... to halve my Pill because I'm a small person?

peachesoncream · 22/08/2012 23:56

I take a daily dose of Cerazette: the Mini Pill. I can't take the combined pill because I have migraines, and I quite like a pill that covers me for 12 hours rather than 3.

I am a little person. I am just over 5 feet tall, and weigh 7st9lb. There are women double my weight with the same pill as me. The GP's dosage is not based on my weight.

Seeing as I am small in stature and low in weight, should I be on the same dosage as someone double by weight?

Am I playing with fire to only take a half or 3/4 of the tablet? Incidentally, getting pregnant would not be the end of the world- maybe a few months earlier than planned, but no catastrophe.

You're not being unreasonable... You're being ridiculous.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 22/08/2012 23:58

Take the whole pill, and if you're not happy go back to your GP to look at other options. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but you sound like you want to be able to say to your sexual partner that you're on the pill, when you're not really.

And that's wrong.

FuckityFuckFuck · 23/08/2012 00:00

If you don't wanna take the whole pill, then don't bother taking it at all.

If getting pregnant now really wouldn't bother you, don't bother taking it

larks35 · 23/08/2012 00:01

I wouldn't mess with your dosage without Doctor's advice tbh. I'm quite light in weight too but have never considered that I should lessen any drugs I've been prescribed according to my weight. If you're not that worried about getting pregnant why not come off the mini-pill and use condoms/withdrawal/rythmic method? You can rid your body of the false hormones and be ready for conception.

peachesoncream · 23/08/2012 00:03

I would like to have a baby born in the new academic year (ie December conception for a September birth) but I have the feeling it will take a long time to come off the pill.

sirboobalot that's my first biscuit; thanks. I hope it's high in folic acid.

Are you having a laugh?

msnaughty · 23/08/2012 00:04

the pill has nothing to do with your size. i hope a teen does not read this and starts messing about with their pill

EightiesChick · 23/08/2012 00:04

I have been on medication that has to vary according to your weight, and doctors are always careful to weight you and calibrate the dose accordingly. If you haven't been told your dose is weight-variable, then you would be undermining the whole point of taking it to fiddle with the dose and not consult a doctor or suitable medical professional.

Be honest with yourself about whether you want to be on the Pill and when you want to come off. Don't mess about with this half a dose idea. You should either be on it or not.

Schoolworries · 23/08/2012 00:05

Im sure you cant go around diagnosing your own dosage, please see your gp, or incidentally if you actually want a baby then talk to your dp.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 23/08/2012 00:05

Peaches, I was about your size when I was on a much higher-dose pill back in the 80's. I conceived first cycle.

Does your partner know your plans?

peachesoncream · 23/08/2012 00:06

My DH is a GP. He just shrugs his shoulders at the idea. And waiting until December is my idea.

It's a hormone. I'm pretty sure fat people don't produce double/triple the amounts of hormone you do.

DBAD.

Out of interest, what happens if you don't conceive your September baby at the right time? Do you wait a year?

BellaVita · 23/08/2012 00:06

Yes YABVU.

EightiesChick · 23/08/2012 00:08

Why is it going to take you a long time to come off the Pill?

larks35 · 23/08/2012 00:09

Oh fgs, don't try and time your baby. Why do you want a Sept. baby? Because they'll be the eldest in their academic year? Or does it work better for your maternity?

Honestly, if this is your first then don't even think about being able to time it. DP and I stopped using our very reliable form of contraceptive (withdrawal) for 20months before we finally conceived DS. We had one conversation about a 2nd child and one contraception-free night and DD was conceived.

If you and your DP are ready for children just stop using any contraception, have a lot of sex and "let nature take it's course" Grin

MamaMumra · 23/08/2012 00:10

Aren't they sugar coated? Either take it or don't. half - if possible - is silly. READ THE LABEL!

Schoolworries · 23/08/2012 00:10

Your Gp is also your dh?!

Erm, surely you should ask him about this. Either in the context of medical advice, or as your dh if he wants to start trying earlier than planned?!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 23/08/2012 00:10

Take it or dont take it. Why would you want to mess about with it? have another Biscuit

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 23/08/2012 00:11

I cannot imagine a GP just shrugging at that...

Your baby might be early and be the youngest Smile
It doesn't take a long time to come off the pill. If you take it late / miss a day you could get pregnant. You just stop taking it when you are ready.
