I have noticed this mother at the school before, kissing her DS(8) full on the lips, half a dozen times, with wet sloppy kisses outside the classroom door. This morning she was directly in front of me and it was 'mmmmm......mmmmmm......mmmmm.......mmmmmmm....etc' in our faces. I kiss my DS wherever I can aim and catch him (head,cheek,anorak). Am I being weird? When I was at home, wet sloppy kisses on the lips were for people you were married to/in a partnership with. Or AIBU?

I kiss 16mo DD on the lips which may change in the future - I don't know. I do know however that there is a difference between kissing on the lips and snogging. You're second post, OP, was quite unsavoury.

Chubfuddler - that's interesting. I kind of assumed before I had dd that I wouldn't kiss her on the lips, I'm not a very demonstrative person. But - that's what she clearly thinks we ought to be doing. So I do!

I probably didn't go all out to kiss dd on the lips but she clearly has different ideas and kisses both her dad and I on the lips. She thinks it is hilarious - it doesn't bother me. It's weird to think it's weird - I wouldn't choose for anyone else to come into the loo with me but I don't have any choice with her, she wanders in and out and it feels natural.

Haven't read whole thread and cannot, alas, contribute to doggerel verse popping up above, but... OP, YABU, I am always grabbing my DSs for a smooch, think kissing on the cheek is way too stiff and formal. Maybe I should just shake hands with them, to avoid causing any distress on the school run .
