Supermarkets are less than polite. I find the staff in Sainsbury's are much better.

I have shopped weekly at Morissons since January as I love it there for the food, prices etc

You would faint clean away if you went to Aldi then.

ChopstheDuck · 05/09/2012 17:20

their tills are crap though, especially the self service ones. Items never scan properly. I'd be grumpy if I had to work on those.

SoleSource · 05/09/2012 17:20

Lol

Oh, I had good experiences in Aldi regarding customer service

Self service tills are not very good

Find them nicer than majority of asda or tesco's.

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 05/09/2012 17:24

Had a wonderful experience at Morrisons self service till. DP and I had scanned through our items for our tea and pressed the button to pay. The screen froze.

The assistant working at those tills came and looked for a few minutes and then decided he couldn't fix it so went to get his manager who also looked for a few minutes before decided she couldn't fix it either. She asked him to sort us out at another till.

Now, common sense would have dictated that he would stop the next person in line at the self service tills and let us use the next one that became available, no?

No. He walked us halfway up the bank of tills before depositing us at the end of the longest queue. We handed him our basket and left. Went to the pub for tea in the end, far better service, which is a shame because Morrisons do have far better quality produce than Asda or Tesco but at a lower price than Sainsburys.

I find our morrisons a mixed bag really, mostly the staff are nice, but one time I had the rudest woman who threw the shopping at us, talked to a colleague while serving us, and didn't talk to us at all. When we were loading the car I saw her go outside to have a ciggie, she was obviously desperate to get on her break.

I emailed head office to complain and they basically said 'sorry' in such a way as too say we couldn't give a stuff.

The staff in our lidl are very friendly.

Peggotty · 05/09/2012 17:26

And Morrison's can do no wrong IMO as I got id'd there last Christmas at the grand age of 35. I was so thrilled I texted all my friends.

SoleSource · 05/09/2012 17:26

SoleSource · 05/09/2012 17:29

I think some are really friendly and others are rude.

A couple of years ago I asked one of the young male shop floor assistants in Morrisons where the houmous was.

He claimed never to have heard of it and therefore it must be something exotic so unlikely that they sold it Hmm

Ohh I asked for fly spray yesterday and he had never heard of it.

I just love how they always ask if I need a hand packing
Unless I'm heavily pregnant
Or my own with 3 young dc
Or have a stupid amount of shopping

greenhill · 05/09/2012 17:33

Morrisons and Sainsbury's are equally good here. Tesco Express is good, but the town centre Tesco is dreadful. The assistants are all grumpy and deliberately look away from you when telling you the amount etc.

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 05/09/2012 17:34

Lol Norbert when I used to work in Tesco I had a gentleman ask me where we kept the sellairee. I told him I'd never heard of it but he was insistent that such a thing was sold in the shop as his wife bought it all the time. A few minutes of puzzled questioning from me later and he snapped 'for gods sake, I just want sellairee to go with dips!'

"Ohhhhh.... you mean CELERY!"

dottyspotty2 · 05/09/2012 17:34

Part of their job to ask if you want a hand noticed a check list once

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 05/09/2012 17:34

When I worked at Morrisons, I found that most of them were lovely and polite. A few spoiled it, but it is the same in any supermarket. I

conseuelabananahammock · 05/09/2012 17:35

Round here it's the Tesco workers that are always rude and moody. Sainsburys and Asda are lovely.

Svrider · 05/09/2012 17:36

Oh and in asda a request for a school track suit got this response from the George staff Confused
Her supervisor gave me this Hmm

In the end I settled for jogging bottoms and matching top

arthurfowlersallotment · 05/09/2012 17:36

The Morrisons in St Albans has a vegetable mist machine

soooooo posh.

suburbandream · 05/09/2012 17:36

Our Morrisons is excellent, although the self service tills just seem awkward somehow - you have to stretch really far to put the items in the bag after scanning as the payment bit gets in the way. But they do cash back in the self service which is handy.

suburbandream · 05/09/2012 17:37

WTF is a vegetable mist machine????

cornzy · 05/09/2012 17:37

Marks and spencers food shop have rudest assistants.
