To think that Ian Brady...

KittyFane1 · 17/08/2012 20:29

is playing a sick game.
His final victim is Winnie Johnson who is desperate to find her son Keith Bennet on the moors. She has terminal cancer and not long to live.
IB has been on hunger strike for years and wants to move out of the psychiatric hospital.
There is now, or rather, may or may not be a letter revealing where Keith is. Tormenting this woman in her final days.

Would it be unreasonable to tell IB that he can be moved if he stops this sick game, refusing to say where Keith is buried and if he does, not give him what he wants after all?

When I read about the letter yesterday my first thought was 'just leave the poor woman in peace' He had his chance to tell her where the body was over the last 40 years. My 2nd thought, which I have always thought is 'he doesn't know where the body is but is getting some sick pleasure from her torment'.
If I was the legal advocate with the letter I would want to know what was in it before going to the papers. My guess is there is nothing new about his wherabouts.

I hope Winnie finds some peace now with her son and we all just ignore IB and he can die in prison without anyone caring about him.

McHappyPants2012 · 18/08/2012 20:25

human right must stay the same.

you have them automatically, it isn't something you have got to earn.

no matter how horrific the crime is, the system must stay the same.

EnjoyResponsibly · 18/08/2012 20:35

I truly hope there is a particularly vicious, never ending torture in store for Brady. May the remainder of his days on Earth be racked with drawn out pain that no morphine can alleviate.

He has been given non stop oxygen of publicity by the press my entire life, and that should never, ever have been allowed. Too many people continue to know his name and his deeds.

If it is true this woman has some information that may solve the mystery of the whereabouts of that poor child's body, shame on her for withholding it.

I have lit a candle tonight for Mrs Johnson. Her dignity in the face of decades of unimaginable suffering is truly remarkable. I hope that one day Keith's body will be found and his family can find some small solace.

maddiemostmerry · 18/08/2012 20:47

I agree with Dawndonna, | don't feel that Brady wants to die. I imagine there may have been opportunities for him to take his own life and he hasn't.
If the law changed tomorrow and he could be executed I believe he would do everything possible to avoid death.

He loves the power he has.

RIP Winnie. I am sorry you didn't get to give Keith his Christian burial but hope you are reunited now.

ThreadWatcher · 18/08/2012 21:27

It isnt just Ian Brady who is playing a sick game.
Jackie Powell is too. - far more so than the media are letting on.

Lets just say that this news story is a very example of when I know more than the general public do and it isnt a nice feeling. :(

I bet both she and Brady are loving all this media attention.

RIP Winnie and Keith :(

Dawndonna · 18/08/2012 21:37

I suspect however, Thread, Ms Powell has been manipulated by Brady, after all, he's made a long and illustrious career of manipulation.

Fourfingerkitkat · 18/08/2012 21:39

Dawndonna - not sure I've fully understood your earlier post about IB being an evil bastard because he is a psychopath....not all evil bastards are automatically psychopaths. You do seem far more knowledgable about this than I do to be fair !

I'm not a particularly religious person but cases like this kind of force me to hope that there must be a heaven and a hell so that this evil bastard will roast for the whole of fucking eternity.

ceebeegeebies · 18/08/2012 21:42

I am not a religious or spiritual person by any means but I really hope that Winnie is now with Keith somewhere - that woman has been through torment for nearly 50 years Sad

Fourfinger I agree, not all evil bastards are psychopaths. However, all psychopaths are evil bastards.
Huntley, I suspect, has always been in this for the long game. It wasn't just a case of doing the dreadful things he did. He can continue to derive whatever warped pleasure he gets by continually being in the families heads, newspapers, sitting rooms. That will enable him to relive what he did, and as I said, to gain pleasure from both what he did and from what he is doing. Those that say he should be starved of media attention are right. However, he would still continue to manipulate, albeit on a smaller scale, thereby (still) gettting his kicks.

Precisely my point seashells. If IB were offered a lethal injection tomorrow, he'd love it. Life imprisonment with no chance of parole is far more effective in terms of the punishment aspect

couldnt agree more thats why i dont agree with capital punishment

bring in that and their "suffering" is over

far better left in a bare cell for 40yrs

MrsApplepants · 19/08/2012 00:31

I believe that IB's real punishment hasn't started yet. Whether he dies tomorrow or in 20 years makes no difference. In hell he will face pain, humiliation and torture far worse than he could ever experience on earth. And he will have no human rights to protect him then.

sashh · 19/08/2012 04:53

Winnie Johnson passed away on Friday.

RIP Winnie

AGiraffeOnTheDivingBoard · 19/08/2012 11:50

Sad She wanted to find Keith so she could protect him from IB in death. Beyond devastating to even contemplate her agony for even a moment. I don't believe in afterlife but if I did for anyone it would be for Winnie and Keith.

Telegraph article

I also don't believe in the death penalty. It does seem a significant person in this story has forgotten IB's ability to manipulate which is very disappointing that he can still get his kicks. I am pleased Winnie was never told of this final letter from IB.

GlassofRose · 19/08/2012 12:45

There are no words for how sad the passing of Winnie Johnson is.

Jackie Powell should be banged up for preventing Keith's burial or bringing further grief to the family / her part in this hoax (if this is what it is).

The media needs to do a blackout on Brady. The way they have been reporting only gives him the notoriety he so deeply craves. Jackie Powell withholding the letter should have been the headline not Brady.

I hope they force feed him forever.

TheBigJessie · 19/08/2012 13:45

Wow, a bored, miserable psychopath is trying to manipulate his victims' families.

If Ian Brady had died before poor Winnie, surely the daft bint wouldn't have just gaily handed over that letter to poor Winnie? That letter, should it have ever existed, would have needed to be read by a professional intermediary first. There's a good chance it would have contained malicious, hurtful, manipulative gloating from the grave.

KittyFane1 · 20/08/2012 22:58

Wow. Jackie Powell is awful.
Watching "Endgames of a psychopath".

SoleSource · 20/08/2012 23:00

R.I.P Winnie. jackie is a cunt.

SoleSource · 20/08/2012 23:07

Its photograph made me smile, skinny, ugly broken insane thing. Good.

thekidsrule · 20/08/2012 23:11

watched that to

it made me shudder how they described him

firemansamisnormansdad · 20/08/2012 23:13

Utterly tragic for poor winnie -words cannot express the horror of it for her.

slightlymentalmum2one · 21/08/2012 00:10

I'm truly disgusted that the documentary went ahead dispite Winnie's death. Surely her family deserve a bit more consideration

Feenie · 21/08/2012 07:20

It said at the beginning that it was dedicated to Winnie, and stated that they had asked the family permission after her death to show the documentary.

I thought Jackie Powell showed extreme stupidity, and seemed to be enjoying a fair amount of power herself - she told the camera what that letter contained, and only clammed up when the interviewer expressed incredulity that she had kept that knowledge to herself.

pigletmania · 21/08/2012 07:26

Poor poor Winnie. I hope that in death she is reunited with her son. I saw the Ian B programme, he is one sick twisted psychopath, he knows full well where that body is but is playing a sick game

pigletmania · 21/08/2012 07:28

Jacky Powell, what a complete tool. How should anyone want to work with this psychopath. She would not be saying such crap if that was her family
