To think that Ian Brady...

is playing a sick game.
His final victim is Winnie Johnson who is desperate to find her son Keith Bennet on the moors. She has terminal cancer and not long to live.
IB has been on hunger strike for years and wants to move out of the psychiatric hospital.
There is now, or rather, may or may not be a letter revealing where Keith is. Tormenting this woman in her final days.

Would it be unreasonable to tell IB that he can be moved if he stops this sick game, refusing to say where Keith is buried and if he does, not give him what he wants after all?

This has made me well up. RIP Winnie, I hope you get peace now and are with keith.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 18/08/2012 11:01

RIP Winnie, may you find peace now.

janey68 · 18/08/2012 11:01

She has now got what Brady wanted for himself (death). There is some consolation in the fact that she is no longer suffering. She has finally escaped his sick taunts. He, on the other hand, has no power over her now, and can't escape his awful life .

IslaMann · 18/08/2012 11:04

Statement from Mrs. Johnson's family.

Winnie Johnson, the mother of Keith Bennett, died this morning at 12.35 am, aged 78. She was a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and is survived by one younger brother. Winnie fought tirelessly for decades to find Keith and give him a Christian burial. Although this was not possible during her lifetime, we, her family, intend to continue this fight now for her and for Keith. We hope that the authorities and the public will support us in this.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to all the medical staff who cared for Winnie during her illness, and also the public for their good wishes and support over the years.

We hope that everyone will understand, however, that we would like to grieve for her in private, both at this time and during her funeral.

I've also read through this thread late last night.

RIP Winnie. My thoughts and prays are with you and your family

Megatron · 18/08/2012 12:54

There are so many terrible things in the news these days, it's easy to almost become de-sensitised to lots of things but this woman and her plight has always touched my heart. She has had all these years of torment and I always feel very tearful when I think of her and little Keith. I hope you can catch up with a lifetime of cuddles with your lad now Winnie.

SeashellsAllezModInYellowAllez · 18/08/2012 13:13

May you finally be at peace, Winnie x

anniewoo · 18/08/2012 13:29

God life can be so cruel for some people. May you rest in peace Winnie.

Shelly32 · 18/08/2012 13:33

Rest in peace Winnie.

dondon33 · 18/08/2012 13:46

I hope you find the peace that you deserve now Winnie, you may have been denied your right to bury your child but you're together again now. I'm sure Keith himself can finally rest in peace now he has his mummy back. God bless you both xxxxx Thoughts and prayers to the family.

I hope you're proud of yourself Jackie Powell, if the letter that Brady entrusted you with until he died, contains information that could have spared this relentlessly brave lady even a little suffering, then your sick. Fuck confidentiality and human rights.
Why does he deserve the right to offload his secrets/sins before his death. Fuck you Brady your soul will never be cleansed and I hope you'll forever burn in hell.

NurseRatched · 18/08/2012 13:47

RIP Mrs Johnson Sad

Birdsgottafly · 18/08/2012 13:49

I hope that this doesn't turn into a witch hunt on JP, i said this ealier, but i think that if the media and public had of backed off in the 80's Winnie may have got her wish, sometimes the bigger picture needs to be looked at.

diddl · 18/08/2012 13:56

So, so sad.

If there is a letter, I cannot concieve why anyone wouldn´t hand it over tbh.

I´m speechless that anyone could show any loyalty at all to IB.

NarkedRaspberry · 18/08/2012 14:02

Rubbish Birds.

MrsClown1 · 18/08/2012 14:05

I was 7 years old when these terrible crimes were committed. I can still remember the picture of Lesley Ann Downey on the front of the newspaper and I asked my grandfather who she was. He said someone has taken her away and we dont know where. It was a terrible time. My mother was nearly sick with worry because my sister was around the same age as these children.

I hope and pray that Ian Brady never dies, that is what he wants. He is a control freak and at that time no one could believe anyone could be that evil.

All I can say is my heart bleeds for Winnie Johnson. She is an amazingly strong woman to have been able to carry on. Ann West, Lesley Ann's mother was the same. She never had a life after all this happened. In the case of Pauline Read, Myra Hindley knew her prior to the murder and also knew her mother. She used to say hello to Pauline Read's mother in the street and ask her if she had heard anything about where Pauline was! John Kilbride was a cute cheeky chappy who had a smile that would light up a room.

Words cannot express how I feel about these people and others like them. As I write this I am crying because I can remember Winnie Johnson being on TV all those years ago and saying that someone told her Keith had been chopped up and fed to the pigs.

I feel in my heart that Ian Brady just wants publicity and to keep the hurt going and get the family's hopes up. Thats just my opinion. I dont think Brady has one ounce of remorse in his evil body.
