To think that these T-shirts are disgusting?

Whatever you may think of her, this is hardly in good taste is it? It just makes the unions look bad to have this sort of thing on sale at their conference. Can you imagine the CBI having T-shirts looking forward to the deaths of Tony Benn, or Shirley Williams, on sale at their conference?

Well you are just being deliberately silly now. I clearly said there was fault on both sides, police and miners.

Weren't you the one criticising argument techniques like that earlier btw? Just make fun and deliberatley miss the point

flatpackhamster · 13/09/2012 15:20

I'm not missing the point. I'm parodying the prevailing narrative in the thread. I'm not closing down the argument by claiming that I'm a better person.

Kayano · 13/09/2012 15:25

It's still pretty pathetic either way especially as I said there were faults on both sides. Yet you then peddle out the usual crap implying I'm saying the miners were saints?

It's not a parody
It's a LIE

NurseRatched · 13/09/2012 15:47

I don't like the T-shirts - but I can certainly understand why some folk would want to dance a metaphorical jig...

LineRunner · 13/09/2012 15:54

Like I said upthread, I sincerely hope she doesn't die, so she can answer questions on her role in the Hillsborough cover-up, preferably as part of a Leveson-style inquiry.

Dawndonna · 13/09/2012 16:07

Unfortunately, she has Alzheimer's disease so will be unable to answer questions coherently.

"Councils could easily find the funding from their over inflated executives salaries and bonus schemes with golden parachutes and pensions, through regional salary agreement for fire and police etc. etc.

But no, they prefer to push the blame on up the road when it is their own inaction that leads to services being cut."

And the figures that lead you to this conclusion come from where?

(Genuine Question - interested to know).

Abra1d · 13/09/2012 16:22

The t-shirts more about the people manufacturing and wearing them than it does about MT.

Abra1d · 13/09/2012 16:23

Sorry, words missing, the t-shirts say more about the people manufacturing and wearing them thanthey do about MT.

NurseRatched · 13/09/2012 21:16

Tanith: Shipbuilding by Elvis Costello - I bought the record of version [The Falklands War is another thread..]

NurseRatched · 13/09/2012 21:38

Limitedperiodonly: I was in the south but it is possible to see what's happening to other people in your own country if you want to look > ditto here, LtdPO

I don't want to take over this answer but I do know that council executives receive enormous salaries (£100k-£150k + pension + benefits). Those salaries are completely out of line for the responsibility and risk the job entails. The Taxpayers Alliance has a Public Sector Rich List, and IIRC most of the top earners are council CEOs (and the highest earners are often in the poorest areas).

Can't comment on regional salary agreements but I can see the validity - why should policemen living in Kent with a high cost of living receive the same salary as those in Humberside with a low cost of living? It seems nonsensical.

When did this become all about you?

limitedperiodonly · 13/09/2012 22:50

flatpack what is the average budget for a local authority covering a metropolitan area or NHS Foundation Trust and the number of employees for each?

I have no idea and hold no brief for incompetent chief executives. But I'm interested to know if you could assist with figures and performances.

LineRunner · 13/09/2012 22:53

limited I worked out that in my urban area the loss of government grant this year will be £1m per 10,000 residents.

limitedperiodonly · 13/09/2012 22:57

Thanks Linerunner

Can I ask you to quote for head of population too flatpack?

Just roughly.

There's probably some other important facts I've forgotten. But I'm sure someone else will be along to assist you, so don't rush.

Kayano · 13/09/2012 23:38

Jesus fucking Christ I never said this was all about me! You are so rude it is unreal. You were the one taking the piss out of what I said wrongly so of course I'm going to call you on that

In no way is this about me, it's about pigging Margaret Thatcher - I can't believe I've wasted so much time thinking about it.

Did anyone see what Liam fox suggested for the economy today btw? Slash capital gains tax funded by welfare reforms?

Redbindy · 14/09/2012 00:10

This thread has badly drifted. I think that selling tee shirts about her dying is in poor taste. They should have sold shirts saying that her mental problems were diagnosed thirty years too late. Dance on her grave - I hope the state funeral takes place so that millions of us can line the routes and dance and sing with joy. This woman let loose the powers of the state on the working people and only cried when she was kicked out by her own party for being an electoral liability. Google "Lower than vermin" for further information about the tory party.

merrymouse · 14/09/2012 07:00

I am still a bit confused by this argument though - As far as I know pretty much all councils around me are Tory controlled (Outside London, South East). We have had cut backs by local council (specifically libraries closed, open hours cut) - are you arguing that all councils lack funds to pay for libraries because employee salaries are too high, or is it just Labour councils?

limitedperiodonly · 15/09/2012 19:36

'If you spit on your own you can't do anything. But if you all spit together, you can drown the bastards'.

why I love Bob Crow for generating this sort of headline (Daily Mail link for those who are sensitive to this kind of thing. For once, I think it's worth it to see it in all its frothing glory)

If you're that interested in doing the research, then do the research. I'm sure we'll all be interested in your findings.

Can I ask you to quote for head of population too flatpack?

You can ask, but I'm not doing it.

Just roughly.

I won't. You want to know that badly, do the research.

Dawndonna · 16/09/2012 12:05

That's funny flatpack.
Still it does mean I can continue to ignore your contributions to these threads. They're hardly serious, are they, I mean if you can't provide empirical evidence your argument is somewhat fatally flawed.

limitedperiodonly · 16/09/2012 18:07

Dawndonna says all I wanted to say.

You're not worth taking seriously flatpack

merrymouse · 16/09/2012 19:27

So I'll take that as meaning you dont actually know then flatpack. Fair enough.

merrymouse · 16/09/2012 19:33

Although I do believe that a head of a council would earn more than most other public sector workers. Not sure why this would be surprising.
