GOML is

Ohhhhhhhhh Giglet YY!

HolyAutumnGoldBatman · 06/11/2012 14:28

Apologies Eds I misread your tone. I'm not sure if finding something funny indicates a lack of sense of humour though? It may indicate a skewed sense of humour, but not a lack of one. Surely, a lack of sense of humour is indicated by never finding anything funny?

THERhubarb · 06/11/2012 14:29

helpyourself. No, it means that I understand where those so-called humourless people are coming from. There are millions of members of Mumsnet so you are going to come across child abuse victims, DV victims, victims of racism, disabled parents, parents of children with SN. In fact a broad spectrum of people and so, just as you would not tell your gran a Frankie Boyle joke so you have to be sensitive to others on a forum like Mumsnet.

Making out that those who are offended are idiots or humourless is just crass.

LaQueen (I doubt it is LeQueen) illustrates my point nicely.

And now I am off because I've made my point and there's nothing more to be said.

Teethkissing · 06/11/2012 14:29

It?s really arrogant to think someone is stupid, or in some way inferior to you, because they have a different sense of humour Confused
If someone is offended by something that I think is inoffensive/irrelevant then I assume they have had different life experiences which have given them different sensitivities
Why would you goad someone for being offended? Unless you really enjoy upsetting people? Confused

PosieParker · 06/11/2012 14:29

How about some people that think something is offensive have every right to say so and post? If you choose to continue then that's up to you.

SelfRighteousPrissyPants · 06/11/2012 14:29

If GetOrf was a cloggie she's a clog dancer not a morris dancer.

EdgarAllanPond · 06/11/2012 14:30

AIBU TO THINK THAT NO-ONE SHOULD BE HAPPY BECAUSE IT IS OFFENSIVE TO UNHAPPY PEOPLE??

EdsRedeemingQualities · 06/11/2012 14:30

No need to apologise, I was just surprised that anyone would or could find what Laqueen wrote about Rhubarb remotely funny.

It was so patently nasty. iyswim

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/11/2012 14:31

Rhubs - that is shite. I can empathise with that feeling totally. having to listen to horrible bollocks and then 'oh my god it was only a joke' when you bite.

i don't think that is in the same as what hully is referring to on here though.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/11/2012 14:31

I AM NOT A MOTHERFUCKING MORRIS MAN

I did see it as patently nasty obviously as I wouldn't have found it funny. I can agree to disagree though. No offence intended. No offence taken.

PosieParker · 06/11/2012 14:33

For once I think Hully has posted a pretty shit OP.

People still use words like retard and mong because they're funny and it's just a joke meaning no harm.

Reminds me of the dicks that think we're too PC.

NotQuintAtAllOhNo · 06/11/2012 14:34

Nobody gives a flying frick whether somebody is a Morris or a Gorris.

Good god, whats happened on MN today?!

EdsRedeemingQualities · 06/11/2012 14:35

Yes likewise, no offence intended or taken. Each to their own.

HolyAutumnGoldBatman · 06/11/2012 14:35

but where is the line Posie? Are you really saying we shouldn't post anything that may offend anyone? Even if the vast majority of people would not be offended and the few people that are offended have heightened sensitivity to the specific issue?

StuntGirl · 06/11/2012 14:35

LaQueen is LeQueen isn't she?

NotQuintAtAllOhNo · 06/11/2012 14:35

No, Hully is referring to the racist thread that got deleted where not everybody understood was a joke.
