When my husband walked out on me and our two little children, I would not have survived without the tax credit system put in place by Gordon Brown then Labour Chancellor.

My DD is just starting College to do A levels, and my DS will follow next year. I still have my home, my health and my sanity. My DCs still have their home, a working mother, and have had quality child care whilst growing up.

The country has around £3,000 Billion of debts to be paid off (public sector pension deficit, PFI, state pension deficit, national debt) - and Labour created a third of that buying your vote and the votes of lots of other people who wanted FREE STUFF NOW and who weren't prepared to pay for it.

I was able to keep working, and give my DCs a good start, by being able to afford decent child care.

By working, I was able to contribute in so many ways (I was teaching other people's kids; paying tax and NI; paying my own way; doing some voluntary work).

It was a win-win.

A good lifestyle choice was to get PG, have a child, get a flat. Was one of the most appealing options for girls my age. WHen I said I wanted to go to Uni my CAREERS teacher LAUGHED. TOld me a YTS would be more in keeping for my outlook on life (I did do a degree, and two post grad courses)
