...to change the bedding once a week?

Do you think that's adequate? New partner says his ExDW changed it every 2-3 days. Now as far as I know they weren't bonking like mad (or so he told me!) so I don't see the need for that frequency! He's started staying over at mines on weekends, usually a Saturday but this week he stayed on Friday so the same sheets were on since the previous Sat iyswim. Also, we hadn't had sex in the bed the last time he was here (tmi?). I would normally change them on a Saturday morning as I work full time mon-fri. I'm actually feeling a bit Hmm about him comparing my cleanliness to ExDW as she didn't work. Anyway, I'm ranting. How often do you change your sheets?

I too am a daily changer.
If you are a bare arsed sleeper then I class bedding the same as underwear.
I am not an ironer though, fitted sheets and a well shrunk to fit tumbledried duvet cover does away with all that malarky

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 11/09/2012 13:20

I am the same as snatch - don't wear anything to bed (because of the pyjama/strangulation problem) and it would be ICK to sleep in the same sheets twice when naked, imo.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/09/2012 13:21

I have a kingsize and I am short (5'2"). Mostly DH changes the bed, because he does it very tidily whereas there are many tasks that I am too control-freaky about to let him anywhere near!

When I do change it, I do inside out, grab, and flick over the bannister so that the duvet and cover go down the drop of the stairs. Then haul it up, spread it on the bed, arrange the bottom corners and button. 2 minutes.

ethelb · 11/09/2012 13:21

ephiny you do have to be tall. I change more reguarly than most on here and do it the way Getorf describes. Takes me the best part of 5-10 mins just to get teh duvet cover on that way as it takes a few oges and adjustments at 5'2''.

seeker · 11/09/2012 13:24

Do none of you daily changers worry about the impact on the environment?

skyebluesapphire · 11/09/2012 13:28

Ok so you lot have just made me change my sheets which haven't been changed for about four weeks Shock

I usually change them once a fortnight.

KatoPotato · 11/09/2012 13:28

Once a fortnight but the bed is turned down every morning to air all day?

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 11/09/2012 13:29

No, not really.

I hardly ever have the heating on (and if so it is low), I have a well insulated loft, solar panels, never have a bath, don't have a dishwasher.

I don't have a car any more.

I only have one child.

There are loads of choices people make which impact the environment far more than washing a set of sheets every day. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/09/2012 13:29

I do it the same as getorf too, though as I'm a bit short I stand on the bed to do it, which can be quite wobbly sometimes!
Once a week here, on a quick wash if it's good drying weather so I can hang it outside before I go to work.

MrsHelsBels74 · 11/09/2012 13:30

I can't actually remember the last time our bedding was changed Blush. I keep thinking I must do it, then think what a faff it is & think I'll do it later!

imnotmymum · 11/09/2012 13:32

I doubt me changing sheets and washing in an a+ rating washer will impact the environment and tbh my clean sheets are way too important to me. I make energy efficient choice all the time and can cancel out clean sheets with a plethora of green things I do do.

earthpixie · 11/09/2012 13:33

when it smells like gerbil bedding weekly

charlottehere · 11/09/2012 13:34

Once a fortnight here sometimes longer

emmyloo2 · 11/09/2012 13:35

Once a week or once a fortnight here.

crashdollGOLD · 11/09/2012 13:37

Once a week and fresh pjs every other night.

imnotmymum · 11/09/2012 13:39

Clean pjs every night too here, well for the kids...Wink

aquashiv · 11/09/2012 13:45

Usually when the smell of musty lasts longer than could be blamed on a stray male fart.

QuinionsRainbow · 11/09/2012 13:47

Sheets, pillowcases and duvet cover changed/washed once a week. "Pseudo-quilted" pillow covers and mattress cover every three or four weeks (or when they start looking "used"!) Duvet shaken, laid out and turned back to air the bed every morning.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 11/09/2012 13:55

Grin at 'stray male fart'

LauraShigihara · 11/09/2012 14:09

Once week for the sheets, twice if it's hot (so not this year then...)

Pillowcases are changed daily because people dribble on them and it makes me feel icky.

MarysBeard · 11/09/2012 14:27

LOL aqua Me too. Great post. I confess I quite like our filth sheets that smell of...us. Up to about a month's worth anyway.

noddyholder · 11/09/2012 14:41

Weekly but do sheets and pillowcases midweek sometimes too esp in summer

MrsShortfuse · 11/09/2012 15:05

Once a year whether it's needed or not...

Ephiny · 11/09/2012 15:08

I will attempt the inside-out flicky duvet thing while standing on the bed. If this works, it could revolutionise my bed-changing habits. My teeny arm-span could be an issue though.

limitedperiodonly · 11/09/2012 15:20

earthpixie Gerbils don't really smell if you keep them in a big fish tank (obviously with no water in) about a third full of sawdust. You can keep them that way for about 3 weeks and watch them build tunnels.

They don't wee much and the wee they do produce soaks into the sawdust and helps with tunnelling. Admittedly that eventually gets a bit whiffy but they are clean souls and more interesting and less warlike than hamsters.

Secure lid though or the ingenious little bastards work together to pile the sawdust up the sides and climb out.

All females is a good idea unless you want to find homes for new babies every six weeks.
