Boys wearing tights.

It was a chilly day on Sunday, and I had a pair of DD's old tights in the drawer so put them on DS to keep his legs and feet warm as he crawls around the whole house now.

A friend came around and saw him, and told me I'd scar him for life for making him wear girls clothes. I just laughed at her and told her he was in DD's flowery snowsuit for the first 3 months of his life too. I don't have a problem with boys wearing girly clothes when they're babies, but she didn't seem amused.

I went out yesterday and bought him some more cheapo tights from Primark to wear around the house, because they're comfortable, practical and keep him warm. When he's wearing his sleepsuits, his feet get tangled when he's crawling, and the poppers pop open, so there's no point in wearing them. Joggers with feet, also just pull off when he crawls. Socks just get pulled off and put in the mouth.

AIBU? Do people judge you if you make your son wear girls clothes? Are there any type of tights/leggings for boys out there that I've missed or something?

(Just thought I'd add, he looks adorable in his red ones he's wearing today with a manly red rugby shirt :)).

My ds (and 5 other boys) had to wear tights as part of one of the costumes in panto last year. They looked horrified initially, needed a lesson in putting them on, and then proclaimed them very comfortable.
In fact it was ds' favourite costume last year.

Oh for goodness sake, zombie thread and what a stupid bump of it.
By the way, the panto was run by a church group, one of the dames (we did Cinderella) was church warden. Our previous dame was the vicar.
This year the boys are going to have mini dame costumes too.

If God is upset about that then I shall be amazed. I think he rather enjoys it myself.

Yep and Leviticus bans rating shell fish, mixing fabric, cutting your hair at the sides and getting tattoos.

So unless you've never cut your hair eat prawns/cockles/scallops and only wear cotton or wool, then your going to hell too. Oh think of all those transcestites and gay people your going to meet most of them will never have worn tights in their lives!

It wasn't until the 18/19th century that clothes became male/female men have worn skirts and tights through our history! Going in the Christian thing again if wearing girls clothes against the bible why do boys get christened in a gown, erm a dress!

A Christian who knows a lot of the Old Testament is out of date and completely made up! So is a lot of the new testament but that is a whole other thread! Any way thanks for the concern about our after life but I'm more concerned about yours!

Thanks to this thread I've just spent £100 on P.OP on lovely merino snuggly winter things for my baby DS.
For the record, he wears tights too :)

Oh ffs the app doesn't alert you to zombie threads. Oh well.

Many years ago, a traffic officer friend let slip that a lot of police motorbike riders often wore tights to keep warm ....

I'm with witchend, why on earth can't a little boy wear tights?
Very sensible in winter!

winewolfhowls · 24/10/2015 15:30

Zuilly have some gorgeous ones at the moment

minimalist000001 · 24/10/2015 15:37

If tights were good for Robin of Sherwood, then they are good enough for your son Grin

But actually my friend dresses her son in tights and I can't see the problem

"It wasn't until the 18/19th century that clothes became male/female"
