Will you stop all that shouting.

It is offensive to deaf people, they get shouted at all the time.

Walk a mile in someone else's shoe, will you?!

HoneyDragon · 06/11/2012 13:59

Tim Berners-Lee, Hully.

And we have LOADS of threads being satirical about the unemployed/racists etc.

OP posts:
BupcakesAndCunting · 06/11/2012 14:00

But TheRhubarb, no-one made a "joke" about race. The OP of that other thread (rather hamfistedly) made a sarky reference to a bigotted opinion, that wasn't her own.

Absy · 06/11/2012 14:00

Ah ha! to be fair, it wouldn't be the first time I've spread wild rumours about some one, but with the best of intentions.

BTW - has anyone seen The Dictator with Sacha Baron-Cohen? At one point they mention George Clooney and the MN rumours.

Is SBC or Isla a MNer?

Hullygully · 06/11/2012 14:01

RELEASE YOUR INNER MORRIS MAN GERROF. LET HIM FREE

(With apologies to all transitioning Morris people everywhere)

OP posts:
EdsRedeemingQualities · 06/11/2012 14:01

A lot of people said, FFS it's a JOKE though

confusing really

Pinot · 06/11/2012 14:01

Gerrof...

do you know the morris man, the morris man, the morris man?

THERhubarb · 06/11/2012 14:01

Then what, pray, is the point of this thread? What point are you making?

I know you have accused Mumsnetters of being humourless before and I've always sat on the fence as I find Frankie Boyle funny but would never repeat his jokes to anyone I knew would take offence. So do you really think that anything goes where humour is concerned and those who are offended can piss off?

helpyourself · 06/11/2012 14:01

THERhubarb
She overheard it and was posting in exasperation. It was really obvious.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/11/2012 14:01

Why are you arguing with me on such a ridiculous point, help? Confused

Are you trying to demonstrate exactly what this thread is complaining about?

tits head Hully are you ok?

EdsRedeemingQualities · 06/11/2012 14:02

Look it was a joke and we should have found it funny, or it wasn't a joke and we didn't need to. Which is it?

Hullygully · 06/11/2012 14:02

I don't know that I have a Point.

I am just fed up with reading things that are CLEARLY INTENDED to be satirical/funny amusing and watching people go all po over them.

Save the outrage for where it's really needed

Bupcakes. The OP did not make it clear in her OP that the view was not her own.

She posted a racist view then ended with "bored fred".

Most people read the OP and not her post at a later stage saying she overheard it in the hairdressers.

It was a mistake in my opinion.
I've made them too. I've done offensive thread titles without really thinking and I've taken the onslaught, apologised and had the thread pulled.

Saying those who didn't see the funny side are humourless rejects from the 1970s is going too far.

ScrambledSmegs · 06/11/2012 14:04

Grin at Cynner.

garlicbaguette · 06/11/2012 14:04

I'm reporting myself for calling Alzheimer's a "terrible" disease, thus stigmatising Alzheimer's sufferers.

garlicbaguette · 06/11/2012 14:04

And am deeply offended, on behalf of christians, at my unthinking use of the word "stigmatise" to mean down-value, when it refers to the stigmata carried by christ as wounds from his crucifixion.

garlicbaguette · 06/11/2012 14:04

And I'd better report myself for presuming to speak on behalf of christians, which is probably insolent of me as an atheist.
