Supermarkets are less than polite. I find the staff in Sainsbury's are much better.

I have shopped weekly at Morissons since January as I love it there for the food, prices etc

Until I was 28 I lived in a town where the only supermarket was a crummy Scummerfields. It was horrible shopping in there - no choice, vile and expensive.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 05/09/2012 18:14

lol at jenai Grin

I have been waiting ages to use that Grin

dreamingofsun · 05/09/2012 18:19

my son works there (morrisons) and he is very polite and works extremely hard. he is even polite when he gets very odd requests from customers. i'm very surprised by the amount of training they get as i assumed they would just learn on the job, though can't compare to sainsburys. for ages i refused to have deliveries from sainsburys because the driver refused to bring the boex inside the house

Morrisons sell Canadian Ham Seabrooks crisps so I don't care how rude they are Grin

I will defend the Aldi staff to the hilt though, there's only about 4 of them in there, they are busy all the time, and friendly with it :)

SoleSource · 05/09/2012 18:22

I am sure he is great at his job dreaming, some are in customer service. I bet you feel proud of him. :) Working and getting on. Nice to read

Our sainsburys has fab young blokes working at it, who always go out of their way to talk to DS. ASDA opposite my work has lovely mumsy checkout ladies who have been falling over themselves to help me since I've been on crutches.
I used to be (many moons ago) a min. wage Somerfield girl (deli, shelves & checkouts) and even though we had some scary customers (rough bit of city), awful uniforms, terrible manager & lousy wages, I was always nice as I could be as a lot of our customers were very lonely older people and we were their contact for the week. One ancient polish guy (who came in for a chat everytime i had a shift) always asked me to pick something new for him to try that week, he said he wasn't done with new experiences yet and wanted to cram as many in as possible.

McBee27 · 05/09/2012 18:35

The staff in our Tesco are okay. Except for this one time...

My husband used to have about three very small warts on his left hand - nothing contagious, he had had them ages, just one of those things; I had been regularly holding his hand for a good while by this point and never contracted anything! And anyway, he was in the process of using one of those freezing things to get rid of them (and it worked very well).

Anyway, I was waiting outside while he went in and got a few things. He comes out looking a bit upset, and when I asked him what was wrong, he told me the boy at the till had pointed out the warts and had told him 'he ought to get something done about them'. My husband was so embarrassed he hadn't known what to say in response. Maybe the boy was just being a bit over-friendly, but I thought it was a bit off commenting on a customer's appearance like that. Was a bit peeved on DH's behalf!

3monkeys3 · 05/09/2012 18:36

No mention of Waitrose yet Grin. I can honestly say I've never experienced any customer service of note, good or bad, at any supermarket - I think I must be very unobservant. I was once id'd in Sainsburys when I had my 3dc with me - I did wonder how old they thought I was when I had my eldest!

Nagoo · 05/09/2012 18:37

Morrisons bought out Safeway and it ruined a good joke about the best way to walk home....

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 05/09/2012 18:45

Oh yes Nagoo, that was an excellent supermarket-related joke :(

Lemarchand, the pie counter must be at least a little consoloation, no? Or the veg misters? No veg misters is the Kwarp.

I'm going to call them veg mysters. Because they're atmospheric. And mysterious.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 05/09/2012 18:47

Our Waitrose has customer service second to none. It far outweighs every other supermarket in the town.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 05/09/2012 18:51

Oh god, I LOVE them in our local Aldi! I often ring the branch up to ask if they have any camping stuff left and the manager frequently leaves his little cubbyhole to go and check. And he's chatty too. The checkout staff are smiley and friendly, even as their hands are blurring with all the super-fast scanning.

littlemisssunny · 05/09/2012 18:53

I wish our morrisons had a veg mister stamps feet and has tantrum

Spottyblancmange · 05/09/2012 18:55

The only really diabolical customer service I have ever had was ironically in a Waitrose, from a young guy who thought it was outrageous that I wanted to put a bottle of champagne through separately from the sweets I'd bought to shut DD up the rest of my shopping.

I do find they seem to rush you a little sometimes in Morrisons though, scan faster than you can pack. But every time I've asked them to slow down they have, so it's not a bad thing really.

SoleSource · 05/09/2012 19:32

Ate the Morisson pies etc from the pie counter any good?

I always miss it as I shop late and it is closed Confused.

Pies from Morrisons are good especially the steak and gravy ones they do them around the store bagged up as well

floradix · 05/09/2012 19:40

Bit peed off as I was hassled in Morrisons today by two junkies asking for money.
The pies are good.

SoleSource · 05/09/2012 19:45

Flora REALLY? Omg!
