very overexcited gold medal winner

How nice to have someone so totally overwhelmed with delight :)

YABU, I thought you were linking to a video footage of a happy medalist, but you linked to the effing Daily Misery without any warning, which I try so very hard to avoid giving any clicks to.

Sure I'm glad to hear about Olympic happiness but ffs warn us about DM links!

piprabbit · 09/08/2012 00:45

I think it was lovely.
BBC link for those who prefer not to click on DM.

OhDearNigel · 09/08/2012 00:48

larks, if you're so keen to avoid the DM I suggest hovering over the hyperlink in future which details the whole link before you click on it. I don't get involved in "warning DM link" rubbish

I much preferred the weeping of the guy from the Dominican Republic, funny and sweet in good measure.

SPsFanjoSponsorsTheOlympics · 09/08/2012 00:59

He won golf, jumped some hurdles and then went on a drinking binge and passed out on a train! I'd have celebrated the same way apart from the hurdles and I'd have celebrated if I had just participated Grin

larks35 · 09/08/2012 01:18

Thanks OhDearNigel (good name!) but hovering doesn't seem to work for me, sorry if I was a bit aggresive there, I really do dislike the DM and all that it stands for. Problem is that they believe they are very popular due to the amount of clicks onto their site and many of those come from links like yours.

However that doesn't detract from the many heart-warming moments this Olympics has given us!

quirrelquarrel · 09/08/2012 09:05

The link shows up at the very bottom of the page- where mine says "Done, but with errors on the page" (yours will probably just say "Done") :-)

OlaRapaceFru · 09/08/2012 09:08

Blimey - I've never noticed that about links before Blush
Thanks, ODNigel

Salmotrutta · 09/08/2012 09:13

It was funny Grin - apparently he usually does stuff like that!

Did anyone see the pole vaulters pole snapping? Shock

Oh and the woman who had the tantrum when she didn't qualify (can't remember what race it was but she lay on the ground and screamed)?

Salmotrutta · 09/08/2012 09:14

I should say I didn't think the snapping pole vault pole was funny BTW - just shocking Blush

WillSingForCake · 09/08/2012 09:21

My favourite Olympic footage is Chris Hoy's mum watching him in the Keirin. Made me cry!

Salmotrutta · 09/08/2012 09:23

Oh yes - that was funny and touching all at the same time. The way she kept covering her eyes then peeking alternately! Grin

mangomadness · 09/08/2012 09:23

Did you see the banner for the dutch winner of windsurfing? Said "GOGO CRAZY PENIS" across the bottom in huge letters, BBC cameras zoomed in quite a few times.

Salmotrutta · 09/08/2012 09:25
Shock

Hahahaha!

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 09:28

Chris Hoy's mum in the Keirin was utterly wonderful.

My favourite is the south african swimmer's dad. Hang on.

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 09:31

bbc link to Burt Le Clos

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 09:32

I also laughed at the australian trainer of Anna Meares in the cycling, he hugged her and said 'fuckin' brilliant' when the camera was on her, at something like 6pm. Grin

Salmotrutta · 09/08/2012 09:41

Now I thought he said that GetOrf but I wasn't sure!! Grin

And Burt Le Clos was fab!

FoofHundredMetreFreestyle · 09/08/2012 09:42

There was the Coach in the synchronised diving (think it was Mexico) when his two did a great dive he shot out of his seat, the seat snapped up, he sat down and shot out of sight.

Poor bugger. Was funny though.

AKMD · 09/08/2012 09:59

YANBU, hilarious. More please!

RuleBritannia · 09/08/2012 10:07

Cold water on it from me. There are many of us who remember GB's Alan Pascoe, an athlete who won 400m in 1974 at Christchurch Commonwealth Games. During his lap of honour, he aimed for hurdles and fell over the first, tried the second and fell over it, pushed over the third and carried on running round the track. At the time it happened it was hilarious and he laughed about it so muich.

The German might have succeeded in getting over the hurdles but he was copying. Anyway, if you look closely at the film of him doing it, it looks as if he's on the far side of the hurdles and on the outside of them, pretending the jump over them. Sorry to be a wet blanket today.

Look up 'Alan Pascoe falls over'

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 10:14

lol at Alan Pascoe - I have just watched it

GetOrfMoiRing · 09/08/2012 10:15

Did you see that lovely bloke from the Domincan Republic who won a race the other night - he cried his eyes on on the podium and the whole crowd really was behind him. It was lovely.

RuleBritannia · 09/08/2012 10:19

Yes, that's the one! Thank youGetOrfMyRing

RuleBritannia · 09/08/2012 10:20

I like to see an event where the Gold winner or a Silver or Bronze winner is from a country where it's their first Olympic medal. For example that Grenada one the other day.
