To be sick of people on FB selling old shite in the name of handcrafted "gifts"

Is it just me or is everyone trying to become the next Cath bloody Kidston or Martha Stewart?

MULTIPLE people on my FB seem to be flogging their old tat that they've knocked up whilst on maternity leave or during their lunch breaks!

One friend is selling "Fabulous teacup gift sets" which consist of a charity shop teacup and saucer, filled with Ferero Rocher and wrapped in clear plastic for a tenner!

Another does "Adorable Baby hair bands for your little princess" consisting of a fabric flower tacked onto a pound-shop hairband....6 quid thank you very much!

I've seen multiple badly painted wooden letters (un-sanded) with little bows and shit stuck on "£3 per letter" if you please.

Like people can't make this stuff themselves!?

Really? I'm ALL for selling crafts but have these people no shame? Or no judgement? Or am I a caaah?

YABU to have FB for a start, but just defriend all the tat sellers?

Some people sell some pretty good shit, though.

There are some crafters who are really good at what they do and then there are those who really aren't. There's a mum at school who tries to flog me her cakes. I can make my own bloody cakes! And if I can't asda do them cheaper.

I would de-friend anyone who tried to sell me a baby headband. In RL I mean, am not on FB.

Oh I know I dont have to buy it but I am genuinely shocked that people have the gall to say "Buy this Marvelous Thing" when it's not a Marvelous Thing at all!

I think its ok if people try and make some money, Just unfriend them if it bothers you so much.

Sometimes I see something beautiful and think wow....yes...get down! That's a fabulous hat, blanket, doll, whatever...but other times I'm just amazed at the crap.

annoys me too especially when its pointed out to them they are now business sellers and they suddenly disapear and start their own page.

I'm amazed at the tat I see in expensive 'shabby chic' shops, but some people seem to love it.

Worst I saw was a girl selling baby dummies covered in those little sticky "jewels".

Not only dd they look crass, and very TOWIE, but were probably not safe to be giving to little children who chew EVERTHING.

Yes I agree. The cupcakes/fabric hearts/felted flowers thing just makes my teeth itch now. I suppose every era has its craft du jour though... Macrame pot hangers and mosaics in the 70s... Cork and pyrography in the 80s... Stencilling and trompe d'oeil in the 90s...

I have two friends who own art/craft shops and they both have a very good eye and manage to sell interesting items, but have to turn down a lot of tat.

Then again, I like to make things myself, and I've nothing against people making a bit of money (so long as they don't hard-sell).
