When did all this happen?

I only walked the dog.

And why all the shouting? I have a headache.

Sssshhhhhh

anklebitersmum · 06/11/2012 15:06

I'm offended that I've had to read really fast to catch up to page 13 and would just like to say

"No capes Darling, no capes"

How am I advising crowd following?

If you do not find something funny, what's the problem?
I don't truly understand why you would decide to participate, and keep on and on participating on a thread where x amount of posters are sharing a joke that you don't find funny.

And why, just because you dont find it funny, you want to make damn sure no one else can enjoy the thread.

If people go looking for an issue, then they will find one.

But sometimes, there is no actual issue. And the whole entire thread stops being what it was, a lighthearted joke and erupts into a slanging match.

What's the point?

LadyBeagle · 06/11/2012 15:10

I think Buppers thread about her camp Dh was a perfect example of people not getting the joke.
She was laughing at him but it was light hearted and utterly harmless.

Sparklyoldwhizzbangcatpusswhee · 06/11/2012 15:11

I don't remember the last time I laughed out loud on here! I haven spat tea across my keyboard for ages. Sad

Sparklyoldwhizzbangcatpusswhee · 06/11/2012 15:12

Oops, takes back the sad face incase it upsets and very cold people.

Softlysoftly · 06/11/2012 15:12

Crowd following in that if you should joke in a thread that you find distinctly unfunny as the majority are.

Why should a poster not challenge something they find unfunny? Why should they slink away? In the same way you could simply choose not to respond to a poster you think isn't enjoying your joke. They can't take away your fun only you can. Free wil and all that.

Sorry laqueen finding a particular topic unfunny means the poster has an inability to keep up mentally Confused

Jesus can you see daylight from that far up your bum?

ExitPursuedByABrrrrrrr · 06/11/2012 15:18

But Softly posters can spoil the fun of others by pouring cold water on a thread with their po-facedness.

ScrambledSmegs · 06/11/2012 15:18

I find the show Miranda excruciatingly dull and tedious on the few occasions I've had to watch it thanks Mum But if there were a group of Miranda fans on here having a chat about their favourite show, I wouldn't wade in and berate them for excluding me from the joke.

Wading in and berating happens a lot more now. It isn't necessary in most cases.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 06/11/2012 15:18

laQueen you have just said exactly what I meant but far more eloquently than me Grin

And no, I don't think you should join in with a thread you don't find funny.
I think you should just not post on it

Teethkissing · 06/11/2012 15:22

That's all very well LaQueen, unless you are offending people and then ridiculing them for being insulted.

You think people want to join in?? With that?? But they don't have the ability????

they know they don't have the ability to write like that

Having a different view point or sense of humour doesn't indicate an inability to write one liners or make jokes. If that was true then there would be a serious lack of comedians out there.

InSPsFanjoNoOneHearsYouScream · 06/11/2012 15:25

What if you've got the wrong end of the stick, Teeth, but can't see it? I remember that happened on the arse stakes thread - OP was deeply offended by something that she'd misunderstood, IIRC.

PickledFanjoCat · 06/11/2012 15:26

Double bad bitchez!

At least you have a fucking cupboard. Thats all Im saying. I have to keep my clothes up SPs fanjo.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 06/11/2012 15:28

So someone please explain why you would read a thread, not find the humour amusing, and decide you are going to rant away on it, explaining to people why they are not funny?

Not because you are offended. Because no one else has been able to find anything on the thread offensive.
Just not funny.

Do people think, how dare people have a laugh and just jump in and rant away?

Softlysoftly · 06/11/2012 15:29

Exit did you see the thread in question? If a thread was very clearly lighthearted for example the "should I just squat and shit in a newspaper" which tested my pelvic floor failed that test then then I would be inclined to agree.

Where there is a massive grey area in meaning then absolutely posters have the right to jump in and question the "joke".

Soles thread was neither witty nor phrased as a debate and an opinion that has lead to my DHs business being smashed up, a knife to his head and an uncertain future for my kids, to me is not a way to lighten up a dull afternoon.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 06/11/2012 15:31

Im not talking about soles thread though.

Jump right in and challenge racism, disabilist views, etc.

But not people sharing a joke

UltraBOF · 06/11/2012 15:33

It was a crap thread. But lots of posters seemed determined to extrapolate from the OP that she wanted to invade Poland or something. It just didn't warrant the pious fuss it created, even if that's what the OP was covertly angling for on a bored wet Tuesday.

SecretCermonials · 06/11/2012 15:33

I have a perfect example of what is being discribed... There is a christmas threa about funny ways to tell people you are expecting on xmas day... Cue loads of people piling in to say why the OP is tacky etc... If the question isnt asked dont answer it... People just wade in being professionally offended.

It astounds me how they have space in their lives to car about who might be offended... If it doesn't offend them personally?!

I spose in the same way we say if you dont like whats on tv jeremy kyle turn over, if you dont like the topic of the thread, and it isnt in some way asking your opinion on it, dont join it?

So many needless bunfights atm.
