...to change the bedding once a week?

Do you think that's adequate? New partner says his ExDW changed it every 2-3 days. Now as far as I know they weren't bonking like mad (or so he told me!) so I don't see the need for that frequency! He's started staying over at mines on weekends, usually a Saturday but this week he stayed on Friday so the same sheets were on since the previous Sat iyswim. Also, we hadn't had sex in the bed the last time he was here (tmi?). I would normally change them on a Saturday morning as I work full time mon-fri. I'm actually feeling a bit Hmm about him comparing my cleanliness to ExDW as she didn't work. Anyway, I'm ranting. How often do you change your sheets?

Once a week here, and I'm known as a bit of a neat freak. I do change the guest bed sheets every night they have been slept in though (unlike my best friend who sticks guests in the same sheets that her cats have slept on for the previous week or so. I never stay over..... Grin )

MigratingCoconuts · 10/09/2012 20:08

What kind of insensitive prick compares his new partner with his ex???

Is he normally so thoughtful Hmm

Maat · 10/09/2012 20:08

Does he also expect his towel to be in the shape of a swan and a chocolate on his pillow?

nikcname · 10/09/2012 20:09

Once a week most of the year, every day or two in the Summer when the weather is good. I absolutely love clean sheets! Don't iron them though, is a step too far! So UANBU!

sherbetpips · 10/09/2012 20:10

Every 2 weeks here

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 10/09/2012 20:11

There should be a special for GOML on these threads

Nosleeptillgodknowswhen · 10/09/2012 20:11

Yes YADBU - once a week is far too organised.

InkleWinkle · 10/09/2012 20:12

I assume he has his own place now? How often does he change his own sheets then?

QuacksForDoughnuts · 10/09/2012 20:12

Christ, he (or his ex) would be disgusted here! Mr Quack and I are pretty much on the same page over this and we both hate the task of putting new sheets and especially duvet covers on, meaning the sheets don't get done that often. I thought I was bad until I met him - then when I was still putting clean sheets on anticipating him staying over, he was deliberately putting sheets on his bed a week or so before my visits so he could justify washing them after a weekend of shagging...

iknowwho · 10/09/2012 20:12

3 x a week here. It gets done on Sunday, Wedneday and Friday.
It's not a big deal. I'm hardly going to a river and washing by hand and hoping it stays dry for hours!!

AllPastYears · 10/09/2012 20:13

Once every three two weeks. The ex-wife was bonkers. Tell him if he doesn't like it he can wash them himself.

mamij · 10/09/2012 20:13

Fortnightly here.

What on earth was he thinking when he compared your sheet changing exercise to his ex?! I'm with the other posters - bin him! Or at least let him change the sheets.

margerykemp · 10/09/2012 20:14

Does anyone change their pillowcases more often than the sheets?

I've heard some people buy double the number of pillowcases to match the covers.

So not something I've ever considered!

AllPastYears · 10/09/2012 20:15

"I assume he has his own place now? How often does he change his own sheets then? Good point InkleWinkle

Can we assume it's never? Grin

Flisspaps · 10/09/2012 20:15

If he wants sheets changing that often, he should fuck off back to his ex.

AllPastYears · 10/09/2012 20:16

margery, sounds like a great idea, why have I never thought of that? The pillowcases get greasy long before the rest needs a wash.

lisaro · 10/09/2012 20:16

Tell him fair enough, but you've got a life, so if he wants it done and cleaned that often he's welcome to do it.

ICutMyFootOnOccamsRazor · 10/09/2012 20:17

We change ours twice a week because I love clean sheets and the children always seem to get on our bed when they're exceptionally grubby Hmm, but no way would I be having anyone tell me how often I should be changing them.

We don't have an iron as far as I know Blush

Inertia · 10/09/2012 20:17

Once a week, sometimes more often if needed.

I iron too, because otherwise the bedding doesn't fit in the drawer.

Your boyfriend needs to pack in the Ex wife comments and find his own way to the washing machine.

MummyDoIt · 10/09/2012 20:18

Once a year, whether they need it or not.

Not really but my Mum works as a cleaner for an old man who really did only change his once a year!

happybubblebrain · 10/09/2012 20:19

Who wants to do that much unnecessary washing?
Tell, him he's welcome to wash the sheets as often as he likes, but you're only going to do it every 2 weeks or so.
I do ours every 2 - 3 weeks. That is enough.

NarcolepsyQueen · 10/09/2012 20:19

Once a week here. I send mine to the laundry so they come back all fresh and ironed and starchy

Saltire · 10/09/2012 20:22

Once a week usually. However I am currently suffering the most god awful night sweats (to the point of actually thinking I have wet the bed ) Blush (sorry TMI) so just about every day ATM!

WelshMaenad · 10/09/2012 20:23

Weekly here, though I keep a spray bottle of diluted fabric conditioner upstairs and spritz them every day, just cos I like the smell!

pigsinmud · 10/09/2012 20:23

Tell him to change it himself.

Every 3 weeks 2 weeks here
