It is a movie I have always tried to avoid as it psychologically terrifies me. The slow descent into insanity of Jack Nicholson's character.

I shouldn't be this scared should I?

I am going to watch and conquer my fear.

Which movie terrifies you?

I've never seen the shining but was saying earlier today I think I want to.

Slasher films like Scream scare me, also Poltergeist, Halloween, Friday the thirteenth.

comedycentral · 24/10/2012 22:44

Madness aside I would love to look after a deserted hotel for the winter. Awesome.

BTW Her acting is so wooden.

comedycentral · 24/10/2012 22:45

Argh the twins!!!!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 24/10/2012 22:45

The Shining is really scary! But it is just about the only Horror film that I can manage!

comedycentral · 24/10/2012 22:46

"Come and play with us Danny" eeeek!

DorsetKnob · 24/10/2012 22:47

What side is it on?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 24/10/2012 22:48

I always wish that he did finish his wife off! She is a right annoying cow!

DS used to go to school with identical twins just like those! Confused

lucyellenmum · 24/10/2012 22:48

I don't think i have ever been scared by a film, i feel a bit cheated really. I have however been disturbed by a few, this is not a good thing. Wolf creek is the worse film i have ever ever seen and i will never watch it again. My DD likes to torment me with it "No, THIS is a knife" she will say, randomly, cow!! Grin

SoleSource · 24/10/2012 22:51

Ooh I love that film. The one that scared me the most was What Lies Beneath, weirdly enough. Don't want to say why in case it spoils it for anyone who's never seen it but one scene in particular just hit the nerve for me!

VitoCorleone · 24/10/2012 22:52

I love The Shining! First saw it when i was about 10 and was terrified.

Ive seen A LOT of horror films over the years, but nothing scared me as much as Paranormal Activity 3, i couldnt sleep properly for about 3 weeks after seeing it, i couldnt even go upstairs in my own home at night without my DP!! He had to escort me to the toilet and wait for me!! Seriously, i was terrified.

I think the ones that scare me most are the ones about ghosts and people getting possessed. And ones where you dont actually see much and your imagination runs wild.

RinderThrillerNight · 24/10/2012 22:53

The Shining is a seriously scary film. I don't think I could watch it again actually.

I am such a wimp though, and actively avoid watching any horror film.

Ullena · 24/10/2012 22:55

I used to be terrified of Poltergeist...then the last time I saw it, it seemed that the whole family were actually stoned and that the bird may have died from a gas leak or summit...

I still refuse to watch Watcher In The Woods, and have realised it is probably based on HP Lovecraft so a bit Confused at it being a kids movie! At least my mum always said it was a kids movie.

numbum · 24/10/2012 22:57

I don't think I've ever been properly spooked by a film but found films creepy. I love a good creepy film. The Orphanage played on my mind for days

comedycentral · 24/10/2012 22:58

Room 237 oh dear!!

SoleSource · 24/10/2012 22:59

I've never seen The Shining, I avoid at all cost, any scary films.
I'm the biggest woos from woosdom.
Why would I want that stuff in my head?
I gave up on the book, and never read any more Steven King.
Life should be about fluffy kittens and puppies and lovely films with happy endings where the dog doesn't die.
That's just me though.[hgrin]

Clawdy · 24/10/2012 22:59

The Shining is a terrifying film, and in some ways more unpleasant than the book. In the book, the Jack character becomes possessed, but in the final horrifying scenes, his real self breaks through for a few seconds and he begs the little boy to run from him, which makes it curiously moving. In the film,he's just downright evil. Brilliant, though.

SoleSource · 24/10/2012 23:01

Ullena the ptergiest is frightening. The evil guy.

Good god a noise outside I jumped outta my freaking skin

Lol comedy!

comedycentral · 24/10/2012 23:04

Not read the book. Will have to put it on my library list

VivaLeBeaver · 24/10/2012 23:04

I screamed in the cinema when I saw What Lies Beneath. Really shit me up.

SoleSource · 24/10/2012 23:04

Ooooooohhhhhhhh the barman is there

Afraid to go to kitchen for tea

comedycentral · 24/10/2012 23:05

This is going to sound so old but, I don't think they make horrors like they used to. They don't scare me anymore, they are just gory and fucked up (think hostel)

comedycentral · 24/10/2012 23:07

Go to kitchen, were here...we won't let anything happen to you.
