't got hairy palms?

ClippedPhoenix · 21/12/2012 00:31

Do trolls really matter? answers to problems do. Trolls evoke i guess, a bit like a devils advocate, it's no bad thing. The silly one's make me laugh a lot.

WorraLorraTurkey · 21/12/2012 00:33

What was the 'silly thread that got banned' about?

I think that's quite important here because in the 20 odd years I've been posting on internet forums, MN is by far the most lenient and least trigger happy when it comes to banning people endoftherealrainbow1

PiccadillyCervix · 21/12/2012 00:36

Was it about Friend A/Sharon/T-rexs?

ClippedPhoenix · 21/12/2012 00:36

dry your eyes endof and tell us how silly you have been.

SoleSource · 21/12/2012 00:40

Never mind. Just keep posting. You won't be arrested for that.

Ifyoulike · 21/12/2012 00:40

I think trolls do a lot of harm, and I think people who waste their time doing it need to seriously examine how and why they're getting a thrill from it.

However, I've been on the receiving end of troll-hunting when I was emotionally frazzled and looking for help, and it really was an awful, hurtful experience because what initially seemed very kind and supportive turned fairly rapidly into a lot of jeering and in-jokes.

I'm a regular name-changer (as I always end up posting too many details and making myself very identifiable in real life after a while), and I know this always flags up people's suspicion. But I really think there's a very good reason why MN's official policy is to let them deal with the troll-hunting, because real users get very hurt by that too.
