... or at the very least all the OP's posts?

Just change your settings under Talk: Customise above to highlight the OP's posts in a different colour so they stand out. Then you can scroll through the pages and read all the OP's posts before posting yourself. You can even change how many posts appear on a page in a thread so you don't have to keep going through page after page.

I know some of you see a thread title and nearly wet yourselves in anticipation of posting your opinion before reading barely more than the OP but it might save you some embarrassment when the thread has moved on from say... someone saying her DP complains about her cooking to when it's revealed he's abusing her and the kids. Not to mention it keeps the thread cleaner and more on track.

TIA.

Read The Fucking Thread.

Can I be in charge of something too?
I want thick people not to post. And overly aggressive people could fuck off too. And people who use Hmm all the time.

I seem to be joining 'what annoys you on mumsnet' threads a lot.

puds11 · 16/08/2012 09:54

Oh i say. I didnt know i could change things.

Sometimes I cba to read the whole thread. I try to get the gist though.

ViviPru · 16/08/2012 09:59

I can honestly say I never respond to a thread unless I've read all of the OPs posts, and usually those of the users the OP has highlighted/responded to. It's a total waste of MY time otherwise.

I think of AIBU (and MN really) as a bit like the 'groups in a bar' analogy that I read on here when I first joined. Each thread is like a group of people round a table discussing the original post, which I like to imagine is displayed as a statement for all to see. To comment on a thread without listening to whatever the OP has had to say since making the first statement is like barging into that group of people, reading the displayed original statement and just sounding off without consideration for the direction the conversation round the table has taken. You'd look like a dick in that scenario. It's no different here.

LadyBeagleEyes · 16/08/2012 09:59

Well yes usual, if it's pages long, sometimes I can't either.
But it's not hard to get the gist before you post.

The irony of Maryz's and subsequent post.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 16/08/2012 10:09

i'm afraid a red button wouldn't be enough for me with some posters, i want them to feel pain, perhaps a virtual cattle prod app included with MN?

Pagwatch · 16/08/2012 10:13

Perhaps an electric shock through the keyboard would workFanjo?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 16/08/2012 10:14

yes Pag, that would be amazing!! I think MNHQ might have to adjudicate though or everyone would be constantly being zapped by someone!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 16/08/2012 10:14

i myself would be physically unable to type (even more than now) due to the constant voltage applied to my digits.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 16/08/2012 10:15
