LeMarchands
I have heard that argument before, but the problem with it is that if you 'experiment' with humour then you have a a) be actually funny and b) recognise that your audience may be simply so thick that they don't understand the experiment. And that they will take the 'joke' and retell it, without the excuse that you have, which makes it just an offensive and vile joke.

Can't be bothered with him, controversy is what he seeks. Just leave him to put his vile opinions out there and let them vanish into the ether which they will. He is a nothing, don't let him impact on you.

I would say at LEAST Chief Inspector, Mintyy.

Maybe it's because people know deep down that we are all one step away from having a disability. You can't change race and don't usually change sexuality... Fear I guess.

There is a theory that the things you fear are the funniest...

We went to see him based on seeing him on Mock the Week. BIG mistake. His show was awful. The audience was kind of odd - it was more like an embarrassed daren't move feeling from most people. no laugh out loud stuff like you get with other comedians we have seen. Never again will I buy tickets without looking into a comedians material a bit more. Horrible!

If it is experimental I would say he needs to have a serious rethink! The things he says are about real people, people that are often the least able to defend themselves. I also think I have a good sense of humour, I don't have a child with a disability, I just think that anyone who thinks it's ok to take the piss out of a child ( or adult for that matter) because they have a disability is lacking in basic levels of humanity

We thought about goign to see him but have boycotted (going to see Russel Kane instead - hurray!) as I think he now playing up to it all.

Do find him funny.... but I hate myself afterwards. Not about disabled kids though - that'sa bit tumble weed in our house.

He writes a column in one of the papers (can't remember which one - Mirror?) which I read sometimes when I'm bored at work because there are always papers lying around

Anyway, he comes across as aggressive. He's probably quite clever/witty but the aggression is unattractive and his 'wit' goes beyond funny into insult. I think his jokes are basically pisstakes and just aren't funny. They are peurile, in fact. My 18yo DS probably would find them superficially funny but would know that they are nasty too so would feel guilty about laughing. All of the above, apart from the aggression, could also be said about Jimmy Carr, who I loathe more than Boyle.

Sorry but you are both past it and wastes of space.

Yeah maybe taking the piss out of things you fear is a way of making people laugh, but the things you say have to be witty, don't they? Or else they are still not funny.

I truly can't stand the man. The joke he made about Katie Price's DS were just awful. It was extremely offensive and sickening (Channel 4's handling of it was very shabby). His latest comments were also very nasty. This man is a father of two DCs, I wonder if his DC will be proud of him when they grow up.

I would be happy never to see or hear of him again.

here's another one

Honestly, it is not too difficult to find evidence of Mumsnetters vocally expressing their feelings re. F Boyle. Just put the word Boyle into advanced search (thread titles) for the past couple of years.

Hulababy · 08/09/2012 23:13

Does it really matter if there are other threads on the topic though?
I've been on MN for 9 years or so and still rarely bother searching previous threads before starting a new topic. How many people really do?
MN wouldn't be half the size, nor as well known if people were only allowed to post about new things!

He was fantastically funny on Mock the week, the only reason I watched the programme. But after he got sacked from that he has completely lost the plot.

I have only heard of his "joke" about Jordan's kid. I found it highly disgusting and offensive and have no desire to hear any more of his "jokes"

The man is foul.

It doesn't matter, no, but op said she couldn't find past threads about him and I am wondering how hard can it be?

I have been here a trifling 6 years and no, there is not a topic under the sun that has not already been discussed on Mumsnet.

Right. Must be time to shut it down then?

i think it is good that people start new threads about this waste of air
it reminds people that people like him are vile
and why they are vile

I agree, get rid of him more Birds of a Feather or Hi-de-Hi.

Somehow I don't think MN is his audience.

Report
threeOrangesocksmorgan · 08/09/2012 23:28

I hope not
ripping the piss out of disabled people is not funny
hopefully the shit for brains man will bite of more than he can chew one day.
that will be funny

Balderdash
There is rather a large range of comedy between Hi-de-hi and Frankie Boyle.
