AIBU to be a bit fucking sick of troll threads

Another one goes poof. The "friend of boyfriend climbed into bed with me". Amongst many others.

Starting to wonder what is the point in posting anything supportive. To anybody.

And you are all going to Report them to us, aren't you?

HalleLouja · 21/12/2012 13:52

Yes Helen miss you may find I have done that already.

Let's just say I do know about one of the threads above and why it went pouf. There are a few or another 30 mumsnetters who would back me up on why we think they have hairy hands.

Some of these people build up a lot of bland posts on line so they look less troll like. Some things may be true others not.

Clumsyoaf · 21/12/2012 13:57

I hadn?t even really heard of Mumsnet before my first post, and actually a lot of people who posted on my thread gave me a lot of confidence to deal with the situation I was in. But on the other hand there were some that were convinced I was a troll, and said some quite hurtful things. As a new poster some of the old crowd here can be quite intimidating. But having lurked for a while now I get the gist of how it goes ? actually I have had many laughs and ?oh no.. what happen next???? over last few weeks.

LineRunner · 21/12/2012 13:59

Yes MissHelen, I 'as been good today.

And my 'Bollocks' of yesterday was in response to a poster who quite frankly didn't do the obvious and right course of action. Put it this way, if my mate said she saw an old man being mugged and knocked down in the street and couldn't be arsed calling the Police, because why should she, it's not her problem, she had her DC to fuss about, and I exclaimed, 'Bollocks', I wouldn't be saying she was making it up, I'd be saying I thought her reaction was absolute pants.

Maybe it's a cultural thing.

Precisement, as Poirot would say.

So maybe we need an allowable 'Bollocks to that reaction' code.

LineRunner · 21/12/2012 14:12

Or we could just stop swearing.

"Or we could just stop swearing."

Shock

Surely there's a better solution than that!

BrianCoxIsAChristmasPud · 21/12/2012 14:24

Or we could just stop swearing.

You'll be wanting sparkly tickers n shit next!

Just to add to the overall conversation, it would appear that people do get hurt by believing something they shouldn't, believing that somebody is who they say they are!

Me for one, what a muppet.

It would appear that pregnancy has numbed my troll-dar, I take back my comments upthread vouching for Dinosaur's after new info came to light.

Sad
PiccadillyCervix · 21/12/2012 14:40

I don't see why any one would care if someone they don't know on the internet doesn't believe them?

I think we should all come to every thread with the assumption that the OP's pants are on fire. This is a stranger off the internet. Since when are we supposed to trust strangers? Even children know better.

Don't be abusive, don't be cruel because sometimes someone slagging off your parenting or choises can be hurtful. But a stranger saying "nah, sorry I don't think this is true" shouldn't hurt your feelings.

Ifyoulike · 21/12/2012 15:03

From my experience, it wasn't people not believing me that was hurtful (because I do understand scepticism), it was the way they then went on to make fun of the people trying to actually help (for being too gullible)... and cracking extremely distasteful jokes about the whole thing.

sasamaxx · 21/12/2012 17:15

Like hallelouja said, sometimes trolls really aren't obvious at all.
I agree that its not at all helpful to cry 'troll' for every outlandish thread, and sometimes trolls are more subtle, building confidence through mundane threads.

Ghostsgowoooh · 21/12/2012 17:18

That marvin thread looks like another troll one, tis being deleted now

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 21/12/2012 17:20

Yep, another PBP

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 21/12/2012 17:31

PBP?

HalleLouja · 21/12/2012 17:32

Can we carry on with the swearing. I love the swearing best of all in this forum of vipers.

inkonapin · 21/12/2012 17:33

BrianCox, yep, people definitely do get hurt by trolls, you're not the only one, not by a long shot. They are very good liars (until they start to go just a leeeetle too far and the bullshit starts to show) and they suck people in. It's horrible. They are horrible.

How does banning work, exactly, out of interest? Do MNHQ ban the IP address or something? Or just the user name, in which case, surely they could just name change and come back again?

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 21/12/2012 17:40

Previously Banned Poster

Mumsnet is crawling with 'em at the moment
